A genuine question for all you Americans out there. Does his British accent sound classy to you? Or does it sound as weird and comical to you as it does to me.

Well it's not Cockney...which is very difficult for many of us here in the US to understand, especially spoken quickly.  Hmmm, he has some Scottish twangs from time to time...as far as "classy"...no, this accent would not be one of the aristocracy that is for sure...

Creeped me out for sure. Especially since he said that's happened to him and others in the past with that same subject. He told me to keep an eye out in the subsequent days for more weirdness, but I haven't seen any hybrids on the subway or anything. I don't think.

Could you really tell on an NYC subway? That's probably where they're all hiding.

Depending on the accent. In general there seems to be a sense (at least if one looks to presenters, sales pitches, etc) that the "BBC"  accent (or Scottish- of a not heavy or Glaswegian type) has an appeal to American audience. My local AM radio station runs an ad with an apparently English couple who "wants to buy your house." Now it could be legit (the real estate market here is very hot and lots of foreign investment even) but I think not. And a supposedly Scottish guy tells me how to care for my lawn on commercials. Canadians are (in)famous for being broadcasters on our news and in entertainment, maybe due to bland, non-regional accent for national appeal? Who knows.

"Bateman": good show, some interesting and creepy stuff. I wonder about your light switch. Maybe, if the older style of an actual switch, not set "all the way" and then subtle momentum switched it back? I laughed to find that Nick Redfern now lives in Arlington. Wonder if he changed from cricket to following the Rangers. Bizarre. I find funny how people find themselves living in odd places. (Not that Arlington is odd per se but just why there if one was coming to move to the USA from another country....)

That's a Birmingham-area accent, like Ozzy's. It is hilarious, no point denying it, but in a strangely warm and cheery way. I just can't stay angry at Brummies, Geordies or the Welsh.



As for the lightswitch thing, well... fact is I find this very hard to believe. I also find it hard to believe that you'd cynically mess with us like that, in which case I'm insulting you and I regret it.
I feel this is worth bringing up though. Any other host I would automatically assume it's "showmanship" - even Art. I assume this because they're 'in the biz' and I don't hold it against them.
I'm not sure how far into the biz you are yet, Steve - which is why I find your show so goshdarn fascinating.

Just finished listening; it was nice and creepy.  Some well-judged remarks on the Roswell slides.  I think we all know aliens are a circus sideshow but I don't like it when it's that obvious.  Good show!

Sounds a little like Tony from Time Team.  As a west-coaster all non-rhotic accents sound kind of silly.  We send kids to speech therapy for that.

Nope, just light switches on the wall. You would expect the lights to go OFF if that happened.
