Ha!  Great, Weird and Nazis.  Right up there with Nazis on the Moon.

LOL!   It wasn't always Nazis.  It was everything and anything.

I like the music.  I wonder if Hoagie has anything to do with the selections. I'm thinking, "no".  But the person should get credit.

Every once in awhile Hoagie drops a word I haven't heard before.

He has one of those 'new word a day' desk calendars.

It's like they are carrying on two separate conversations. Sputnik vs. Jack Kirby

Hoagland's life clearly took a wrong turn somewhere because the chap whose life revolves around comic books is the one keeping the conversation (somewhat) grounded.

Hoagie shouldn't play with either fireworks or lighter fluid.

That would seem reasonable, when your as hot as Hoagland...

Speaking of comics.  Let me share.  :)

This was my favorite comic growing up.  8)

That was Kirby art too.  He did Sgt.Rock also.

He's a poseur of the highest order. I hate when writers use words they damn well know that 95% of readers are unfamiliar with. Today I read an article about Edward Teller the physicist and he was referred to as a 'caitiff'. I'm well read but that's not a word I've ever seen before so I looked it up - not surprisingly the dictionary noted it was 'archaic', a word from the Middle Ages. There are 20 other words he could have used but he wanted to show off his intellectual superiority.

yup

Huh.  I thought about it.  Always was on the fence.  It is enticing to be a pioneer.   I'd miss the forests and lakes, etc.  Can't stand a barren landscape.

You'll want to avoid David Foster Wallace, then.

Who was the author of the article on Edward Teller?

Yeah, I didn't even like Sgt. Rock but I'd still buy it sometimes when I was kid for the cool artwork. He really brought comics into the modern era.

it was actually his obituary on Stanford's website, had no idea he lived so long.

QuoteIn later years, Oppenheimer would take on the status of a folk hero to scientists, Teller the vengeful caitiff who destroyed him.

Doesn't mean I don't relish the thought of personally culling the heard.  Just saying.   ;)
