This should probably be in the "Things That Annoy You" thread since it's about Nancy Grace, whom I disapprove of because I don't like lynch mobs and I particularly don't like the cowardly bullies who lead them. But it's about the Zimmerman case. So it's here.

But the news is this: Nancy Grace is toast. It seems she had a heated interview over Zimmerman with the Martin family's attorney, and on live mike she let fly an exasperated,

                                                                "Fucking coons."

Paula Deen was loved and respected by a lot of people, and she still about had the hide stripped off her, and it's a long way from over. But Nancy? Well, I hear they have a poster of her up in the Grand Kleagle's office, but otherwise not so much.

Our justice system is less than perfect; and there are stacks of instances of miscarriages and misguided acquittals in equal measure. It isn't that very many years ago when the defence and the prosecution had to share admissible evidence, so that a 'level playing field' was played out in court. Scottish law is also different in some ways to English/ Welsh law.


But the one thing where currently there is much debate, and that's the televising of cases. Do you think that because your major cases (I'm guessing it is only major cases?) are plastered all over the TV 24/7 that the lawyers and judges play up to the cameras at the expense of the justice in hand?

Human nature is human nature, and as soon as television is injected into an already precariously balanced process, bizarre things happen, none good. Lawyers and judges start seeing a televised case as their one shot at the brass ring, and visions of interviews, tv consultancy contracts, book deals and...dare they dream?...their own tv shows begin to dance in their fevered imaginations. If only the world can see the true wonder of them....

according to that article those words were Nancy quoting someone else, not her expressing her own opinion... If i'm reading lyrics from an NWA song, that doesn't mean i hate the police....

Day 2 of the Oakland Treyvon 'rally'.  It looks like more of the same, only with a somewhat larger crowd.

Occupy is doing a terrific job of dividing everyone and creating chaos and damage, most of the city officials around here tend to agree and sympathize with protests so the police are in another no win situation. 

What's encouraging is they aren't able to really turn out that many people for this.  Just 100-200, although there was another 'rally' in San Francisco at the same time.  At some point they will likely hold a more official protest that will likely draw thousands from all over the west coast.

Watching that embedded video, almost at the end where they show 'protestors' surrounding cars and the police retreating,  What happens when a driver panics and floors it to get the hell out of there and ends up running some of these idiots over?  Or a preemptive attempt at self defense by not stopping the car just because these people decide to come out and surround it?

For the umpteenth time, Zimmerman's defense was not stand-your-ground.  Stand-your-ground was trumped up by a PR firm hired to attack the law in Florida.  Zimmerman's defense was self-defense.

These riots have nothing to do with the shooting. Sure, the rioters want you to think they are supporting that dead kid by raiding a Walmart, but they are all just criminals who were looking for any excuse to go act like animals. The only reason this story has to do with racism is because thats the way the media wanted it.

Sadly the same sort of thing happens over here too. Someone dies, and rent a mob get together and burn he place down after they've looted it..That's when the dilemma over tooled up police officers comes out. Ours were let down by commanders who wanted to play it softly softly. The boys and girls on the ground in some places ended up being sitting ducks; until the light bulb went on,and their bosses woke up and smelled the coffee. 


Apparently Stevie Wonder has cancelled his FL gigs; that'll show em. Especially the ones who had paid to go and watch him and have nothing to do with what's happened! Still, they can always get a ticket from the touts and go into GA if they're not sold out.

Actually I think that, as a campaign consultant, he is by definition of the class an amoral and arrogant elitist; who in his particular case has also been proven to be an immense fool as well.

I think there's a lot of truth in this. Trayvon is just a pretext: they've been told by the media and the race hucksters that they're boiling over with rage. They've been told riots, not mere demonstrations, are expected of them, so it's a freebie - they will face few consequences for their actions in these riots short of for direct murderous assault on a police officer (white citizens are okay though).

It's like in American football when the offense goes ahead and runs a play on an obvious offsides by a defensive lineman: might as well go all the way because it's a free shot anyway; and if anything bad happens like a fumble or interception (or arrest) they just call the "King's X" of the penalty (or Trayvon Rage) and all is forgiven.

One more thing: I think the terrible riots which we've seen committed by millions of white gunowners certainly prove how right the predictions of left-leaning anti-gun forces were. They were so right in their pronouncements that it was really racist rage which was behind that pretextual support for the 2nd Amendment. I know the anti-gun forces have missed a lot in the past, but I have to admit they really nailed this one.
