I haven't followed sports since 1995.  I simply got fed up with professional athletes and I'm irritated by the fact that many of our institutions of higher learning are more interested in how their college teams fare than they are about educating students.

Before that I was a big baseball fan and couldn't get enough of my beloved Dodgers.  I liked to play football a bit but have never been one to watch many games except for the Super Bowl.  I liked the Flyers as a kid living near Philly but hockey  is not popular in the South.

I go near there everytime I go to Cleveland.  My wife and I always crack up when we see the sign.  I think William Clark or maybe it was Boone who discovered mammoth bones there and brought some back for Thomas Jefferson.

i thought the caller was actually in kentucky, but he ended up saying he was in maryland. but previous he mentioned harlan county so i got confused. i am not sure who discovered the mammoth bones but i have a big bone lick t-shirt.

It was Clark. I double-checked my facts and my first instinct was correct.  When we're traveling by it, I make the usual joke with my wife that I have a big bone she can lick. LOL.

Hawks will be solid for years to come. I watched them beat the Blues in St. Louis on 11/14. There were as many Hawks fans as Blues fans and the place was not sold out. Any city that can't sell out a home game against the Hawks on a Saturday night does not deserve a Stanley Cup.

To be honest shes not good. I mean that with respect (if thats possible). She has no experience, no proper cadence, monotone (at times) voice also-- why hasn´t Bell looked into getting a replacement from a podcaster/broadcaster with experience FROM the network? Byan Alvarez is a good one, probably one of the better hosts on the DMRN... why just give a random a shot at a paid sub site? She has no experience. Even Knapp or somebody else would have been a legit replacement ? Who´s going to pay for her? sorry not to be harsh but its true. It´s like Art DGAF about the network or paranormal anymore..

I'm  just reading through this to get the idea that others feel as I do. Months later and I still feel the same.

The only reason for that is because the original opinion got derailed with all the personal attacks. 

A smart person, though, will listen to the criticism, think about it, and if possible, act to improve on their weaknesses.  People throwing about support for someone who is not ready are not doing her a favor.  All the fawning and platitudes just mask the real problems.   If Heather is a bright person -- and I suspect she is -- she will pay more attention to the people telling her what she is doing wrong than the ones who are just saying she's great or whatever when she isn't there yet.  Unless there are enough of the latter to keep the show on the air, I suppose.  I doubt it.

Appreciate that.  And I think you're right, including that so much of the support is because people feel they know her personally, or maybe do.  But the show doesn't have 20 years to get her ready, right?  It's essentially going to go on life support when Art disappears.  In some ways, it's wrong that Art chose someone who wasn't ready.  It sets her and the show up for failure, and it keeps someone with more talent from stepping into the role.  I'm all for the gifted amateur.   I wish she was more of that than just amateur.  We're being told that if Midnight in the Desert goes down, the whole network folds, or at least I've read that in a few places.  If that's true, then a lot is at stake to just give an amateur her dreamshot.

Yup...sad...even if different hosts were auditioned on air for a few weeks would have been more compelling. Then decisions could have been made based on feedback. As it is, we are stuck...until we leave, which I will do as soon as i get my past AB shows downloaded.

So I think George started a thread that was called, "Heather Sucks". Was that thread merged into this one? If so, I guess if you want to complain about the new MITD or Heather, one would be forced to come here. Therefore, everyone is going to experience praises from her fans, and criticism from her detractors here...thus, mentioning "beating dead horses" probably will be itself, "beating a dead horse".

Are you talking about that shitty Art Bell Time Travelers FB page moderated by those nasty old women who call the show every once in a while to talk about angels?  That scene is dead, and good riddance.  They're begging for discussion now, and asking whether there's "too much censorship" on the board.  Which is a testament to the way this one is run.  Even in the depths of depravity, there's never a dull moment.  The second you clamp down, everyone deserts.  I've felt too new to say it before now, but 6 or 7 months in, what the hell:  Praise MV

I was there, and right before the game there will still 2300 tickets available on stubhub. There was a large contingent of Chicago fans there because the Bears beat the Rams in St. Louis the next day.

A friend of mine had tried to treat me to a Hawks game for my birthday. Trouble was they bought plane tickets to Chicago and hockey tickets in St. Louis. Luckily, we were able to buy tickets for the 11/12 game in Chicago and put the 11/14 St Louis tickets on sale on stubhub. They, along with 2300 other tickets were still available on 11/14, so we flew to St. Louis the morning of the game and went. I was glad I got to see the Hawks win. The Hawks had lost the game on 11/12.

Maybe technically it was a sell out, but it was not a full house and almost half of the people were wearing Hawks jerseys. Got to see a rare event as well. Jonathan Toews actually dropping the gloves and going at it to protect one of his own.

I just re-listened to Art's interview with MV for shits and giggles, and Art mentioned trying to get a "good" program to lead into MitD so the listeners would carry over.

I wonder if this is still being pursued, because it's a good idea. Seems strange that there aren't ongoing efforts to bolster the number of shows on the network.
