Best band name of the afternoon...probably an early 80's synth tribute.

And Krystal Skullz is the lead singer. She's got the voice of a chain smoking fallen angel and the "appetite" of a tiger.

Well, if the good Lord's willin' and the creek don't rise...and most importantly, the Methadone don't run out, then we'll be in bid-ness.

....BTW, I thought that you were Italian.

Yeah, all Celts and Saxons and Angles and Francs and such; and no recent Latin genetic donations as far as is known, which isn't saying much. I'm afraid that in the last few hundred years, none of mine ever ventured south of either the Alps or the Pyrenees, east of the Oder or north of Peenemünde (although who knows about those Vikings, who made their annual summer seeding excursions for centuries. And maybe the Moorish adventure tours before that.)

As far as the name, that was a combination of a pretentious attempt at elitism and the near-camp of an arcane, old pop-culture reference to a comic strip noted chiefly for its early use of dramady: "Sardonic"* and this comic strip character....

....whom you will note is the Original Black-Eyed Kid, and so whom I fervently hope was tracked to its filthy hovel of a lair and pinned to the earth with a stake through its tiny, poor, struggling immigrant heart.

* Why isn't "sardony" used as a noun, as in the quality or state of being sardonic? It seems as legitimate as "irony".

Those "Brits" that murdered the Irish were descendents of those frikkin' Normans. Unless I'm mistaken, the Saxons actually promoted those fit to lead into positions of authority whereas the Normans did this "my family is supreme ALWAYS". Typical medieval mentality evolved from that . Of course, the Franks had the same idea with Charles Martel and his grandson Charlemagne.

Look at what William Wallace of Scotland had to put up with that bastard, Edward Long Shanks. Another Norman ass hole.

Other Normans "became more Irish than the Irish, themselves". They often were at the forefront of campaigns for freedom and independence. Robert the Bruce was part Norman too, as were some Highland clan chiefs. Hybrids made great soldiers.

I actually guessed the "sardonic" part. I missed your nod to the cloying comic strip. Unlike you, I wasn't as driven to anger and violence when I saw the waif. My disdain is reserved for New Yorker cartoons.

This sentence adequately explains my ethnic/social background. I chased Guinness with moonshine as I ate my pasta primavera and rooted for the Native Americans in an old western.

What I've noticed repeatedly in recent years is that both sides think posts are "fair and balanced" whenever most of the verbiage leans in the same direction they do. That includes me.  That's just human nature.  When something jostles or offends me, I notice it.  If what I'm reading sounds totally reasonable and full of common sense, I just assume that this is how any clear-minded person thinks.

In reading this thread what stuck out most to me was the post that said the left-wing minority are more "shrill" than others.  I actually chuckled about that one.  I have never once been strong-armed by another leftie (whether or not they knew my own position), but I have been taken to hell and back by the right-wing crowd, without my ever having uttered a peep.  And I mean that almost literally. Christians right-wingers (mostly relatives) tell me I'm headed straight to Hades unless I change my evil views.

IMHO, it IS the Tea Bag crowd and the hatemongers on every radio station I can pick up that have set this nation at odds with itself.  Get rid of them and we can all sit down at the table again and work things out without shooting anybody. (Except for my Texas relatives.)

P.S. I got pulled into this thread by MV, soliciting votes from the GNS crowd (my favorite).  I see now that there are several pages of this I haven't read.  I'm sure I've missed some good stuff, and I'll think about it tomorrow.

I'm pro-choice, and pro-gun.  I back the death penalty, but think it should be used mainly for white collar crimes.  I believe in social programs (welfare etc), but believe that those who abuse the system should be hung publicly. On Wednesday nights......that would really break up the week nicely.

I'm not sure, where does this stance put me?

MV/Liberace!

so... after about 4 days and 47 votes, the numbers are as follows...

53.2% say they lean left or are hard left.

46.8% say they lean right or are hard right.

the numbers don't lie.  i'm glad i put this poll up, because next time some fucking arse log sends me this type of private message crying about how conservative the forum is, i'll have something concrete and specific to point to in the course of instructing him to place his complaints up his poop chute.

by the way... conservatives NEVER send me "i'm leaving, huff huff" messages.  not once.  ever.  always liberals.

I'm going to say there are several reasons.

Conservatives are used to being smeared and name-called, at this point we recognize it for what it is and it just rolls off now.  Up until fairly recently, it worked to shut people up - who wants to be called 'racist' or 'homophobic', etc, but I think most of us are tired of it and just fire back now.  After all these years of pretty much being the only ones name-calling as a political tactic, the Libs have no idea how to react to someone defending themself, let alone putting out opposing views.

That all ended with the election of Barrack Obama.  As we see our country slipping away even faster now, we are going to speak out.  All we need to do is get the R's in DC and the R's running for President to stop being so timid and to start speaking up instead of playing defense - that is so 2007.

The Left are used to all hanging out together at work and parties and everywhere else, smugly dissing Sarah Palin, telling each other how stupid everyone else is, insisting no one ever listen to Fox News or talk radio, ensuring they never even hear other views - it's a shock to them when they find out they can't even intelligently defend their own ideology.  In their whole experience, it's always just been assumed.

For the most part they are intelligent people not used to anyone contradicting them.  They pay attention to current events - but only what the Corrupt Media feeds them and what the air-heads in Hollywood and on TV have to say - and since they folow it and know more about what's going on than other people around them, they can't imagine they've been subject to sophisticated propaganda favoring Leftist positions.

They didn't learn much about the founding of our country, didn't read the documents such as the Federalist Papers or even the Constitution, don't have a solid understanding of economics - all subjects treated as 'boring' and intentionaly kept from students in our public schools.

Add it all up and you have otherwise intelligent people, ignorant in a few basic areas, hearing only one side (which is constantly reinforced by friends and the pop culture), they've been told they are the only ones moving society forward ('Progressives').  They get angry even hearing the non-'Progressivies, and frustrated when they don't prevail in discusion.

Let's compare the the Tea Party demonstrations to the Occupier demonstrations in an honest manner. Let's also recall the vicious comments of leftist celebrities, like Bill Maher, as well as the utter garbage from Air America (if it still exists).

I keep waiting for one of the hard right folks to question your polling methods, or blame the mainstream media for creating a pro-left Coastgab environment.  Have you received any PM's threatening to secede, and create their own Coastgab?

And it will most probably originate out of Lubbock county, Texas. Good old boy Rush Limbaugh will be brought on board, and that feller, Jesus, will be a board member and valued consultant. As far as blaming the mainstream media, I can't for the life of me envision Fox News or CNN supporting the far left. The low likes of Hannity and Coulter are right-handed.

I just want to make it clear that my penis has never aborted anyone. I didn't even know it could do that.

You men underestimate women...ah well, it's been that way since the beginning of time. At the risk of sounding rather risqué, I know women who tell me that, once they got into the boudoir with their man, and he undressed and revealed his John-Thomas to her for the first time, well, let's just say that size does matter, honey, and the gals quickly aborted the illicit rendezvous with some lame excuse.

It's somewhat akin to "lunch bag letdown". After the male in question departed - no doubt with wounded pride - the gals would then head down into the street and to the nearest street corner...where they purchased a foot long sausage off the vendor...with plenty of hot peppers and mayo.

By the way, sir, your wife called. She wants you to stop off on your way home and purchase an extension...cord, a bicycle pump, and a measuring tape. Well, time for my coffee break. I have to disagree with you there, Jasmine.  We men DO have a stake (pun intended?) in the matter.  Someone I was in a relationship with once had an abortion and didn't say a word about until after it was done.  That being said, I'm pro-choice.
