Snoory has nothing on Hoagland. Talk about dropping the ball, they failed to recognize the best talent they had for a weekend/fill-in host other than maybe Knapp.

I think Noory realized that, but he never imagined that Richard would ever be given the opportunity to prove it as a competitor.

I think the scientist in him doesn't want to be ridiculed for being a seer.

Yeah, I liked Wells, I know a lot didn't, but I did. And I like Knapp. But Hoagie's in their league, maybe better. Certainly better than Jorch.

when JBW first started on C2C i thought he was fine..good voice and all..but his shtick got old fast

That could well be, they might have been keeping Hoagland down. Maybe they were afraid to let him have the Pluto special because they realized that he might outshine Noory. Art saw the talent though, and here we are.

I think they, like the rest of us at the time, didn't think Hoagland would make a very good host.  I also think Tommy was pulling the strings as Hoagland said, because in the infamous spat, Noory was all like "shut up, shut up, shut up!  You're going to screw it up!"

I think so too. Art said in his thread that it was when Art hooked Hoagie up with Rossy that things launched like a Saturn V. I would agree with that.

This is a great idea.  Can you imagine the calls Hoagie would get?

I think the can of Reddi-Whip, anal-loving hippie hitchhiker chick might be a good place to start.   :)

I'm not so sure. I freely admit that initially I didn't think Hoagland would be good, but he ridiculously flew passed my best case scenario expectations. But that's only because I'm out here in the listener world as far as perception. Tommy had much closer contact like Art did and Art recognized the potential but they didn't? I dunno.

Oh I've tried the old "I'm an Egyptologist" line.  It just never works though.
