Currently have Jesse Stone: Night Passage (2006) on the screen. Watching Tom booze it up and drink coffee across America.

OK, just got back from the movies. We saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I was quite pleased. It had the feel of the first two, Star wars and The Empire strikes back.

I would recommend to everyone.

Good to hear.  I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I derived GREAT pleasure when Stone handled the domestic dispute call.

Nice. I didn't watch the new ones but if like the older ones than I'm in. Even if my local theater, I'm told, has a policy of "no masks and only non-lit plastic weapons.")

Watched Delta Force last night for the first time since I saw it in the theater in 1986.  I went to see it then mainly because I was a Lee Marvin fan and thought Norris was kinda cool but his films were really not my thing.  I think this is probably the best film made by Golan and Globus aka Cannon Pictures.  At least of the ones I've seen.  That's not saying much and those 2 will always be relegated to the pits of Hollywood Hell after the waste of celluloid that was Superman IV.
It was fitting finale to the career of Lee Marvin, all-around tough guy.  I wish his character was a bit more developed but this is a Golan and Globus production after all.  Norris has a decent screen presence but he can't act his way out of a paper bag.  He performs a few minor martial arts moves but nothing impressive.  I have yet to see any films where his martial arts skills impressed me.  Here, he mainly sits on his motorcycle looking like a bad-ass as he fires small missiles at the terrorists.
It's a gung-ho pro-American movie so I wouldn't recommend it to the Hate America first niche.  It is cheesy and silly with the same theme music repeating over and over and over in the background.  The first half is better than the second half cause you get to know the people on the plane that are abducted by the terrorists.  Forster was a decent villain but sometimes his Arabic accent sounded more like a Spanish accent.
I can't give this a higher rating than a 2.5 out of 4 stars but its a good popcorn flick and holds your interest.

ha, that brings back memories ... some 'classic' 80's action fare (they were even referenced once in an mst3k comment)

They also produced The Happy Hooker Goes To Hollywood. LOL.

Cannon also did Powaqqatsi.  It's hard to believe.  They must have done so. much. coke.

The Ladykillers. Not the original, the Coen Brothers remake. Wasn't good the first time, and wasn't good now. I guess I'll just have to admit that the Coens made a bad movie.

I think I'll stick with the Guinness/Sellers/Lom Ealing original.  That is such a funny film.  If you haven't seen it, get it now.

Yah, the stuff from Ealing studios were hilarious. I like Coen Brothers but not sure just what went wrong, aside from being a remake, but the movie was bad. I also can't handle Tom Hanks in non-comedy roles so there was that.

I had one major disappointment. It had to do with the antagonist. I'll wait to say anymore.

I have the Coen remake in my dvd collection but have yet to watch it.  It's been sitting in my basement for over 5 years barely touched.  One of these days I'll get around to it.  I'm not sure how I feel about the Coen brothers.  I haven't seen many of their films.  Blood Simple was decent.  Fargo was ok but not one I'm crazy about.  I loved Oh Brother Where Art Thou mainly for its connection with Sturges' Sullivan's Travels.  Music was also great. I thought No Country For Old Men was very overrated.  I have True Grit somewhere here but have yet to watch it.  Personally speaking,  I'll take Duke over Jeff Bridges any day.  I also have Barton Fink somewhere here but have yet to watch it though I have a feeling I might love that film.  I absolutely love films about Old Hollywood.

They have some misses (Ladykillers most prominently in my mind) but I like them. Somewhat due to personal reasons (filming locations, accents, etc) but I also like their choices in actors and character actors. True Grit was ok but I agree not as good as The Duke and not as good as the book, but it is rare when movies are better than the novel.

I will say that although Ladykillers wasn't a good movie, I did enjoy Tom Hanks performance quite a bit. That was the only redeeming quality of the movie. Despite my dislike of the movie, I have always been a huge fan of the Coen Brothers. They can really tell a story.
Another Coen Brothers film which may not be as well known as the others is "A Serious Man". It's one of my favorites of theirs. I'm going to re-watch that one tonight.

Watched Don Verdean earlier. Still have no idea what was going on. Odd little movie. Wasn't bad, but wasn't much of anything really.

Just finished watching Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. The wife and I watched both seasons of Twin Peaks over the summer. It was both our first viewing and we really enjoyed both the show and movie. I'm surprised at all the hate directed at the film. Looking forward to the re-visit coming soon.

He-man and She-Ra's Xmas special.  Much like the 80's cartoon series it was inoffensive and completely forgettable instantly.

I've wanted to see that movie. I liked Napolean Dynamite, Gentleman Broncos, and Nacho Libre. They've got a blend of weirdness and simpleness I enjoy.

Hellboy (2004) â€" Had seen bits & pieces of this before on cable â€" but finally just got the chance to watch this whole thing on Netflix. Terrific, fun movie that has all the cool stuff I like: decent characterization/motivations for the characters, Nazi’s (including hot blonde lady Nazi),  Rasputin, “Paranormal Research” organizations,  slimy monsters and even a big ol’ Lovecraftian Elder God type creature…Ron Perlman is really great as Hellboy too. The plot hangs together really well for as over-the-top as this gets at times... Got to track down the sequel now…

You're right it is terrific fun. The sequel is fun but not as much as the original.

Just saw some local theaters showing "Miracle on 34th Street" and "Its a Wonderful Life" on the big screen- not even the usual cult theaters, drafthouse, or etc but normal movie theaters. I guess they realized that they had to go back to good movies to compete with the Star Wars? In any event will check out and opportunity for younger generations to see great movies on the big screen!

You'll like Hot Rod if you haven't seen it.

Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (2006)

I had some bad information on the "order of events" in the films.

If you want to watch them in "linear story order", you need only switch episodes 1 and 2, then 3 through 9 should be watched according to year aired.

Order by air date:

   1. Stone Cold (2005)
   2. Jesse Stone: Night Passage (2006)
   3. Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (2006)
   4. Jesse Stone: Sea Change (2007)
   5. Jesse Stone: Thin Ice (2009)
   6. Jesse Stone: No Remorse (2010)
   7. Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (2011)
   8. Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (2012)
   9. Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise (2015)

Story order:

   2. Jesse Stone: Night Passage (2006)

Thanks. I did go ahead and google it. There was some confusion since some of them didn't follow the books or something. But I concur, since I've now caught up on all the them excepting Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise (2015) Thanks for these though. They're not bad for TV movies, not bad at all!
