I'm not here to rain on your parade or pass harsh judgement. I've argued several times on here for the freedom to be able to ponder and speculate about non-standard topics because it seems to me that's what these shows are about. The other guy should just post his story. I really don't think Gabbers live up to their nasty reputation. Most are pretty thoughtful. 

Tell that to Sandra and some others.  I've taken a lot of flak tonight for standing up for my beliefs.  Most of the criticism is based on ignorance.  I'm not talking about you, Doc. At least you have looked into the subject.

My mind is open...but not so open that it doesn't exist. I'll listen but reserve the right to call bullshit if I hear it.

I think there should be a demarcation. There can be a "Satanic" cult (some are self-admittedly so) or even "Satanic" abuse and killings (there have been some) but this doesn't mean necessarily that Satan exists, just that some folks thought so and acted on it. Separate issues that, might, intersect. But those cults/people might just be crazy or belief in something that doesn't exist. Then there is other issue of whether Satan exists, and, of course, as "he" said, via Screwtape persona, the greatest deception is that he doesn't. 
Likewise there is a long history of using psychiatry (and associated) things in addition to physical or sexual abuse for torture, punishment, in seeking how to gain intelligence, religious reasons, or just plain perversion, etc. I would suspect any of it would "mess" a person up. But when it becomes government policy or sanctioned by large groups like religions it is really scary, not that the lone sicko is a good thing either.

I agree but as history shows if any sort of group or government can take more power from its people it will and will use any method that it can.

maybe not to you..but others maybe just do not believe..like with anything.."weird" some if they have no first hand proof..then they have no real reason to believe..and no book or person really is going to change someones mind in that until they experience it

I agree but as history shows if any sort of group or government can take more power from its people it will and will use any method that it can.

Was listening to an old podcast from "our" Astro guy Pseudo-Astronomy Podcast talking about ethics in which he claims science and medicine were the most ethical but history has shown the "mad scientist" stuff can happen and some very dark stuff can happen once ethics are changed or the bad-side of people are let loose. And it doesn't take much sometimes. Even in very advanced and educated societies (German comes immediately to mind, of course. But even here.) I saw today that we are creating chimeras, via private funding, but nobody, really, knows what will/could happen (and they pledge that they kill them early in life, so no worries.) I imagine the Chinese and others with even less oversight or publicity are doing even more weird stuff.

Its just that it is a bit personal to me as it was the point of view that I refused to acknowledge while my brother was alive.  Had I considered it more thoughtfully then maybe my brother could have been helped and still be alive today.
