House Of Cards is very Game of Thrones. Francis J Underwood makes the Boogeyman look like a pussy.

Watched "Rush" last night; much better than I expected.  I wasn't following Formula 1 in the mid-70s and missed the Hunt-Lauda rivalry.  A little weak on cinematography considering the subject; I watched part of "Grand Prix" from 1966 on cable the other night and Frankenheimmer really did a great job of getting the F1 ambience considering equipment of the era.

+1 HoC is great series, as is Vikings on History Channel.  Vikings is like pg rated Rome *old hbo series*, but with well Vikings.

Also recently watched Anchorman 2, 47 Ronin, and American Hustle.
All 3 deserve a watch if they sound interesting to you.

A2 - eh it's funny, not as good as the first to me.
47 Ronin - Samurai lord of the rings. It's good visual effects, guess the story was ok too.
AH - worth a watch.  It's not a comedy, it's about an FBI agent that gets in a little over his head trying to make a name for himself.

OH YEAH and then this 8 minute short  - very good...similar to a big budget movie that came out last year.

I'm just finishing Season 1 of GoT and I love it.  I saw one disk worth of HoC and thought it was boring. Kevin Spacey's fake drawl was distracting too; I don't understand why the writer feels so obligated to make a New Jersey actor's character a Southerner.

I thought that HOC was boring at first but it gets really good. Francis J Underwood makes the devil look like a boyscout. His wife is a close second.

I wonder what percentage of deaths in DC are the result of operatives taking of loose ends.

So, I'm guessing your all caught up on Season 2 of HoC then, what a show the way it's went so far, I can't wait for season 3 already.

And I told a friend recently the same thing, that you just need to watch em all together for the show to make sense, kinda like Lost...

Just started season two. Finished season 1 earlier today. Not quite on the same "HOLY SHIT" level as The Red Wedding but damn.

John Titor's Tachyon Transmissions - a documentary filmed in 2016.

I plan to watch it in 2013.

The original COSMOS series with Carl Sagan.

I finally watched episode one of the new Cosmos last night after Seth MacFarlane spoke about it on Bill Mahr's Real Time.

Ok, is it me or does the host Neil DeGrasse Tyson remind you of a black version of Gnorge at all? Something about the mustache and the strange and kinda pompous way he narrates the show gave me a weird Gnorge vibe. I did like the show. But I started getting a Noory creep-out as the Tyson guy was all "amaaaaazing" and stunned at his own verbage. Had a GNS wiff to it.

If anything Gnooray copied it off of Neil, it's been his way and is his way of just over simplification of the 'science' so that anyone can understand it from 5 years old to 100.  He's been at it for years. Catch up on the Nova PBS and Universe seasons 1 and 2 for sure, he kinda became a little too famous for getting rid of pluto back in the day.  There's even a special about that on Nova.

Deceptive Practice: The Mysteries and Mentors of Ricky Jay - 2012

I recently finished the 7 DVDs COSMOS (1980) series, then soon after completely at random, decided to watch this documentary on Ricky Jay the famous card magician.

What a great coincidence when a photo was briefly displayed wherein Ricky is shown with Carl Sagan discussing throwing cards on Mars.

Un-fucking-believable timing.

Kelt

I just watched Nekromantik.

Yeah... just don't.

A little charmer out of Scotland called Angel's Share about a young father doing community service to avoid prison, his community service cohorts, their supervisor who gets him interested in whiskey, a barrel of newly found rarest of rare whiskey and a plan. Plus, kilts, kilt jokes and 500 Miles by the Proclaimers. And subtitles wtf?

Jamal Abanane

Just watched all the Wes Anderson stuff from Bottlerocket On...love it...especially The Royal Tennenbaums

Just finished watching "Memorial Day" on Netflix.  Lovely movie and if there was any justice
in the world, James Cromwell would have been nominated for a boatload of awards.
Then again my Father is a 92 year old WWII veteran and it had a lot of meaning to me.

LOVED Rush.

Just watched Grand Budapest Hotel tonight - highly enjoyable.

i was just at my friend's place, and when I got there, they were watching The Prestige, so I got to sit down and watch the last ten minutes of it again.

I had forgotten how it ends. Fucking creepy!

In the last 4 hours I watched 2 episodes of "3rd Rock from the Sun" on dvd and all three episodes of "Resurrection" on On Demand.

I just hope the latter has a proper ending and not just another Lost where the writers don't know where to go.

But MAN, that John Lithgow is one funny dude.

paladin1991

Been catching up on 'Revolution' TV series.  What is about Charlie that I find so intriguing?  Is it here eyes or her lethality.  Reminds me of High school and being a gaming geek, "I''d roll the dice with her and come up with...."

I really loved "Rush," too.  I think you turned me on to it last year, Bateman.  Thanks.  I caught it at the theater and need to watch it at home again.  I enjoyed the Nikki Lauda portrayal.

Waking Ned Devine, just for Ian Bannen
Papadopoulous & Sons. Meh, one long cliche about a rich Greek businessman who goes back to his fish and chips roots,  right down to the Zorba the Greek dance at the end
A Royal Affair  Would it be too much for producers to cast people who at least resemble historical figures somewhat accurately, rather than everyone be a Keira Knightley clone? This could have been an interesting movie about power and love, but instead, it became a historical romance with overtones of social issues. George III's sister resembled him, not a winsome young thing. Coulda been better.

This is how you dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6K7OC-IKnA Opa!
