Hey All!
Welcome to the Etch of Sketch of life, we shook it, and started a bit from scratch and I am pleased that the over all feel is...

"Well he is better than drinking acid"

;)

Reading through these pages for the last 4 days has been a treat, the hate, the love, the drama, did I mention the hate?

We are listening, and reading and hearing your concerns and platitudes, both equally important.  There will be changes, some you will love, some may take some getting used to, for all of us.

Let me give you all perspective on the task at hand, I will NEVER make everyone happy as is evident from posts here and on social media,
"He has a great Radio Voice and is such an engaging interviewer"   to  "His voice is boring and monotone. He talks too slow"  to  "He talks too fast."

My pace and meter will change, when you host a show and spend a whole hour talking, by yourself, I had to keep the energy up, talking a bit faster and higher is about transferring energy to an audience.  If I just spoke for an hour in a never changing monotone, slowly, you would have tuned out in hoards. Talking faster and with energy I was hoping to cover a lot, give some insights and keep the mood lighter and moving.

Some will love, some will hate. Either way, I get to wake up next to the woman I love, surrounded by kids I adore and do a job that is my passion.  I hope you will continue to come along for the ride and understand, some nights will be better than others, but that is the way it is in every relationship.

I believe it was the great mind of Socrates that once said,

"You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have, The Facts of Life, The Facts of Life"

(or was that Alan Thicke? Socrates, Alan Thicke....both great thinkers and amazing TV Dads)

Onward and Upward BellGabbertonians! Tally Ho!
See ya in the Worm Hole.

And one last favor, ease up on Heather. Death is a difficult blow and we all react differently to it. Just because you may handle a situation one way, there is no need to believe that is a universal truth.  Lets leave the disdain for Heather behind and instead focus it where it belongs, on Alex Trebek.

The more you talk about her and let the hate fester like a cancer the more she continues to get your attention and no one should be the focus of continuing rage. The future is here...lets go get mini-donuts and look at clouds.

Your monotone, fast, slow talking, obnoxious, unfunny, warm hearted, lucky son of a bitch radio show host friend,

Dave
aka - Darkness in the Desert of True Crime Dave

It's classy of you to post here, sir. Damn classy! Now, who the hell do you think you are?! :P

Great to see you here talking jive with us, Dave.  I had hesitations about you taking the show's helm but you certainly have the talent for it.  Best of luck to you.

Bellgab getting a bit triggered by the Minnesotan asking for a favor to be nice (not demanding and anything definitely doing the only logical thing in all of this, as in being professional) is definitely a bellgab.gif moment. Haha

It did indeed, thank you for pointing it out. This place scrolls so past I miss stuff.

I enjoyed MiTD for the first time since Art Bell left last night, thank you. For myself it wasn't hatred toward Heather, simply frustration that she seemed to go from bad to worse with no idea how to improve.

No one  is an overnight success, Art Bell wasn't. It takes time and practice to learn to do anything.  With some realism she could have opted for a guest host and honed her craft on the weekends and filled in, paid her dues and slowly re-emerged. But she seemed to lack that realistic insight. Hence the 'cruelty', that in my opinion, she brought upon herself.

If 'radio' is really in her blood hopefully she starts her own show and slowly builds that skill-set. I wish her the best for as frustrating as she was to listen to.

Right, and Keith has no time to play teacher. It’s not in his job description, for one. Second, she did have a good few years to learn. She might have felt a lot more comfortable behind the mic, but was lacking in other areas, IMO.

I think being humble at a time like this would serve her well.

He has to say it, and it's both reasonable and professional. But as long as Heather's shenanigans continue, talk will follow. You can't shut it down.

The main issue is that BG is an open forum...therefore, you might get an extreme or insulting comment that your critics or enemies want to label you with...

You can hear it now, "DS loves BG...BG has racists, haters, blah blah blah...so DS must be a bad person."

Tough call...I probably would just state what I mentioned...like all internet formats, FB, Twitter, etc, you have all kinds posting...

That's why I was a little peeved with Art singling out BG...why didn't he single out FB or Twitter?

Didn't Art have a contact within Anonymous. Can't Anonymous hack shit. Therefore if Heather has contact with Art's contacts, she theoretically could.

I just want to be honest right now, for the longest of time I had been confusing two, different people. All this time I thought Aaron Goodwin, was hosting the show. My apologies.

I may have to change my avatar now. I think it finally happened.  The Heather Wade Fans Facebook group found me out. Either that or it's a coincidental technical glitch. I suspect it is the former.

Same with Hoagie.  Oh well.  Thank goodness my only social media source is BellGab.

I'm sure once CuckCast in the Desert launches they'll be distracted and ease up a bit.

I can almost assure you that broadcast will get more BG attention than Dave last night...well, for that initial broadcast anyway...

I hope Heater Wad has open lines!

She promised she would have open lines about Art for an indefinite amount of nights until everyone feels closure, or whatever. But I think the audience has already come to terms with his death.

I WILL be doing open lines when the systems are installed and running and I will not screen my calls as a tip of the hat to Art.

Fantastic!  Unscreened calls is something I believe really differentiated the kind of forum that Art created from pretty much everything else on the radio.  Screening calls puts a palpable wall between the audience and the show and gives it a disingenuous feeling.  Though I was an avid C2CAM listener starting in 1995, I've never called in to a radio show so it's really from the listening perspective that I say this.

I'm really glad the show is in motion again and am re-subscribing to support it.  Critiques aren't hate!

Uh oh! Lol. It was bound to happen. I think there is at least one more person in that group still.

I'm surprised that it didn't happen sooner. I suspect that also means that someone over there is probably lurking here (possibly Heather herself since she is an admin there lol).

Is the next qualifying question on FB something like this, "Will you die for Heater Wad?"

The Beatles fought that for decades...but eventually lost a key court case...then you heard their songs all over commercials from that point on.

Michael Jackson outbid Paul on Beatles publishing rights.  That ended their friendship.  Michael let Beatles songs go into commercials.  This angered the Paul.  Michael's ownership of the Beatle's publishing rights was a large part of his fortune.  Michael was also trying to completely remove himself legally from Sony and owned half their stocks or maybe 51% when he "died" and then Sony
got all Michael's past and future releases as well as the Beatle's publishing rights.

Probably right after "Have you ever visited Bellgab?" and "Do you ever say the words "Praise" and "MV" together?".  ;D

Naaa, it's only 120V here, not the manly 240V in the UK. But it's more than made up for with the mains cables strung between poles just begging to be brought down and set the houses on fire.. UK mains are mainly underground-A few exceptions in the Highlands of Scotland.
