sorry about your bet. We're still dancing over here in Northern California . My parents weren't even in high school yet the last time the Warriors won a championship. And boy did I grow up with some bad teams. It's like the Warriors were Noory my whole life and finally became Art Bell this season.

Speaking of sports.....I've been listening to a lot of old Art Bell programs on TuneIn and I believe I heard Art mention he was an Oakland Raiders fan. 
Hmmmm.....not sure of the date of the program, but time has passed and maybe Art has moved on to a better team.

I found the reference you were referring to but whilst the sentiment was the same the wording wasn't quite right. He didn't mention aliens landing and being pumped full of lead before they step foot off the craft. He mentioned that if aliens came he'd be worried about their safety and they'd be turned into swiss cheese. I will keep looking/listening. Thank you for the assist though.

Oh man, you are right about that. It's killing me. The wait is torture, I have always had panic attacks before shows and this is the Momma of them all, it's the wait and the big buildup that's killing me. Only good thing, it goes away when I fall into what I do, also it is giving me time to perfect the Studio. I just got  a London phone number.

Yep I found that too. Did a fast listen to 6 shows from early 2000s that had promising titles. No luck its like a needle in hay stack thingie.

Ok I have a question for the group, of course we will begin with a live stream as promised BUT if it gets to big to fast we will be faced with a impossible situation perhaps very quickly, I refer to our music which I must have. There are two possible solutions both are tough. If we get past a point where about 70,000 are listening live and not enough people choose to order the Podcast we can either limit Bandwidth which will piss people off or start charging everybody who wants to listen five bucks a Month unless we do one of those things we will go broke pretty quickly. Opinions please???

Could be a moot point if we start small, nobody knows.

I think it's great starting free and having radio stations stream the show.  That is the way to attract new listeners, and pull in former ones.

A lot of people are going to listen to it the next day, on weekends, etc, given the opportunity, because the show is on late and they may need to get up in the morning, so it may or may not take awhile to get close to 70,000 live listeners.  It may not reach the 70k at all, no way to know ahead of time. 

What's likely to happen first is to reach 70,000 for certain shows (ghost to ghost or similar if you are going to do that), or for certain guests (for example someone like a Willie Nelson), so you need to be ready if a one-time breach of the 70k is an issue.


Maybe when it gets close to that on a regular basis - a solid listening base will have been built - and at that time just start charging everyone the $5 or whatever it needs to be to be profitable.  If you decide you need to do that at some point, maybe have a couple of nights that still stream free for prospective listeners, or maybe just Fri nites.

If that's not enough, I'd rather have a few more commercials than no show at all. 

I don't know how it works in radio, do stations carrying it pay for the show?  If not, maybe they can kick in a little down the road to help keep it going
