No, it's not.

Not from your perspective...not yet, anyway. For lots of other people (black and white) we are becoming a fascist police state. The actions of the police and how heavily armed the government is making them prove that.

You're right of course but most of them that do it the right way have no problem with that.

That seems to be true in my experience.

comaphobe

i think your perspectives of police state have variables based on where you are from. if you live 5 hours from the nearest major city obviously you won't see a whole lot of modern cosmopolitan police assemblies or surge drills. but if you see that shit once or twice a week and it's affecting your commute you know something is rotten in denmark. everybody knows this is the new economy and has been for quite a while now. not everybody can justify it, and some will defend it.

future drone targets

If one comes around my house, I'll use my machete after I've injured one with a glock.  Maybe a little batting practice first. ;D

You know I don't trust the government but the feds don't control the police yet and most cops I talk to have nothing but disdain for our federal government right now.  I see the cops as the first line of defense against the enroachment of the federal government.

Hoagy doesn't know the first thing about electricity does he. ::)

First off, ad hominems are a pretty weak argument, so drop that.

Second, I'm not 'blaming blacks' for anything.  My only issue I've brought up is that the media and divisive identity politics are crafting an exaggerated narrative that a nationwide army of racist cops are going out there slaughtering people.

If they want to keep shooting people (and they seem keenly determined to) they need to spread the love around a little more equitably, otherwise, it's just a matter of statistics. If the numbers show that they're always shooting a significantly higher number of blacks then I think you could call racism. I know they show the opposite but I'd like to know what the percentage of unjustified shootings is in regard to race. I'd say this would show a more accurate picture but we're also dealing with a legal system that's had a tendency to declare no wrong doing in most of these incidents.

A police officer's job is to uphold the law not have opinions on the law. They aren't the morality police and nor should they be.

I agree with that.  I sure as hell don't want any morality police. God help us if that happens.

"I see the cops as the first line of defense against the enroachment of the federal government."

Their opinion of what encroachment of the federal government is, or isn't, isn't their job.

that doesn't equal them being the " morality police"

When the fed govt. decides to unconstitutionally take away our rights, that is what I mean.  And yes I do believe they should be defied when they enroach on our liberties.

That would be a good thing to know I agree.  But you're correct that the deck is stacked in favor of protecting cops in general.  It's very difficult to prove anything since they have the weight of the system behind them.

I had a minor incident which I tried to complain about so I could get it on this local cop's record, and when I got the police report it was half lies and omissions of important details.  Any court is going to treat the cops 'record' as much more valid than my eyewitness account.  The best thing to happen has been people starting to film encounters.  Hopefully the courts will uphold our right to film these, as some cops try to block them.
