To waste time and resources on this is stupid.
I am a huge fan of preserving history, but waste that hurts other preservation and more pressing projects is ignorant. Just cut out a section or two of the ship (bridge and quarters) for a museum. Scrap the rest of this monster. Either way, it needs to come ashore.

Yes but we still love ya. Everyone has their trip, that engine room pic, I was a machinist mate, I know that scene very well.
So good on you.

What was that guy's name?  Jonny Quest guy right?
Captain Murphy from Sealab. He kind of looks like Race Bannon from JQ though.

Totally agree with you.

Fun quote:

"... safest place to keep a ship is in harbor ..."

Or sumsuch.

norland2424

Just beach the bastard or let a private company salvage and maybe use skeleton for a reef?
Scrap plate is going for $80.00 per ton.

Not missing a thing. Talking about saving a passenger liner.
We missed you in the MITD thread tonight. ;)

I found records that my mom's parents came to America from Eastern Europe aboard a German steamship in 1908 named "Amerika"
They were listed on the ship's manifest under 3rd class (steerage) - reminds me of the movie Titanic.

ShayP

Hoagie probably wants the ship to be turned into this....I kinda want that too.  ;D

Hey PBS, the only way to make this documentary more boring would be to eliminate the video and put it on radio... with pictures!

Hoaxland is going to be pissed when he finds out 90% of his listeners tonight fell asleep during the show and never turned off the stream.

-_- zzzZZZ

To paraphrase Steven Weinberg, OSOM is like a crazy old aunt who lies and stirs up mischief, but it was beautiful once.

They're still on about the old boat?  Sink the damn thing as far as I'm concerned.

Sweet! They can get a minuscule fraction of what they spend monthly back! :D Thing needs to come ashore and be broken down. The costs from that outweigh hemorrhaging money every month on it and the risk it poses in the sea via pollution. That or send the old girl into the sun Adama style.

Morgus

Hoagie's extra guest Georgia Lambert (who has been his guest on a couple shows before) telling about taking voyages on this ocean liner always in 1st class. Lucky her...

Hoagland tried to pass off one of Rossy's shows as new.  We made a little noise about it.  The next show, Hoagland said it was all an experiment in 'labelling' and that we at Bellgab were the peanut gallery.  He also said anyone who falls asleep while listening and doesn't subscribe is a useless eater.  He really went on a crazed rant.

Yesterday, he had open lines and got nailed throughout the show.

Holy fuck....."I remember the feel of the gown around my ankles."
