I'm a Kirk guy myself.  Watched the original series like a 100 times when I was a kid but never could quite get into Next Gen though I do like Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner.  The Crosby gal was good too.  The others, meh.  Frakes was good in North and South though.

Mandingo somehow managed to go almost 2 hours while barely touching on the two plot points promised in the premise. (Slave pit fighting and jealousy based slave/slave master's wife sex.

"I am Chris Farley" was loaded with big names who knew him, but still managed to lack in emotional punch.  I was especially surprised at how quickly they bypassed talk about his death.

As a kid I liked watching both StarTrek TNG and Reading Rainbow.  Took me years to figure out LeVar Burton was on both shows. So I will never be critical of the people working at the Daily Planet not able to tell Clark Kent is Superman with glasses lol

Bonnie and Clyde was on TCM Friday,  Dunaway was super sexy when she was pouty. Beatty was fantastic as well. Great little cameo from Gene Wilder.

My dad was hit on by gals even into old age and he was bald too. Of course he had a winning personality and charm plus he stayed in shape.  I'm semi-bald but I don't have the charm factor my dad did.  His blue eyes may have also helped.

I watched ST regularly until Captain Janeway.  She was never believable in her role to me for two reasons:  #1, Her voice was that of a 2 pack per day smoker, but we never saw her light up.  # 2, I remembered her more for her soap opera role (Days of Our Lives?  Q was a soap opera actor first too, and I don't think I ever forgot that either.) Sir Patrick Stewart's theatre background made him the most credible captain, imo.

+2.  Pleasence makes a "pleasant" segue into Halloween.  We're entering the season.  I saw the first Halloween-stuff store open up in early August.

Recommendations for flicks for the season?  I've already got a viewing of the remastered "Phantasm" down for the 24th's Art Theater Day and will catch "Phantasm V, " when it's released in October.  Also have down the Riffrax of "Carnival of Souls" for October.  It'll be a treat to see "Carnival of Souls" on the big screen, regardless the quality of the Riffing.

I just bought the Criterion blu ray edition of Carnival of Souls.  I glanced at the print just to make sure the blu ray worked and the print is beautiful.  I will watch it in October.  I'm looking forward to the Frankenstein and Wolfman Legacy blu-ray sets coming out in a few weeks.  I'm also going to get some more giallos.  The Monster of Piedras Blancas and a Hammer Blu-ray set is coming out.  There's even a Jess Franco Dracula film that I'm looking forward to. Daughter of Dracula starring Britt Nichols who is a 20 on the 1-10 scale.  She's about 6 foot, has long legs and great boobs and ass.  A real looker too.





I may check out the Rifftrax but I may be out of town when that's going down.

You're welcome, TL.  I also noticed yesterday MeTV started running a commercial mentioning the special showing of "The Cage," and it also stated they would be showing the first regularly broadcast episode of "Star Trek," "The Man Trap," during their regularly scheduled weekly broadcast of "Star Trek," just prior to the special "The Cage" showing.  7:00pm EST, on the 10th.  All to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the show.

"The Man Trap" is the first episode of the American science fiction television series Star Trek to be broadcast. It aired on NBC on September 8, 1966. Set in the 23rd century, the series follows the adventures of Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his crew aboard the Starfleet starship USS Enterprise. In this episode, the crew visit an outpost to conduct medical exams on the residents, only to be attacked by a shapeshifting alien creature seeking to extract salt from their bodies. "The Man Trap" was written by George Clayton Johnson and directed by Marc Daniels.

Blu ray "Carnival of Souls."  Cool.    I have a soft spot for low-budget, cult classic horror and sci-fi.  This wiki description nails if for me.

Sounds like Svengoolie needs to place a warning up front, before the showing, just in case some of the "awesome" crowd stumbles upon the show.

'Compulsion' is a 1959 movie that I watched for free on YouTube.  It stars the great Orson Welles and E.G. Marshall along with some other capable actors and actresses. 

The movie takes place back in 1924, when a couple of rich college boys take it into their heads to kill a young local boy and they go right ahead and do it.  (Not shown on camera.)  The two students think that they have such superior intellects that they can easily get away with the crime.  Along comes E.G. Marshall (a District Attorney, I think) and it's fun to watch him easily trip the boys up and the next thing they know, they are being tried for murder. 

Enter Defense Attorney Welles who has been hired by the boy's rich dads, for a fee of one million dollars.  Orson isn't really interested in bucks, he just has a thing with capital punishment and he does his best to spare the boys from the noose.  That's right, they will be hung if found guilty. 

You will have to watch the movie to see what the verdict is.
