Sam Larson is the son of some college friends of mine. Never saw it but I know they were excited about it.

I only watched it so my friend would stop asking "have you watched Alive yet?, certain I would do the one show minimum and get him off my back, but I was HOOKED.  At the end of the first episode I was on the edge of my sofa and my heart was beating like a rabbit.  I really liked it -- too bad it didn't get more attention (prob because it was the History Channel).

Did anyone see/watch Alone on the History Channel?  I've been listening to what Cody was saying about the other shows but I think Alone was pretty legit.  No camera crew (the participants were given cameras), they each had a sat phone solely for the purpose of calling the producers to come get them outta there, each got to choose 10 implements (is that the right word?) and were each given a few basic things.  My best friend works in the movie biz and he's the one who told me about it because even he thought it was the real deal (and he's worked on "reality" spots so knows first hand what bullshit they are).  So, just curious if anyone one here watched it. 

Yes, I've seen a couple of episodes. I think it started w/ 12 people and was down to 7 after 2-3 days. It was OK, but the peeps really had no wilderness survival skills for the particular climate. They thought they did, but they were dropped in the Pacific NorthWest (I think.) Everything was constantly wet. Horrible conditions if you don't know how to handle them. The shelters were basic. Don't know if they weren't allowed to build decent ones or just didn't know how. They were ill prepared to handle the situation they were dropped into. One dude had to deal w/ a black bear nosing around the camp and sticking it's nose into the tent fabric - at night.

No, you really shouldn't, especially when abundant alternatives occur around you naturally. I do not intend to survive the apocalypse at all, for me prepping is one bullet and one handgun, but this guy is going to kill himself with his methods.

I was thinking the exact opposite. I think I would rather live in an apartment the size of a closet than his lash up. The ground is probably covered in his shredded up foot pieces.
