I agree.  We don't know, other than through a confirmation or denial from Art.  The contents of the post seem to be more concerned with letting us know about his or her retention than Art's situation.  Additionally, a lawyer should be generally unconcerned with what anyone has to "suggest" as a course of action.  Yes, a little fishy.

This has a particularly fishy odor:

"Those of you who have ideas on how to proceed with the ground troops, i.e. BellGab itself, should feel free to send me a personal message with your ideas.  Videos, posting at certain sensitive websites, and other such actions, are all encouraged if done in a legal manner."

Have a care, the laywers (real and fake) on this forum get very grumpy if you question their authenticity and/or legal wherewithall.  I don't know who is representing Art, he himself has not made that clear here.  Whoever his attorney is, he/she at least had the good sense to tell Art to keep quiet.  Also think Art's counsel had him request a stop to the on-slaught against SXM.

You got it.

Maybe Art should use Dave Noorie's lawyer recommendation from before if he's scraping the bottom of the barrel on a forum or taking counsel from Bob Crane seriously.

I have to agree with your summation. Whatever Art's doing, at this point we're going to have to trust that he's it so that the outcome is beneficial for himself, and, secondarily for us.

Also, if I may guess....

Art's from a generation from before all this internet social media activity, such as memes, facebook, tweeting, etc.

I think his reaction to "knock off the #freeartbell" stuff, was more him, in an old-timey way, telling us whippersnappers to knock off the shenanigans.

Kinda like a dad putting his goofy teenage son in his place when he says or does something stupid in a public place.

just my humble opinion, though

Good googly morning!

I lived in Portland OR back in the 90's. Did a short stint in a Kinkos there for the overnight shift. It was a tiring, boring job, and the only things that kept it interesting were the whacked out homeless people that crept into the store to use the bathroom, like the old guy Orion, and....Art Bell's Coast to Coast.

This was late '93 to early '94. FUCK! 20 years ago.

So, I become a fan and listened regularly, or at least when I could. I remember how popular he was becoming (maybe 1995-96 I think) when I went to some guy's house to look at a shitcan, old Volvo to buy. The Volvo owner had to cut my inspection of the car short because it was Sunday night, and he and his roommate (these guys were in their 50's or 60's) had to get into the house to listen to Art's Dreamland. What's even funnier, I was thinking the exact same thing as I was standing there at the old Volvo--Art's coming on soon, and I gotta go.

I still feel the same way, even now, 20 years later--Art's coming on, and I gotta go.

Sherry, I have a few times. It was great living there. We hauled into town right after we got married, had a couple of kids, started our careers, etc.

We moved back East about 12 years ago. Portland though, in me, never fully left.

Portland's funkiness is still there, which makes me feel that all that stuff from the 90's, including Art Bell's CtoC, is still roiling around in the cronosphere and in and out of our heads. If you know what I mean.

Hahaha...I'd hate to see the NC INCREASED from 2 to 5 years.  ;)

It's not adult language. It's profanity. I'm not squeamish by any means but why do so many posts I read have FUCK and other such words in them. It sure isn't necessary. Can't people say what's on their minds without adding foul language to nearly everything? It's called having some CLASS. Would these same people who use these words so frequently talk like that to their bosses or business associates? Adult language my ass. It's more like childish language.

Lighten up, Gilgamesh.

As a "real lawyer" on this forum, I am very suspicious about the user who posted he is representing Art with the NC. Concerns are: 1) the user purportedly solicited Art seeking to represent which is an ethical violation; 2) the user posted information concerning representation which breeches attorney/client confidentiality and is an ethical violation; and 3) the user requested assistance from nonlawyers with ideas and strategy for representation which is an egregious ethical violation in several respects.

If this user is in fact a lawyer whom Art has retained for representation I am very concerned about what appears to be inexperience and unprofessional conduct. If the user is not a lawyer then I advise caution against attempting to practice law without a license.  Either way, it does not seem good.

Any updates since Friday?  I've been busy getting my dick sucked and shooting guns and couldn't keep up with the drama.

Is George still stinkin up the place?

It appears that you signed up on this site on November 8th of this year.  Were you compelled by some force outside of yourself to participate here?
Since participation is entirely voluntary, I echo those who suggest that this might not be the site for you.  There are few things more annoying than a new person who comes in and decides it is their job to dictate the level of decorum on the site.  If you do not like a particular user you can block their posts.  If you do not know how to do that you should take the time to learn to use the site options.  I hope you can use this as a growth experience.

I am not terribly offended by bad language, it's all around us.  There are some people who seem to have a need to show us that they are truly cheap, common, and low creatures.   Man has risen upwards from the primordial sludge, but some like it down there and seem to bask quite happily in filth.  I wonder why?  I don't think 'fuck' any longer has shock value for us.  Is it a bad habit?  Is the vocabulary somewhat limited?

The lower we go in society the more we seem to hear sloppy and degrading language.  Is that what we really want to project to others about ourselves?

I suspect that some who use it are still throwing a hissy fit in front of mommy and daddy in a part of their brains.

Let me get this straight. So because it's the internet, it's totally appropriate to use foul language and have no class????? That doesn't mean you don't have a right to your opinions but opinions can be stated without having to use the F word so casually. It's used almost as much as the word "the".

Not because it internet

It's because it is Noory

Oh noez swear words!

Wait until you break down and use a cuss word. Then they'll go after you for cussing. Happened to me in the Suck Thread.

Your real crime is that you said something normal and human like it would be said in the real world to a group that has a few people in it who are bent on neither being normal, nor human, due to deep-seated personal issues that manifest in the form of hating a voice on a radio. There's something wrong in life, so they transfer and take it out on Noory or his producer or they seek attention by saying the most over the top things they can think of. Others simply suffer from a bad case of group think.

Don't let 'em stifle your opinion.

Yes, yes, I know, go away porpoise, yadda yadda yadda. I'll go back to the Suck thread and gargle George's balls now.

Leaked text message between both parties: "Well we went 'all in' on this one, Mr. Bell, and your new non-compete has been increased to two life sentences plus eleven additional years. Probably should have checked the yellow pages rather than hire us. Sry."

:) I hope Art did a little more research in selecting an attorney than he apparently did with selecting Sirius.  I was surprised from what he's told us related to that decision.  No matter what's going on, here's to wishing him some better fortune for whatever he deems to be in his interest.

Wish I knew Art Bell Portlanders when I lived there (moved 2 years ago). I'm still in Oregon, but no one here knows of him.

Has something new happened for us to be saying that George has definitively won?

I hate to be the one to point this out... But using poor language is one of the more minor flaws that somebody can have.  I consider proof that we as a species still wallow in the primordial sludge to be all around us and present in those who do not use such low, crass, common language as much as those who do.

I cannot tell you how much I preferred working with a group of people who cursed and were "crude" over some people that I presently work with.  There may not be any bad language, but the back stabbing and ladder climbing while stepping on those beneath them is far more telling of how cheap and common we are.  If you honestly believe that ones class and their language dictate what kind of person they are I would have to suggest that you do not have experience working in diverse environments.

I would far sooner converse with somebody who curses that with a self righteous, judgmental, sanctimonious "holier than thou" type who is willing to step on others and attempt to engineer their failure.  Presently my working environment contains more of the latter than the former... But hey!  At least the language is clean. ::)
