It was worth it just to hear the "hyperdimensional torsion-field physics, dUh".  That oughtta be the motto on Hoagie's website and t-shirts and mugs.

For the younger crowd:
I don't think most peeps today truly understand what a party line actually was.
A party line was common in rural areas - usually along the same stretch of road. Generally, 20-40 different homes were connected on one phone line. You would first pick up the earpiece to see if anyone else was talking on the line. Common courtesy dictated that you wait 'til their conversation was done to use the line for yourself as only one call at a time could be placed outside the party line, but you could still listen in on the peeps that were talking, and join the conversation too. It was the greatest thing that ever happened for the town gossip though. They could let the receiver off the hook and wait for someone to pick up the line. Then they could listen in on everything that was said. This was before there was such a thing as a busy signal.
On incoming calls, it was like morse code, each house had a specific ring pattern, i.e. the Jones had 2 long rings and one short, the Marcums had 3 short rings etc. etc. etc.. The phone didn't ring just at one house, it rang at all houses on the party line. Not only did everyone know there was a call coming in, they knew who was receiving it once they learned the ring codes.

What, how do I know this you say ? My grandmother used to tell me stories about it. If you had a party line, you had no privacy on the phone. We're in the same situation today w/ cell-Phones. Anyone can intercept those signals with home made or very cheap equipment(plus it's very simple to modify a police scanner to pick up cell transmissions), but most peeps think it's a private call, ha ha ha.

I think my Dad kept our party line until I moved out at 17 (in 1986!), or at least for much of my childhood.  He may have been forced to go to a private line by BC Tel a few years before that, can't rightly remember.  Everyone else had gone to private lines long before then, so we pretty much had it to ourselves anyway (my Dad was cheap and would have preferred not to have had a phone at all).  It was probably many years later until I didn't feel I had to pick up the phone and listen before dialing.

Just listening to Bob Bright's great song Othersideofmidnight... the more you listen the more it sounds so good and stirs the imagination. How can I get a copy!

I think Bob bright's song Other Side Of Midnight sounds like a mix of Joe Cocker, David Bowie & Leonard Cohen. ;)

And the Lavenda interview was riveting. One of the best I've heard.

Gotta say, as someone with low expectations for RCH's show, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I agree WC. I was just catching up this weekend on the programs I missed and I have to say this was a fantastic and riveting show.

For those in the 19.5 Club, make sure you don't miss this one ++++1

Rossy, please have Levenda on again.

OSOM rocks....BRAAAPS!!  :)

One of the ST movies...so from your username, are you a kitty that lives in an RV?  8)

No. I'm a remote viewer who wears a hat with an angry cat face on it during ERV (extended remote viewing) sessions. It gets cold down on the floor.

I hope so, Hoagland is totally radio worthy. In my market, it's Dave, Redeye or infomercials during OSOM hours. Hoagland would be by far the best thing on during his slot in St. Louis.

Is that Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

Could be, I think she just won an Emmy last nite, maybe for this performance?

Tonight will be very cool, esotericism, occultism, and ancient mystery schools with our guest Georgia Lambert.

She is the real deal, and very nice to boot.
