Quote from: Bounder on January 08, 2016, 11:44:52 PMIt's an extraordinarily compelling book called Mortal Error.  I'm halfway convinced myself.
Read it in conjunction with The Lone Star by James Reston.  Together they lead to one conclusion: that embodied in Reston's later book, The Accidental Death of John Kennedy.  Oswald was trying to kill Connally.  He accidentally hit Kennedy too, and the shot of Oswald's that hit him might've been fatal by itself, but when Secret Servant George Hickey prepared to return fire & his gun went off, he blew JFK's head open.

Most of us have adblock though.

You literally are paying the owner of this site to get shit on.

It must be terrifying.

No.  You're wrong.  Your argument is a fallacy.

The site makes more money with the higher traffic.  You clearly know nothing about how business works on the web.

The more you hang around here and churn things along, the more money the owners of the site make.  You're creating material for them and keeping the site flowing.

That's why they don't ban you.   :)

So there was a giant coverup just to protect the Secret Service? Must be that all the good conspiracy theories are tapped out.

Okay, it doesn't bother me either way.  You still come here to get shit on while someone else gets paid.

Just keep that in mind.  You literally choose to come here to get shit on.

Did Heather really say that the Secret Service shot JFK? Sorry to repeat the question but I'll settle for yes or no. But no maybes.

Maybe someone who claims to be ignorant of political subjects should not be doing a politically heavy show.

HW hates Noory but she is a lot like him as a broadcaster.

One thing I love about this show vs. C2C is that they don't come back from a commercial break only to tell you that they're going to do another batch of commercials. They just resume the show after the business is done because they're not JUST corporate whores  ;)

Yeah, it's the best thing going despite all the flaws that will DOOM them. It doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon. :)

You da man Art! Roswells Heather!

Agreed. But a sense of humor is also a personal quality which helps others empathize with us and makes us more human. It also makes us more likable. This lack of humor is one big reason why I have real trouble liking her in the role she's in. I might also have trouble liking her off the air, one on one, assuming this is just her personality at work.

I wonder, do all the people here who are so defensive and supportive about her not miss this missing sense of humor? Maybe it's just not that important to them.

Sense of humor is a very personal thing.

Heather may be like me, a non-football enthusiast, who had never even heard the term "fair catch."  That doesn't mean that neither she nor I (nor Professor Kaku) have no sense of humor.  We just don't relate to that particular reference.

Not too long ago a group of people on Facebook were horrified when Art posted something to the effect that he had a bad back and  "definitely deflated balls."  To me that was laugh out loud funny because I'm a tv news junkie and had heard nothing but discussion of deflated basketballs for days.

Different strokes for different folks.  My grandaddy used to say, "If everyone thought like you they'd all want your wife, and if everyone thought like me, they wouldn't have her!"  ;)

Edit:  We're just speculating here about whether or not Heather thought the "fair catch" issue was funny. That was mentioned by another poster.  She may or may not have even heard it. Don't sue me, Heather.  :P

You know shit is bad when Keith is now hiding the live listener count because of this image:

The question I asked previously was whether anyone heard any evidence that Heather has a sense of humor. That was very open-ended and no one has remarked on it except for one solid "no." Then since no one could support the notion that she did display any humor, I moved on to why this wouldn't bother some people.

Your response is neither here nor there. The question remains whether she demonstrates any sort of humor on the show (and if not, why don't people miss it since Art did bring humor), not what types of things she would or wouldn't find funny. All that matters is what she brings to the show and humor is an important element.

Oh dear. Are they really hiding the meagre listener numbers now? That is truly embarrassing. I'm assuming they are doing this so that they don't lose their already hard to get and keep advertisers.

I elaborated and expanded on your question, O Joyless One. My response is both here and there.  We just don't think on the same level.

To answer your specific query, my opinion is that "Yes, she does have a sense of humor. I hear it often." Now we have two solid answers for you to toy with.

Lighten up, Fellow.  I used to find your posts interesting, but you seem to have fallen in with the riffraff now invading this forum.  Or don't lighten up.  Your choice.  Just don't expect everyone to be smitten by the power of your own personal perspective.

Listening to the show now. If you haven't seen it, do check out the documentary about this very subject. It's quite eye opening, and totally plausible.

Different wavelengths are certainly possible, but joyless, no. People sometimes have a way of dancing around issues or questions without actually addressing them; it's not one of my favorite things. I prefer it when people are direct and the more creatively they do that on a forum like this, the better.

I have mixed feelings about the riffraff because I don't think they're equally riffraffy. Some are real trolls up to no good and some just have unpopular ideas which are often rebuffed out of hand. They resent that and I can sympathize with their position. What you may see as falling in with them is to me just agreeing with parts of what they say and rejecting other parts. I don't think "us versus them" is helpful.

My perspective is what it is and if you think it has merit, great. I have no expectations. I write because I enjoy it, not because anyone is paying me to get results. And my perspective on Heather's prospects is negative for a number of reasons. The lack of humor was someone else's observation and I agree with it. You don't. That's all fine.
