I just tried a search on the shoutcast.com website with "Art Bell Dark Matter" and it found the stream - the only one listed!

I searched just Art Bell....

I downloaded the Winamp app for android to my Kindle.  Could not get it to play the livestream however.  It wouldn't play anything.  I read a couple reviews that say the Winamp app for android doesn't work well or at all for the Kindle.  Yeah, I guess I agree with that!  So I'll try again on my PC.

Check out this article link of the top Kindle Fire radio streaming apps:
http://www.examiner.com/article/top-kindle-fire-radio-apps-for-jan-22-2012

Most of the apps are free, but the only one I saw that says it supports shoutcast streams there costs $5.99, not sure if there are any free apps other than winamp for the android devices.

I named the stream Dark Matters ;)
but on the ArtBell.com website it says the show is called "Art Bell Dark Matter"
shouldn't the stream be spelled the same as the show?  ;D

there are hundreds of Art Bell streams, so thats too hard.
Search with "Art Bell Dark Matter" that finds only one stream.  ;)

SaucyRossy

Yeah I figured that out Morgus.....

Also, this is the app I use on the iphone and ipad, it's cheap and it works great and has a ton of cool features.

that looks like a cool app for apple devices and only 99c, plus it records too, not just a player.
anything like that for android devices?

I suggest in preparation for Art Bell's premiere new broadcast tomorrow night that MV create a new section in the Art Bell's Dark Matter area for "Art Bell Dark Matter Shows" where we can have a different thread for each new show discussion instead of mixed in this section or in one thread.
I hope he can create the new section before tomorrow night.

I'm just experimenting to see what works, not really sure how the webplayer will work tonight, i hope it doesn't time out. If you want to stream, i can provide all the bandwidth, you'd just need to send the source to me (takes hardly any bandwidth to do that). What were you going to stream with? A radio hooked up to your pc?

Just sent you a PM

MV/Liberace!

for shoutcast on android, use xiialive.

the section is created. will you create the threads? i'd like the titles to be formatted as follows:

MM/DD/YYYY - Guest Name - Subject

It's very easy.  No credit card required, and barely any personal info required.

Just tried your link ..... sadly, doesn't work for Canadians. It won't accept our Area Code ......

That StreamFurious Pro for $5.99 might be worth it if it really does play Shoutcast.  That way I could get the live streams you guys are so nicely providing on my Kindle and not have to be chained to my PC, where I can get Winamp to work.  I'm going to read the reviews on StreamFurious and see how good it is.

hope this is the last major section made.

I love the clean nature of this board, it's not cluttered with tons of sections etc.

There are some boards you go to and it's like "Wait, where the fuck? How did I end up here?"

I haven't been this excited with anticipation since the time I had to wait for the day the UPS guy delivered my 50 pounds of silly putty, 4 tesla coils, Neil Young's new Blu Ray album, and my Captain America costume!

MV, thanks. And listen man, you've done an awesome thing here. It's fun. I waste a lot of time cracking up. Damn you!

But seriously, excuse me for further melodramatically patronizing you but tomorrow's graduation day, or is it the first day out of pre-school?  Either way, I believe there are no coincidences, and that the humorous and/or vitriolic vapors risen off these threads have affected, or effected, what was our common desire now come to a screeching start. Congratulations friend, and all of yous.

I read the reviews of SteamFurious Pro and it has only 3 bad ones on Amazon.  Reportedly, it works nearly not at all for the Kindle.  So it looks like I'll just have to listen to the Shoutcast through Winamp on my PC.  I'm going to look into a Wifi speaker that will work throughout the whole house, so that I'll be able to listen to the audio wherever I go in the house as long as I bring the speaker along with me.  I think that will work.  Anyone have any good recommendations for a good Wifi very portable speaker?

Oh wow.  If that works I won't have to buy a WiFi speaker.  Thanks, Morgus!

Indeed. You've given us a home, MV. A place where those who hated how George had destroyed a great program could congregate and talk to each other. And be heard.

I wonder, would anyone have known they weren't alone in how they felt about George and the show without CoastGab/BellGab? And when we got together and let our anger flow, and flow, for over 35,000 posts about how badly Noory sucked, with over 1 million views of the pages - if those didn't exist, Art never would have seen them. It's doubtful Art would have ever known the extent of longing for him to return without this forum. And had he not seen the passion of the CoastGabbers, would he really have pursued a return to radio? I don't think the other sites were nearly big enough or passionate enough to have made it happen. They certainly weren't standing at the end of the fight.

MV, you kept it together. You were Moses in the wilderness, watching your flock, giving us a safe place to be. But the difference in Moses is, you get to come to the Promised Land with us!

Thanks, man.

Ravenna

Agree.  And the hugely long and passionate GNS thread may even be partly responsible for Art returning, coz we all may have fanned the flame of Art's disgust over what had happened to his old show.  'coz I know when I read through the posts on GNS I get angry all over again how that one rather stupid man was allowed to ruin what Art had created.  If Art can come back and do his new show like how c2c was before PremRat/Clear Channel came along, then it will be a redemption of a sort for all of us.

Funny how yet again you single in on me using that word when others get away with it.

I'm getting tired of your attitude ....

I wonder what you will do if Mr bell opens his own forum? The way your treating certain people they will flock to it

Quote from: SaucyRossyTo me while I understand WHY people need a free stream (finances, out of the country, etc) it's a grey area to me.

Yes and any stream put up would most likely be killed if discovered!!

Question: let's say I use a proxy server so the Sirius website thinks I'm in the USA, then I use a made up area code and successfully subscribe... is it possible that if I don't stop the free trial before it's over that Sirius will start charging money for the paid subscription? I know they won't have my credit card number (so they won't do it automatically) but is it possible that after a few months they will send me a letter saying "you need to pay us $200 for the past few months or else"? Maybe I'm paranoid but there were a few websites in Poland who were doing exactly that :P

Question number two: due to time zone differences I probably wouldn't be able to listen to the show live anyway and most likely miss any possible reruns. Is there going to be a download available, similar to Streamlink/Coast Insider (just not additionally paid for)?

Question number three: is it possible to make a free stream of the show or downloads of the show that are available to anyone but residents of North America? Tech savvy people in America who can use proxy servers or vpn or whatever will probably abuse it too and listen for free but I believe there wouldn't be many.

HurdyGurdy

Hi all,

Long time lurker and I've been enjoying the threads on this forum for a long time, especially since Art made his big announcement.

I'm in the UK, been a streamlink member for a long long time - just cancelled as I'm sick of how bad it's got.

I did find the Shoutcast stream in prep last night, but I've also grabbed a VPN service and the free Sirius trial. I'm going to try and use Sirius Gift cards to prop up the membership, if I can get them shipped over here (which I doubt will be too difficult).

I've mailed Sirius to plead with them about releasing their internet service worldwide, but to no avail, maybe Art's show will help with that.

Anyway just wanted to say hello, tell you guys about the possibility of gift cards working if you are in the same boat as me re no cc registered in the US, and also thank the person who has set up the Shoutcast. I love having the backup of that so I can get my Art fix, but I also want to pay my way for him as well.

Cheers

H

i purchased the $5 pro version just to support the developer.  i wasn't able to detect any difference between the two versions.  if money's tight, just get the free one.

first off, i can't catch every single "infraction" and verify nobody else has done anything wrong before taking action, particularly while out of the country.  the forum is too large, and i have a life.  however, you've been here long enough to know how things run and what not to do.  if the frontal lobe of your brain were working properly, none of this would be an issue.

as far as "certain people" are concerned... if they flock to another forum, fine.  i doubt they'll contribute much of substance there, either.
