NASA created the most conservative strategy for redundancy ever thought of back then. They had all sorts of problems. But they kept them minor due to prep, practice, and over engineering. I actually just sent a text to a guy I know who did work on the program. He is a ham now and tends to be up late at nights. Thought he might want to tune in, and perhaps, call in. Not sure if he is still up though...
