Well....I liked the show.  Art was 100% on his game.  Cody disappointed a little because I he is more than what you heard.  Regardless I think this was a good show.  Having a brand new guest was refreshing.  We need more of that.  ;)

I agree 100%. Entertaining, but Cody, well, ...

But it was refreshing and Art should take on new guests. I was engaged the whole night.

Yeah, I believe that.  He lacks what we call 'the social skills', or was having a bad day but I'm sure he's good at what he does.

Well, there's three hours I'll never get back.

Insomnia can really be boring, especially with Cody in the background. Cody be Cody brah.

Sadly I can't determine if he can do anything from the context of the show tonight.
I had high hopes when he started talking about his home and sustainable living, that didn't last long though.

Same here. Yah, a bit to focused on fecal material and cannibalism, but I thought it was a good change up. Wish he would have talked a bit more about specific survival situations. Art was in good form and sounded like he was having fun.

Could've been worse, I guess ... but hell, I don't tune in to Bell to listen to the likes of Cody be Cody ... I tune in to hear complete nutjobs espousing nutjobby ideas and theories. Put that wackjob Hoagland on and I'm in. "There's huge glass structures on the moon Itellya'!! It's true!! Martians!! Mars face!! Family Guy!!"

So much better than bitter Les Stroud wannabe referring to himself in the third person, whining about how the world has been treating him, and explaining his poop theories.

I'll agree.  It got a little bogged down for awhile, but you can hear the potential.  I hope Art brings him back (and tells him that the word "television" is banned from being mentioned next time...)

All in all, not bad.

You guys thought I was pulling your leg before, dincha. ;)
Quote“Many so called natural vitamins are made from horrible substances. All the vitamin B-12, cyanocobalamin, on the market is made from either ground up toxic cow livers or activated sewage sludge. These cow livers are overloaded with steroids and antibiotics, and the pesticides the cow assimilates while eating. The sewage sludge is just that, fecal matter. In today’s environment of depressed immune diseases I can think of hundreds of reasons that these materials would be a health risk, not benefit. Just because a so-called natural substance (fecal matter is natural ) is high in a particular vitamin, does that also mean it is a good food?
That comes from here

The good part about that article is it gives you the alternatives that your body can handle and assimilate.

why do i have the feeling the only people with poop eating fetishes would read that book.
If I knew it was this good I would have started earlier.

Hmm, I'm still not convinced.  I did find this patent for extracting vitamin B12 from sewage (1953):

Quote
Process of preparing vitamin b12-active product from sewage sludge
US 2646386 A
Patented July 21, 1953 PROCESS 'OF PREPARING VITAMIN Biz-AC- V TIVE PRODUCT FROM SEWAGE SLUDGE

<snip>
In accordance with-one embodiment'of this inverition a product having a high v'i-tamin'Biiactivity is one which comprises a water-soluble fraction of a sludge resulting from the *microbiological treatment of sewage." This aterso'luble fraction maybe obtained by leaching a dried sludge of this character with a suitable solvent such as water to extract the vitamin B12 active material, separating the undissolved residue "and then further concentrating the resulting solution by evaporation to form a residue or concentrate that has an extremely high vitamin B12 potency. ,4
<snip>

http://www.google.com/patents/US2646386

But that was specifically intended for animal feed.

In my quick search I haven't found anything terribly authoritative on how B12 is processed for human supplements, though there was this:

QuoteIs B12 Vegan?

The vitamin B12 component in B12 supplements and fortified foods is made by bacteria and sourced from bacteria cultures; it is not taken from animal products. However, some companies might put gelatin in their B12 supplements, though this appears to be less and less common. It is easy to find vegan B12 supplements on the Internet or in grocery stores in developed countries.

There are some live food supplement companies that rely on spirulina or other algae, rather than bacteria cultures, as a source of vitamin B12. You should not rely on such products for your vitamin B12 as testing has indicated it is not a reliable source of active vitamin B12 (more information).

Streptomyces griseus, a bacterium once thought to be a yeast, was the commercial source of vitamin B12 for many years (8, 9). The bacteria Propionibacterium shermanii and Pseudomonas denitrificans have now replaced S. griseus (10). At least one company, Rhone Poulenc Biochimie of France, is using a genetically engineered microorganism to produce B12 (11).

So, I think those articles siting sewage as a source for supplements are probably mistakenly mixing up B12 for animal feed with human supplements, but can't confirm either way at the moment... and it's very late.

I was really hoping Art and Cody went more into survival and sustainability topics in depth, and not spend so much time on the bitter TV breakup of Dual Survival...Art used to do a lot of off the grid technology shows in the 1990's that I liked...hopefully he covers that topic soon!

Yeah, me too. It took Art two plus hours to get Cody calmed down enough to start talking about general survival and off-the-grid stuff. Not Art's fault really, Cody came in all amped up about Cody's butt-hurt over TV.  It took Art giving a long "I get it" speech to make Cody comfortable in the last hour.

Art amazes me in how kind and patient he can be.  I sometimes hear a guest with an attitude and get angry and know if I met him I would just tell him off and walk the other way, but Art knows the anger is not directed to anything that he's done and works with the person.  He has a natural gift of this.  He could be a therapist, and I get a better understanding of people by listening to him.

Cody seems like a good guy, and a lesser person would not have discovered that.  I really enjoyed the show last night, and I agree that Cody has more to tell and we should get him back.

Well, I think we need to give Cody a lil break.  Not the first time a guest got on and all they could talk about was professional butthurt... I found this a little more entertaining though the two had a pretty good chemistry.  I think Cody had a couple of points he overstated.  Still the back and forth was good! They both made me laugh on a number of occasions.

He's going to be a great recurring guest I hope... now that the butthurt has been aired.

I lasted about 20 mins listening to hoaxy's flying circus...

If you like  to hear someone whine, you did miss a doozie.

Cody is a bitter hack.....get Matt Graham...who is Cody's replacement on dual survial and you will get all the useful info you need!

Compare and contrast.....

Note Matt is actually fit...and wears sandals!

To be fair, you were the guy asking for the inside poop (ha!) on why he left the show, and we sure got it.  I'd never heard of him.  It sounded like he and Art bonded over their struggles with corporate management; I hope this means he comes back after showing Art how to make fire like he said -- what I wouldn't give for a video of that!

It was never less than entertaining and, though I'm not into the survival thing, I appreciated it as much for the insights into Art's character.  Very much a give-and-take interview.  Talent, indeed.

Oh, yes I did...I just thought it would be one of the 15 minute segments though...not 2 hours...

I hope Cody comes back--some of the discussions (short discussions) about the mindset behind preparedness were interesting. Building to suit the terrain and climate, putting up food, etc.

I gotta say it was kinda cool to hear Art encouraging Cody to do his own thing.  Then, about as equally cool, to hear Cody kinda throw down and announce he's working on his own DIY thing.  I would definitely be interested in another "survivalman" type of show featuring Cody.  So sorry I thought he was a hippy I just kinda assumed he was since he sounded "Hippy softspoken" and made all the usual references to momma earth when I've seen him.

I have been a Cody fan for years...he is definitely not soft spoken...I hope he comes on again and focuses on OTG sustainability and survival after a major disaster...

I put on the archived version at work today, as I'm doing something mindless... and I gotta say, while I found this highly amusing and ridiculous last night, it's actually a really good show.  Still not 100% on this guest.  He comes off as entitled and obsessed.  Someone said in this thread, though, that this was a good one for insight into Art himself--and THAT I agree with.  Guest... not so hot.  But this is a GREAT "Art Bell" show.
