Trouble with the Fermi Paradox is that it makes a couple of technological presumptions that might not be solid in 2015.

1. Civilizations are detectable through the means of our time. They may not be. Advanced civilizations may not broadcast the enormously powerful repeating radio signals SETI looks for. Radio seems to go obsolete, much to Dave's chagrin. And even then, the truth is that if a civilization was 2 or 3 light-years away from earth, they would have a tough time detecting our radio signals. If they were looking for contact signals designed to get someone's attention, which is what SETI does, we've only ever broadcast one signal and it didn't repeat. SETI needs a repeat to prove anything, yet we've never sent one. Civilizations may not repeat signals intended for contact if we are any indicator.

2. Advanced civilizations explore the universe in an easily detectable way. They may not, there could be hundreds of monitor probes in the solar system watching us and it's highly unlikely that we would ever know they were there.

He mentions Temporal Accords.  Star Trek all the way...Go figure!  This seems like a compilation of the hopes and dreams of all people.  The rest of his narrative seems like every hipster's utopia.  His secret code means nothing.  I can email Art and tell him a story.  Then I'll give him a code word so he knows it's me.  Yeah, it's called my email address.  I was excited when Art mentioned this message,but....  *sigh*

Yeah I do not think it is legit. At first I thought 'David' was talking about the tv show 'Continuum'. Great show by the way.

With extraordinary claims there comes a need for extraordinary evidence.
Even if the person gave a few minor future events that we could expect in the next 6 months or so. Something... anything... but nope.

It is just a person with an active imagination and the love for the sci-fi genre.

Would not at all surprise me if it was someone from this very forum that trolled him with this one..
Love the part where the goes on about time travel being strictly controlled so that timeline is not completey changed, but yet expect nothing but a slap on the wrist for sharing this story.

And what he calls paradise to me sounds pretty dystopic. The "future" he talks of seems like a incredible boring place to live in and suggests that people will be even more of a collective society with little to no individuality.

The Fermi Paradox is extremely relevant in 2015.  Not sure what you're talking about.  In fact, it's becoming more and more relevant as time goes on.

Everything on this subject is speculative and subjective.  That's the first thing you need to wrap your head around.

Also, you need to get past this silly notion that something that was brought up 3 years ago can no longer be relevant today.  That's preposterous, brother.  Some of the very same lofty things that we are talking about in 2015 were being discussed thousands of years ago.  History repeats.

What you're getting stuck on is the "science du jour".  It's a fallacy to think that anything on this topic is "solid".  As long as the veil exists, nothing is solid.  It's all just philosophy and opinion.  Granted, some individuals' opinions are more informed than others.

Oh, I can find stuff to nit pick in Travis' claims tonight. First and foremost being that someone who works outdoors their entire career (as a woodman, for example) getting skin cancer is hardly conclusive proof of an encounter with a spaceship. 

Second, not taking a sick day off work for 9 years, or whatever, is some weak shit too.

Travis is one of my favorite guests. I've listened to many interviews with him over the years. In last night's interview he sounded better than ever. Perhaps even...improved?  I think there may be an untold story that was alluded to in the interview.

Or not. Great entertainment at the very least, as always.
