Well worth the 3 day round trip I had to take to see it.

I hear crossing the Andes on a donkey is not for the weak spirited! BTW, who`s your friend??

Just re-watched Big Fish. It is a wonderful little movie. It is a metaphorical fantasy, or is it?

If there are any Bette Davis fans here, TCM is running a Bette Davis night tonight. In fact, all of August is "Featured Actors" month.

Edit:  A new featured Actor / Actress every day.    :)

Wow, three days! Nice. I have recently decided to watch all Star Trek in order. I just finished the first season. They didn't show those episodes much on TV I think because I haven't seen them. Though I never searched for them. The City on the Edge of Forever was interesting. I think the point they were trying to make was the death of one (or a few) is better if it will save the deaths of hundreds (or millions). I am torn between agreeing and not agreeing. I would be interested in hearing others opinion in this varied site here.
Hi Roswells.  :)    Yes, that point is directly stated in the second movie ( made famous by Spock ) and in episodes of TNG.

Hey Logan. Check out the fairly new Classic Movie thread.  Needs some love. I think a few of us like me got wrapped up in the Olympics and such

Yeah, I know. I've been rather neglectful of that thread of late but I simply have not had time to write reviews and such.  I've seen a bunch of movies though so perhaps I'll write about a few of them later.

The North Star is one of them.  One of the few pro-Soviet films to come out of Hollywood and, man, the first 30-40 minutes of that movie are unbelievable.

Looks tasty, Tiger. Could use some good greens, potatoes and a nice bottle of white wine and we'd be good to go.

Although, maybe this might be more to his liking. Get that angry bird!

lol. Eraserhead!  When I first started the clip I thought it would be Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  Your choice is much classier

Finally finished watching The Nice Guys with Russell Crow and Ryan gosling. It could have been pretty good but it sucked

I thought the same here.  I saw it when it first came out and thought it was awful.  Why it has such high ratings at Rotten Tomatoes is beyond me.  It says more about the idiocy of today's typical movie goer than it does about the movie.

The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) is just starting onTCM - Borris Karloff & Valerie Hobson - rhaaw rhaaw :)

Gotta love the horny miniature king created by Dr Pretorius - LOL

just watched...

wasn't bad(not really a fan of musicals) quite interesting in terms of how bad the Jewish folk have had it

Blind Man: "And now, for our lesson. Remember, this is bread"
Monster: "Ungh Bread      Ungh"
Blind man: "And this is wine  - to drink"
Monster: "Drink "
Blind man: "Drink!"
*clink galasses in toast*
Monster: * glug glug *    " GOOOood"
Blind man: "We are friends, you & I"     "Friends"
Monster: "Friends, ungh ha ha"
Blind man: "Good"
Monster: "Good"
Blind man: "And now, for a smoke."
*Lights match - monster gets fearful over the fire*
Monster: "Ungh  uUUUUuuungh"
*Blind man chuckles and says *  "No No, this is good, smoke, you try"
*  Hands monster cigar *
Monster: "Smoke"
*Monster starts puffing away *
monster: "mmm mmmm MMMMM MMMMM MMMMM   GOOOOOOD  Goo *chortle, chortle* ood"

LMFAO - These were made as horror flicks, but the comedy aspect is unmatched - LOL
Karloff is a supreme actor. I'd forgotten how good these flicks were. These were on "Saturday at the Bijou" when I was a kid. It's good to see them again.

Not a lot of musicals I like but I do like this one.  Mainly for the historical view  But also Tevya (Topol) is so great

Re: The BellGab Classic Movie Playhouse
Thanks Sister Tiger. Didn't know about that thread. :)

I wonder if the 'Robot Chicken' mad scientist was modeled after Dr. Pretorius. :o

BTW - The electrical lab in this movie has got to be the coolest Mad Scientist lab I've ever seen in a HollyWoodLand production.

Edit: short clip
