Hi Nebraska888.  :)

WOTR

Is it really Knapp tonight?  I still have not fired up the espresso maker, tossed on my jammies, packed a pipe, nor poured a rye... I'm really slacking.  :-[

Holiday Sunday is no excuse. Jammies or not you have to be ready

I'm sorry for being such a poop-butt, but I'm beginning to fade.

Goodnight, me fellow Knappsters.  Have a good evening and enjoy the show. :-*

Did you know that Gabby was in fact nothing like his western persona? He was a New Yorker who was apparently quite wealthy before the Stock Market Crash and then lost everything. He didn't learn to ride a horse until he was in forties.  He  was highly intelligent, well-groomed, liked to dress well and probably never touched a spitoon prior to his Western days. He wasn't even a fan of Westerns.

By the way, howdy all.  May not be around long though. Very tired.

Hi 21st & WOTR. :)

Yeah Neb, Knapp is killing it.

I'm reading a book about Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson and Dodge City right now.  So far, it is really good.

This is also Gabby Hayes.  A far far cry from the usual images we have of him.

I am amazed that this program had peaked my interest!  But,  Knapp has the skill to engage his guests and listeners.  So far, I am sipping a good whiskey and remembering Paul Newman and Robert Redford!

I'm a huge Western film fan but that one didn't do much for me but I've never been a huge fan of Newman and Redford though I did like the Sting.

In his later years, Wyatt Earp had a bar (saloon?) in San Diego. Last I knew the building was still standing but the way they are building here not sure it still is

Yes, it takes me back .....also, beautiful Katherine Ross.  Obviously, these guests are refuting this fictional account.

Meh.  I found it boring in stretches.  I've seen it recently too.  I'll let it be known that I revere pre-1968 Hollywood and don't like many of the new classics made between 1968-1976.  I like how films embraced sexuality once more but a lot of the films leave me cold.  I start liking mainstream films again when Lucas and in particular Spielberg enter the scene.  It's an interesting contradiction in me as I love late 60's and 70's exploitation cinema.

My interest was peaked, so I did a search to see if Butch Parker and Bonnie Parker where related. (Long shot - I know,) but I did come across this...

Descendants of Bonnie Parker

That tried to redirect me to some malware

Luckily it thought my iPad was an android device.
