Bridge Of Spies. Even if you already know the story, watch it for Tom Hanks. Hes always good. I had no idea who Mark Rylance was until I saw the movie, and he was really good as well.

I have to admit the Jesse Stone stories look decent. I'm going to give them a go.
I finally got around to watching The Martian. Not a bad movie at all. I love me some Jessica Chastain.

Just finished up Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise (2015)

Thanks for informing me of this series! From poking around on IMDB it appears there may be a couple more coming.  :)

Beasts Of No Nation : One of the best films I've seen this year. Leading in nominations for Indie Spirit Awards and Oscar buzz has begun.  This is a powerful and uncomfortable film that is so well done. Provocative and thought provoking. As I've read in other reviews, 'This is a film that I feel odd in recommending yet it as its very heartbreaking ... However,  this is a masterful work'

Five minutes into it, I knew 'Shit, this will hurt, I don't know if I can do this' (as my father recently passed on this Thanksgiving) Can I sit through a film so brutal? Somehow, through such great direction and performance, I couldn't pull myself away. Remarkable film.

Saw 'Concussion' last night. Interesting story which I was unaware of and great cast. Thought Will Smith gave a great performance. He's up for a Golden Globe for this role.

Binge watched the first season of Fargo again. What a fantastic show. Then I started the first episode of season two, and barely made it twenty minutes in before I gave up. It reminds me of True Detective. The first season was brilliant, and then season two sucks.

No Country for Old Men (2007)

Javier Bardem... One of his best performances.

Anything by the Coen brothers is gold.

If you have never seen it, and you need a few laughs, I recommend "Second Hand Lions" with Robert Duval (not Robert the Doll) and Michael Caine.

That's one of my favorite low budget "quirky charm" movies! Duvall and Caine are great together, and the bit wth the plane was brilliant.

A great hangover movie to have on hand is Napolian Dynamite.

I say one thing for "No Country for Old Men."  Bizarre.  Especially with Javier Bardem.  I'm not sure what is stranger, his haircut, the captive bolt pistol, or the ending.

Saw 'Spotlight' (2015)

Michael Keaton, Liev Schreiber, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams

Absolutely brilliant. What a great film!  Stellar cast. It's raking in nominations for Critic's Choice Awards, SAG, Golden Globes. Considered one of the best films for 2015. So well done. This is a film I plan to own.

Seeing 'The Big Short' tonight.

We were planning to see The Big Short (2015 - Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling) ... We decided to see The Danish Girl (2015 - Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander) instead.

I didn't expect to like this film. However, I kept hearing good buzz on it. First of all, this is one of the most visually beautiful films. My goodness, the cinematography is exquisite. Costume design, art direction (predict Oscar noms) and other film awards this season besides Oscars. Critics Choice, WGA, PGA etc. The performance by Redmayne was impressive..(He's going to get an Oscar Nom again for this one. I would be surprised if he doesn't. Vikander is exceptional as well. You may remember her in Ex Machina. I feel she's an actress we will see more of.

On Acting. Having studied and as a former working actress, I must add here that often the audience is unaware of the physical role of an actor. Not just voice. The hours and years of work on physicality and expression of a character are so minute and lost on the average layperson (audience member) Yet, they can sense it being contrived.

Redmayne masters this. Does so with immediacy and so subtle it's not too 'methody' Some method actors don't pull it off. Looks planned and intruded on delivery of a scene.

Tonight or tomorrow, going to check out The Big Short.

I may be a bit positively biased towards space and sci-fi so I'll have to give it a rating of 7.5
Worth seeing. Nothing really mind blowing happens that you probably don't see coming.
But I think it holds the pace nicely so that you are entertained enough to enjoy the ride.

Not nearly as good as say Interstellar or Contact. I found the comedic moments in The Martian a bit over-dramatized and cheesy.
