most people may know an AR15 these days with all the pop culture stuff, especially war sim videogames... but also many people confuse mass shooters for using full auto-military grade versions and then cable news networks tell it's viewers that people were running around with fully automatic machine guns.

i have a couple of documentaries on the north hollywood shootout. both miss a couple key elements of the story, like the cops having to upgrade their ammo via a private gun shop nearby.

worse than violence is media spin. it's so much more damaging and offensive as hell. i wish people would wake up and create an opinion by themselves for a change. twitter has followers, no leaders.

Sure one can pick the incidents where things went south but I wish we had a true statesman in the oval office who could put these things in broader context, like how there are thousands of traffic stops a day which are handled safely without anyone's civil rights being violated.
