The General

Always astounded with people that somehow take offense with Onan,
one of the most reasoned and polite members of this forum.

I'll second that.  And, for those who insist on boldly blabbing away with their megaphones about illegal live streams they've got on this form, they need to have their heads examined. I'm surprised MV has allowed it to go this far.

MV's probably busy working on making the site perform better so Smokey Joe can tell us he don't care about no stinking laws.
Hurray for free speech - (that's what free sounds like).
I'm on that list with you Onan.

Settle down Nancy, it's just a small group of coastgabbers getting together for the show.. not like we're rebroadcasting the show world wide on shortwave... hey now that's an idea..   ::)
Also a "pirate" stream is the ONLY option for people overseas who want to listen live, since Sirius blocks anything other than USA and Canada.
I want to see the economic side of this work for the people putting in the investment.  Art has sponsers and the live stream people will still get that contact.  Free access worked for Grateful Dead and they encouraged it and went on to play 300 shows a year for the last 40 years.
I defer to the opinions of Art, MV and even Sirius cuz those satellites aren't free.
They are the ones making the investment of time and treasure.
I sure would like to see some intelligence and respect exercised.

You are right Sleepless... I apologize.

Yeah,

So.......I've only been here a week and pretty much can assure you that Onan is Not at all a prude - infact quite the opposite, and is always very polite is in his replies.  Even in the event the topic is one he could easily dismiss as you know what this is what it is and I'm RIGHT, no matter HOW ya slice it.

As for me, I've never 'condoned my own actions' let alone anyone else's for that matter.  I simply tell ya how I'm gonna behave and adapt.  (Guess my military bearing is a little off these days).

I wanted the Cat-n-the-hat do gooder to see our responses quite honestly.  As a disabled, veteran, who has been to some far out places no human should have to ever go to or see, they can mutually find the OFFs....they forgot to go F#$*.  It's that simple.

And additionally, calling out Art for things he USED to do or don't do ?  That's petty.  Art's a 60s-70s year old man, who has lived his life to entertain you.  And done so, very well.  WHO are WE, to tell him to remember this or that.  He's gonna give 2 pizza rolls what an internet forums are posting in that regard to his past.

-GRRRRRRRR

I wasn't calling anyone out, that's part of his fucking bio and he's proud of it. Furthermore, I was using the example to defend you - even though I feel like people should generally pay for the show.

And one more thing: I LIKE YOU, DON'T BE MAD AT ME!!!!!   >:(

I am so down, But only if you are aware that I will notify the authorities of any illegal activity. (Running Stop signs, Smoking of weed, Streaming of George Snoory show or any other thing of the sort that is illegal) and yes I will have a current updated book of all things illegal.)

oh by the way did you know that selling lemonade is illegal? :)

steelbot

HAHA -  :o ;D

i think the book of strangest things that are NOT illegal is a better read!  But what the hell bring em both and we can shoot things off at each other about what's legal in each state =P

I kid I kid, - Well anyone gonna listen to the Metallica Concert tonight?  HA, of all grey area subjects to bring up (*CoughNapsterCough*) ::)

williedee

wow i leave for 2 days and all of this happens haha. Well if Sirius is THAT worried about their IP, then they'll be sure to shut down all the Howard Stern streams that play his stuff 24/7.. And we all know they paid a whole lot more for Stern than old Art ;)

I'm seeing a lot of childish behavior on both sides of the arguments though.. Not much good coming from either side sorry to say. Anyways, if you had a problem with my stream, don't worry your mind. I don't plan on streaming anymore, too much hassle and others are doing it (better than I could as well).

It was fun, at least until the morality police started a holy war  ;D

i view the posting of a URL as a free speech issue, so i allow it.  also, i'm not the one posting the links and i'm not the one operating any of the streams, so that's all on the person who does post the URL or who does operate the stream.

i will say, the path of least resistance is to give up on running a stream.  i used to run an art bell stream.  the grief and legal vulnerabilities weren't worth it.

;D I do apologize and you are right it was super childish.
I admit It is a huge pet peeve of mine when people haven't graduated past the 4th stage of moral development and sling the word illegal around like it is the final gospel. It is a weakness.

Please forgive me :)

if i could automate it i totally would, but live streaming the internet feed from sirius is just a pain in the butt, and I'm not always around when the show starts. If i had a physical radio/subscription it would be easy as pie..  8)

Well buddy hope you have cute nurses and great food, and not Nurse Rachet and Aramark food!
BTW FYI Aramark is the supplier of food to school cafeterias & Jails with the result in cranky kids and cranky prisoners! :*(

I agree with El Bee, not in the way he or she expresses his or her self, but in respect to us living outside the US. We have been listening for years, but it seems that we are now being left out in the cold. Ah well, we and the millions of fans could always move to the US I suppose.
