I tried to find a shot of the neon sign from my old Lunar Lander haunt but no luck.  It was one of those early 60s Jetson-like space age signs.  Real eye-candy at night.    So many things today just look so generically bland to my eyes.  Signs, cars, etc.

I know you're not taking requests, but if you could sneak a lime green neon saguaro cactus in the sign somewhere, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it.

Last night I was researching old trailer park signs, including the one they made for The Last Starfighter, with that beautiful animated blue star.

Yes the whole "Adult Swim" channel is a kind of descendent of LTV.  It doesn't have anything on it quite as cool as "Aeon Flux", but there are some good shows.  My current fave is "China, IL" which is quite weird and often hilarious.

I have to specifically mention the older Gillian Anderson. I've been re-watching seasons 1 and 2 of Hannibal in preparation for the upcoming third.

Anderson plays Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, Hannibal Lecter's psychiatrist.  She's as gorgeous as ever.

Received the Phantasm album from Mondo several days ago in perfect condition. As it turned out, the black and blood vinyl was also limited to 500 copies and sold out quickly.  I don't feel so badly now about not getting one of 500 mausoleum marble vinyl versions.

Though, now, I am reconsidering opening it. I've seen copies priced at one hundred or more dollars already. A good return for $25 investment, but in the scheme of things not enough to part with the record, but enough to make me think twice about removing the shrink wrap. I have all the music on an old and quite rare CD if I need to fight the urge.

You know you're dealing with a fun company when the normally blank side of a shipping box is emblazoned with the esoteric company logo. Is it me or is that netsuke-like M logo evocative of Cthulhu?

("evocative of Cthulhu." Ha! I do amuse myself.)

I like this company. It's not surprising that they are out of Austin, TX. I will definitely look them up when I am next motoring in their vicinity.

I got one of these when I was around 8 or 9.  At that time they were not produced anymore, and it was a few years out of production when I got mine.  Still a badass bike even though it was beat up.  I loved it.  Nowadays one in mint condition will fetch up to 2K. 


I give to you....the Schwinn Krate 'Lemon Peeler.'  They had 4 or 5 other styles/colors at the time.

I was about to decry the loss of the better 'n Cap'n Crunch cereal Quisp, sometime back in the 70's ... but according to wiki it came back in limited distribution in 2012 - however I have not yet encountered my favorite "quazy" cereal in current times.

As a young lad, I had the pleasure of riding some of the last of the passenger trains, pre-Amtrak.  I just missed the era when traveling by rail was first class.  Oh, how pleasurable and romantic it must have been to travel by something such as the Santa Fe in it's prime.  Crossing the American southwest in style.  Meals in the diner car, enjoying the scenic views.  Drifting off in a sleeper, as the clickety-clack lulled you into dreamland.

I find over the top artwork for heavy metal albums can be retro entertaining. If the art is slightly less than professionally executed, or primitive, or self-taught, all the better.

Goblin just released "Four of A Kind" on limited vinyl. You have to love those Satanic hands, the band members as cards, the faces in the clouds...

The damned cover looks like something painted on the side of a van in 1986. Love it.  I would photo-link, but am afraid MONDO will remove it after it sells out, so will attach.
