Or a way to seek some support for the "traditionally" black churches even? I'm hearing reports that Trump whipped up his delegates to boo Cruz for not endorsing him.  Trump had read Cruz's speech before Cruz gave it.  Class act, that Donald. It disheartens me that people on here think everyone should get in line behind Trump.  It kind of reminds me of the way the Nazis convinced the German public to get behind them as no other views would be tolerated.  An endorsement is  solid affirmation of a candidate.  A person who does that totally believes in the candidate and supports the candidate 110%.  Come hell or high water, that person stands with the candidate.  Trump has not shown himself to be worthy of such support.  I will still vote for the guy but with deep concern.  I imagine Cruz will too but I can't say I would blame him if he doesn't.

What I heard, after lengthy criticisms of Hillary and the Obama administration, was the dominant theme of fear, and how our hero President Trump would protect and save us all from widespread violence and danger--both at home, as well as abroad.  Nothing new here.  Despots world wide have used fear as a mechanism to manipulate and control the populace for millennia. 

I thought the RNC was an embarrassing mess, sorely lacking in any depth, substance, or sophistication.  It looked more like a third-rate fanfest.  Even Alex Jones got in on the action for Chrissake, lol.  I'm surprised we didn't see Tommy and Dave cruise by in the convertible. 

Anyhoo, on to the DNC next.  I can hardly wait.

I agree with quite a bit of what you wrote... It seems like a fair analysis.  Fear is a huge stick with which to beat others.  Crime statistics came out and our rate went up in my city.  The last time we were this "unsafe" was 2006 (I don't recall 2006 being a year where the streets ran red with the blood of innocents, but reported crime did go up this year.)  The solution?  Millions more for police announced in less than 2 days while we are running deficits.  The chief said "more officers = safer society"council quickly agreed as elections are coming.

Fear can make you do almost anything, if applied correctly.  I'm sure trump will be the savior that his supporters believe him to be.
