Not him. It seems that whenever someone states a disagreement with him, even without malice, he immediately resorts to invective. When that behavior is turned around on him he at best gets defensive, saying he was screwing with you to get a reaction, or at worst whines to MV about the mean people that are responding to his insults in kind.

He has all the humanity and sensibilities of the common garden slug.

what i don't get is why he's upset with me.  all i did was innocently show up after an absence of several days only to find some frothing madman telling me of the various ways in which he'd like to see black men violate my wife.  nobody reported any posts or otherwise told me a single thing was amiss around here during that time, so i guess i'm just supposed to telepathically "know" quickcarl is displeased with the goings on here and emerge from my slumber to remedy it for him.  some people really do believe that i'm literally staring at my computer monitor 24 hours per day, taking in each new bellgab post as it's submitted.  in reality, i've only read probably 5% of this forum's posts, as i'm very selective about what threads i read... and that percentage is even less these days since my life has become so hectic.

Although it's made clear the politics thread isn't moderated, I think he thinks deep down, it is or should be, and would be on an individual level if he (because egalitarian, he isn't) shouts loud enough. His meltdown started because N in T found (I think accidentally) an Achilles heal in him, stuck at it and QK ran with it. Because you hadn't stopped/ missed it, he drew the conclusion that you endorse N in T's postings and their content. His logical conclusion therefore is you're on 'his side', and if you endorse him, you should enjoy the same medicine he (QK) was taking. Hence the invective towards you. You should know QK isn't reasoned or of sound mind. Still, what danger is a paranoid psycho armed to the teeth?

Obviously, fidelity in the QK household is a sore subject, as is the apparent paternity of his "child", whom I repeatedly identified as his "stepson", without rebuke.

Final analysis; Quick Karl is, in fact, self hating for so many inadequacies, including an inability to maintain a close familial relationship.  He mollifies his rage at himself by unleashing a torrent of obstreperous invective at people in an attempt to feel important and potent.

Instead of what he clearly is: unimportant and impotent.

Plus his wife really does have a sweet, sweet ass.

Simply because a majority or the media is telling us something doesn't mean it is true or accurate. "Consensus" can be wrong, particularly if there is lots of money to be made and lots of budget, taxation, and regulatory reasons why governments and international agencies support the "warming." IF it were truly caused by human activity than why would data need to be constantly "readjusted" or manipulated, why would scientists discuss same in emails that were hacked, etc? And one can simply look at behavior: if carbon-footprint was so important why would these scientists, activists, and politicians fly huge jets and private limos to far-flung destinations over lavish dinners to discuss the warming? Why wouldn't they just video conference? Why are government buildings and universities (where this "consensus" works) air-conditioned (and usually cooler than a normal household does?)

Interesting. I'll bet they will figure out a way to make money off the "warming." Certainly there are already seen benefits for some industries and countries. I think the "big boys" actually don't mind regulation or taxes (despite what they say) but they want to know what the regulations are so and stable (not changing all the time) so they can plan for costs (unlike the government they plan for decades from now.) Increased costs (whether in regulation, taxes, etc) will hurt the smaller guys and, like with banking, allow the "big boys" to get bigger.

I liked Raymond, did good managing the company and good value on stocks and the dividends. Despite the reputation as being evil they treat workers well. I had a uncle who started with Humble and retired in the late 60's (after Standard bought them and then merged it with Exxon) and he had a full pension and benefits til he died on 05. Crazy that the company could support a scheme like that and still pay dividends and return profit (like most companies the pension scheme has been changed now.)

I think many companies who make more money than God can afford to treat their employees and investors well.  There are long stretches of time in which, even in down markets, energy does well.  That should not be construed as being honourable.  They can certainly afford to pay for good PR pieces and for various perks to Congress. 

Regulations change because if we did what needed to be done in one fell swoop there might be chaos.  But the way we're going, it's too little too late.
