I've played around with shoutcast a bit in the past. I am seriously considering setting up a stream for the show this Monday night ONLY, because it's such a big night.

But it sounds like others may already be doing this. I'll be waiting for those links to be posted but if nothing transpires, I'll try firing up my shoutcast stream and post the link right here about a half hour before show time.

I saw that after I posted haha. Yes, I'm listening right now Via Winamp and your stream sounds great!  I'm assuming you'll be running this tomorrow night?

My stream would be using one of those free shoutcast servers which can be unreliable at times. I think you said in an earlier post that you are running your own server. You're more professional than I am. I have no idea how to run my own server, let alone have any real bandwidth to do so.

I'm just experimenting to see what works, not really sure how the webplayer will work tonight, i hope it doesn't time out. If you want to stream, i can provide all the bandwidth, you'd just need to send the source to me (takes hardly any bandwidth to do that). What were you going to stream with? A radio hooked up to your pc?

Re: the ignore thing, it does make one wonder at times, doesn't it?  I posted the free trial without credit card link a half-hour earlier on this same thread.  I think some people have had me on ignore ever since the whole dolphin-humping gif thing.   ;D
You started that?

I let the Sirius PC app player (running in Firefox browser with flash) play channel 104 for over 3 hours this afternoon and didn't find it timing out or popping up an alert in all that time. Perhaps they removed the timeout in the newer version of the PC app or it only applies to apps on other devices like Ipads or android?

yep sirius radio runs lots of ads on talk channels, only the music channels are closer to commercial free.
The talk radio hosts on a live show for 3+ hours would after all need a break once in a while, I'm sure Art will...

good point about people needing a break...

Yeah, i'm running the new web app, maybe they finally figured out that a timeout was a terrible choice.

On the talk channels yeah.....do you really expect the hosts to talk for three hours straight?!?

besides it helps with revenue directly for the show.

I just checked this on my Kindle and got nothing.  I'm assuming it's no longer streaming 104, or else I just can't get it on my Kindle.  I'll check on my PC in a bit, too.

no sign of art bell tonight, i guess it was a false alarm.. he posted on his facebook earlier that he'd be on tonight at 10pm ET for "The rest of the story"

weird. :/

I'll leave it running though.

I seen someone post that earlier today. That's why I turned it on.  Went to look again to see if I got the time right.  Looks like that post has disappeared now.

actually Art didn't post "tonight" on facebook, here is his exact post:
"Sirius/XM Entertainment section, then Indy Channel. Be there at 7PT 10ET for "The rest of the story"

some folks just assumed tonight, but i figured he meant for Monday Sep 16, his premiere broadcast.

yep I see there is a free winamp app for android here:
http://www.amazon.com/Nullsoft-Inc-Winamp-for-Android/dp/B004O9DEI8

winamp should support the .pls format for the shoutcast stream and once it is playing you can add it to the Winamp bookmarks list for easy access in the future.
however reading some of the comments on amazon indicate the winamp android app may have some bugs particularly with shoutcast streams unfortunately. are there any other android app alternatives for playing shoutcast streams?

Morgus

Someone should start a new thread for each night with a new Art Bell show for discussion on that particular show.
Would be better than using a single thread like this one which is just for info on the stream(s)
You can start the new thread for tomorrow anytime now, since their could be some pre-show discussion about it.

WillieDee I use an iphone app called Internet radio Box, it lets me search shoutcast, how can I find your stream on there?

I just tried a search on the shoutcast.com website with "Art Bell Dark Matter" and it found the stream - the only one listed!

Actually Art's new show is called Dark Matter (no 's' at the end)
might want to correct that on the stream title ;)

I downloaded the Winamp app for android to my Kindle.  Could not get it to play the livestream however.  It wouldn't play anything.  I read a couple reviews that say the Winamp app for android doesn't work well or at all for the Kindle.  Yeah, I guess I agree with that!  So I'll try again on my PC.
