This site is like one of those sites that supposedly allow you to download song content, then sign you up with a " trial " membership, then charges  you each month unless you cancel. I recognize the background to the link and there are multiple sites using the same format. Avoid it, its NOT free at all. I got ripped off by one of these sites and it overdrew my account even after I'd told them to cancel.

It wasn't just you - we were crashing everything last night.  I had my stream drop multiple times, and so did many others.

Again, we do know it's Grey area's but really... only works to get the on the fence viewers to pay for siriusxm over time and doesn't hurt when you have viewers that wouldn't normally have listened anyways due to economics, or out of country limits, whatever.   

Now is borrowing my Brother's online siriusxm account against their terms of use, you're damn right it is....But in my defense, he's not using it, he's just paying for it.  I'll continue on as long as possible folks - sorry it's come to this ....

To further the argument with suggesting blatant "Hey look here at my stream" comments causes me to facepalm. SiriusXM, or any business, wants every dime and potential dime in their pocket. On the other hand I realize for many reasons some can't access SiriusXM. I wanted to keep any stream made available to remain very quiet... so much for that. The people that came here and practically put up billboards severely exacerbated the search to shut down streams. To those that have a fitting shoe... thanks for that.

Indeed - the legality wasn't my point I was trying to point at - it was the more at the party crasher feeling the need to register/post that we're all being turned in =P  that's what I was getting at.  I in no way would argue that what some of us have done as morally,ethically,legally correct.  Just kinda laughed.  I've been on jtv long enough to know how to deal with shutdowns =P

There was also a part of me that didn't want to miss a thing, and I wasn't sure how reliable an unauthorized stream would be.  Streaming old shows is one thing... streaming the new show is probably going to be a very quick way to get a DCMA notice from Sirius's legal team.  But I don't know.

yeah - I'm just utilizing the tools at my fingertips having a SiriusXM subscriber in the household - they've got "my" money.  Again, I'm not condoning anything, nor trying to make it better to sleep at night for myself - I'm hoping the Spirit of Art's Show gets more folks to subscribe.  And if Sirius would open up their programming a little better to other parts of the world, they wouldn't be in a situation as this.

This thread reminded me of that. I understand that the circumstances are totally different. A large segment of the audience drawn to Art Bell consists of very technically inclined individuals. And some pirate-ish types as well.

I'm not completely one way or the other.

I do in this case think that people should pay for the service and let SiriusXM know that they are paying specifically for Dark Matter. A potential negative effect is that if too many people steal the show we may never see a 24/7 Art Bell channel on SiriusXM.
