I wouldn't complain about wimpy winters, my sister still lives in Chicago and she is happy about the winters, i live close to the equator, not much changes here year to year

We're not Chicago -- so we can complain.    All our seasons used to be pretty much perfect (rain and all, IMO), not any more.  Even so, when I start bitching or wallowing in Woe Is Me, I just look at a weather map for the rest of the country and see that we're still this little oasis way up here in the corner while the majority of the country is sweating or frigid, and then I shut up.

I really have no clue about climate science, but all I can say is anecdotally, living in the pacific northwest region for the last few decades, something has changed, and the changes seem to be accelerating.  Summers are hotter, drier, longer.  Winters are wimpy.

I've lived here all my life (far longer than a few decades, believe me) and the difference between now and how it was when I was growing up -- hell, for the first 30+ years, is shocking (and heartbreaking).

I like the snow, it made the cold tolerable, or at least a lot more fun. But yeah, other parts of the country are getting nailed w/ crap they're not used to. Here's the other thing a lot of peeps forget. The weathermen/women hype the living snot out of weather that was common 15 years ago just because we haven't seen it in a couple of years - especially when the news is slow. I always take the forecast with a grain of salt.

I dont miss the snow at all, i have lived in the tropics for 7 years now, i visit my sister once a year and she always wants me to visit at Christmas, i usually go in March or April, i dont want to see snow in Chicago anymore, plus i can ride my Harleys year round here.
