He was literally blown apart in the finale, so I can't see them bringing him back unless it's in a flashback...

Speaking of flashbacks... I hear they want J.J. Abrams to do the reboot.

For starters Mulder & Scullys basement office will look like the Apple Store, with 1000% more lens flares. Then he will wipe his ass with X-Files canon, and have lots of action, explosions, flashbacks, flashforwards, and flashsideways.

Mulder will be actively bi-sexual, even though he and Scully have been married for 8 years. Mulders main male squeeze will be Director Skinner, which will be offset by the fact Scully has been having a 4 year secret affair of her own... With alternate universe Skinner.
J.J. will stretch out these tidbits for 3 seasons, between the hype and lens flares.

Exactly what I'm afraid of.  Just leave it at the original classic series.

Don't forget the massive plot holes, formulaic action scenes, and shaky cameras.  Or the incongruous Spock cameo.

I'd blocked out the shaky cam with digital shaky cam added... goddamnit.

Thanks for reminding me how amazball J.J. is... fucking dirty hipster.
J.J. and crew believe their P.R. God only knows how much money they paid some firm, promoting how amazing they are. On the other hand he can throw shit at Hollywood, and they can't green light it fast enough... so maybe he is amazing; at least to the Hollywood lot, and the mindless consumers who lap up his work. Even if a galaxy can easily pass through the web of plot holes.

Even when he tanks, the big wigs line up to pipe the guy. At first glance I would think he made a deal with the devil, but upon deeper reflection he may well BE the devil.

Interviewed Dean Haglund about this tonight:

Good interview!  If X-FILES returns, I hope they bring the Gunmen back from the dead.

(And you'd think Vince Gilligan would now have enough clout in Hollywood after BREAKING BAD to revive the LONE GUNMEN series... they should crossover with BETTER CALL SAUL.)

I think they need to tweek the format and do it in the form of a 21st century Three's Company. Mulder can be the recluse blogger who spends 18 hours a day scanning conspiracy sites.  Scully can be his feisty roommate who decided there's more money in twerking videos than in forensics.  And they can both live with a flamboyant hybrid alien who they constantly have to keep out of trouble.

Yeah, that could work.

The original X-Files mythology episodes were leading to a big event tied to the Mayan calendar end date of Dec 21, 2012 when the aliens would return/invade earth. Wonder if they would continue that arc or drop it?

So they were a few years off....

Planet X is still on it's way back.  :(

Huge X-Files fan here. Watched the entire catalog in order, with my wife, a few years ago. Also watched the Lone Gunmen TV series in the chronology.

So... I'll watch the new stuff if:

1. They get some good actors for Mulder / Scully (or the originals).
2. They have a new set of Lone Gunmen. I am almost 100% sure that Tom Braidwood retired from the industry a few years ago.
3. They find a way to make the show more than what it originally was.

Oh, I forgot to mention they all live in an apartment in Santa Monica.  Skinner is the downstairs landlord who thinks Mulder is straight, because its queer to be straight, but really Mulder is awaiting gender reassignment surgery.  The hybrid is training to be a chef under his dean, The Smoking Man, and parties on weekends with his wingmen, the three Lone Gunmen who live upstairs.  It's not totally canon but only the diehard should notice.

I'd watch that.

Captain Kirk watches Scully on netflix?  Surely this has caused a rift in the space-time continuum.

Actually it's Kirk's avatar watching it within the Matrix, which is really messing with my reality.

Great show. I've heard another interview with Dean and he's always good. The conspiracy stuff, the anecdotes about the mid 90s internet. Fun guy to listen to.

Please let it be about grey aliens and not Frankensteins or Draculas.

Hey now...Bad Blood was one of their best eps. ever!

I pretty much only liked the alien mythology episodes.

And the funny ones like where Mulder switched bodies with Michael McKean.

Heh, Mulder's "oh sh..." into the opening credits.

And of course Luke Wilson as both a charming southern gentleman and a slack-jawed yokel.
