I would love to hear some stories of actual covert operations....

Well this guy sounds like an analyst as opposed to a spy. He likely ran spies when he was in Iraq but he certainly isn't going to speak of them, unless he really, really doesn't like them since this is the sort of thing that can get them killed even long after they are no longer active.

Well it wasn't really Rome anymore by that time. Byzantine was the new capital and the western half fell. So technically your right but it wasn't the Roman Empire anymore.

I go by what they called themselves and the Byzantines called themselves Romans. During the Greek war of independence, when they were taking the islands, the locals were yelling "The Romans are here! The Romans are here!" as the Greek army arrived. The Greeks saw themselves as "romaion" well into the 19th century.

Technically the Roman Empire still hasn't fallen, there are a few monasteries left in the islands that are still flying the double-headed eagle of the empire and the claimants to the Byzantine throne live in Italy and still claim it.

New here tonight.  Is there a way to turn off all the warning when posting?  I just want to post and not have to play a click game of closing warning about other people posting.

There might be a way to change that within your Profile settings.

I wonder if Russia ever built another Tsar Bomba? What a huge bomb

As far as I'm concerned you could burn both parties to the ground and empower both Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders as Co-Presidents and let them figure it out.

A Libertarian and a Socialist working together. What could possibly go wrong?

:D

It would be an interesting experiment... We need serious change.

The end of Escape from LA was definitely one of my favorite film endings of all time.

The only particular bias I can sense in Faddis is towards 'intelligence' bureaucracies like the one he belonged to. Otherwise I think this is a great show, he was one of the best guests on DM so his return is welcome as far as I'm concerned. If you don't want to hear politics and events, well, it's one episode of a nightly talk show. Go jerk off or smoke some crystal meth, whatever you want to do, there will be another one tomorrow.

Art is back and that's what everyone of us wanted.  Now that he's back, I see complaining about the shows from the "test" through the second official show tonight.  Spoiled brats.  You get a chocolate sunday but there's no cherry on top?  pssshhhh!
What gives!!!?   Sit back and relax people.

However if Charles Faddis isn't sporting that sweet beard I'll be pissed.   Thank goodness I don't have Skype.

CHEERS EVERYONE!

of course I meant operations that were no longer active and had no agents to compromise...

Supposedly not, but I don't know if that can be confirmed.

Gassy Man

Did I miss the discussion on biological warfare?  Seems like they're talking about the same Cold War stuff that people over 60 always think is current.

Snowden a traitor?  Credibility and care done with this tard guest.

I agree with you about Paul but Bernie is even more of a socialist than Obama is.  Actually he is a socialist so it is more than likely he is a c#&*%$#t.

WOTR

Well, this Snowden thing from an actively campaigning congressman is it... Good night all.

Lilith

Good question to ask his thoughts on Snowden IMO.

mortalwombat

if I had a way to call in, I would ask the guest what he thinks of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (regarding Iran's nuke program which will be reduced by ~98%, negotiated with the European Union, China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States), which most experts agree is a great idea; I think Charles Faddis would say it was a bad idea.

"There was another option"

Look at it this way... if they do not start working together- we are all screwed.

I have a double-headed eagle flag. It was given to me when I was in seminary. I've flown it a few times. Great questions from neighbors hehe

Yeah, I'm almost wanting to bail here myself.  Staying for Art, but this guest is worthless.

I was thinking the same thing.  This guy sounds nuts.  Enemies everywhere---must counter them all.

Wow you are naive.

Calls Snowden a traitor, wants people under 60 to vote for him, lol.

Yup, his answer says an awful lot!

Zenman

It's definitely Doom night. I'm gonna need to watch some Family Guy after this.

Same here.

No...collapsed and fell into ruin.

Only the Western Empire. Constantine had moved the capital to Constantinople/Byzantium/Istanbul before Rome fell circa 400 AD. The Eastern Roman Empire continued for another 1,000 years. We tend to forget this in the West because we refer to them as the 'Byzantine Empire' instead of the Eastern Roman Empire.

He lost me on the Snowden thing. All this guy is doing is campaigning.
