Huh, but you don't really need all the baggage about consciousness and this and that. Just say the universe is a computer simulation, we're all AI's existing within it, and that every religion, the paranormal, etc. was all programmed in and actually exists to the individual AI's that experience them. No need for fragmentary god consciousness. Then he could take advantage of Bostrum's postulate that it's almost impossible that the universe isn't a simulation.

I am reminded of this now

If there is a god, he/she is a computer scientist running a simulation of a universe. *bows*

I'm high, so I'm being profound this evening.

I always thought he was a pimply faced teenager playing Civilization.

Why does it even need to be inside of a computer? Couldn't our universe simply be a holographic projection of a 2-D universe?

SciFiAuthor

Yikes, that's not what Kurzweil claims. Consciousness becomes the machine, not the other way around.

I've sometimes wondered if we are nothing more than a game of "Sims" and that 100 car pile-ups are caused by bored teenagers on some alien planet.

â€œOnce upon a time, I dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was myself. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.”
