Has Art unloosed the PR mob yet?

I've searched the Internet for news of Art's new show but unlike the lead up to his SiriusXM show, there is nothing.  He's wise to ask his fans for a social media blitz.  It's unlikely any of the talk radio industry sites will acknowledge him, as their focus is on mainstream commercial shows.  But between corporate radio's diminishing returns and their talent's inflated salaries, Art Bell's bold new enterprise will undoubtedly be on their radar, even if they pretend not to notice. :)

Fabulous trailer BTW SaucyRossy!

Anyone that defines themselves as "liberal" or "conservative" has lost the point of human existence.
How fortunate that I am a member of the communist wing of the tea party and as such am neither liberal, nor conservative.  :P

Have you informed your wife?

Art opening up his facebook posts to comments from everyone is going to make him the late night George Takei. Also good PR

SciFiAuthor, great read.

I noticed that one can post photos to the SiriusXM fb page.  Hmmm...I wonder how long it would take them to notice if someone posted a MITD promo there?

Them are fighting words to a trekker, sir!  This may be the single most offensive thing I have read in the last 100 pages.

Besides, I had always thought that the official drink of the tea party wing of the star trek party was Earl Grey?  Hard to hate the man who popularized the official drink, no?

...Hive mind/herd instinct mentality is the bane of our time. ...

There does seem to be a stigma against independent expression these days.  Often before you even get the nuances of your point across, you've already been labelled, discredited, and dismissed.

The worst part is usually this identity-based shunning often derives from simplistic emotional talking points, not reasonable analysis.  It might make a group of people feel temporarily better about themselves, but does not encourage any long-term resolution of complex issues.

Obviously Art Bell fans however are open to such independent voices and can't wait to hear more of them soon.

Aw, shit. I hadn't thought of the tea. Well, can't heap it on Sisko or Janeway for politically correct reasons. Nor can I be an affront to celebrity pop culture, therefore I can't trash Chris Pine. Therefore Scott Bakula is the Devil!

Probably not worth the hassle of any blowback. If you want to spread the trailer, try groups about radio, paranormal, aliens, etc. sites like dailygrail.com and mysteriousuniverse.com, godlike productions, above top secret, etc.

Sci-fi, you are right.  I have grown increasingly tired of the fight between right and left.  I listen to a lot of right-wing talk radio because the people I listen to generally have a libertarian view of govt.  Live and let live but don't try to shove your agenda and views down my throat.  I used to love Rush when I was young but I don't actively listen to him much anymore.  Too much talk about the Democrats, Clintons and Obama.  To his credit, he takes some swings at Republicans too but just not as much.  The man is simply not funny anymore at least to me and his schtick has gotten old.  As far as Hannity goes, if you listen to one show, you've heard all he has to say. I've talked about the others that I listen to already. I don't agree with all of their views.  I make up my own mind.

I'm going to make a statement that will get on some people nerves but I need to say it.  People need to toughen up and stop being lily-livered pussies (with apologies to all of the ladies but I need to be blunt) who get offended at every little thing they don't agree with.  If the shit hits the fan and I believe it will very soon, a person will need to be strong and tough in order to survive.  The thugs down the road will make mincemeat out of you otherwise.  So please stop with this "we need to be sensitive" crap.  It really doesn't do any good.  People resent this and if they are bigots, they will continue to be bigots.  People who know better usually try to act respectfully.

At least get a sense of humor and stop being so sensitive to every off-color joke.

Rush is one of the most talented and entertaining radio hosts ever. I used to listen to him in high school even though I disagreed with his views majority of the time.

I think it's the same ol' same ol'. If you create division, you succeed. Whether that be Joseph McCarthy hunting the commies, the ideological controllers of the hippies ditching morality for free sex or Hitler screaming that "That guy!" is the enemy, the result is the same. It's all part of the same thing; the manipulation of the human herd instinct. Our modern version of those pointless political battles are the conservatives and the liberals. Both of them seek to shut down independent free thought and move things to group think and at this point it's gone on so long that it's destroyed America. We really fucked up when we started hitting the R and the D compulsively in the ballot box.

But, humans are great things. We can see past it all if we think outside the box -- something that's going to become increasingly important in the coming years if people wish to survive. And that's what we're all in this forum for, right? Art's famous for thinking outside the box.

Absolutely. 100% agreement. There is reality and there is fantasy. And too many base their views on the fantasy handed to them by the media and pop culture. That fantasy is ending. We are in for hell century in the same way that people that were complaining whether it was proper to show an ankle in a movie in the early 20th century had Hitler in their future. We engage in diversions, not reality.

I listened to a couple of his shows last week and they were really lacking.  I remember back in the late 80's before he broke out onto nation-wide success, he was the funniest thing on the radio.  I was living in New Jersey at the time.  Plus I agreed with him on almost everything.  I turned my Dad onto him and he became a Ditto-head.  Now I think he is just stale and his show really needs a shake-up.  He should be spending more time attacking Republicans and trying to actively change the Party.  Put his money where his mouth is.  Lord knows he has enough of it. I'm pretty much done with the Republican Party and the final nail on the coffin will be Jeb Bush.

Ok, I'm getting too political and this is the Art Bell thread so that is all I have to say.

There is nothing more tiring than people who are perpetually looking to be offended by something so they can speak up about it and show what a good open minded person they are in the hopes of gaining some ethereal brownie points. Notice it always comes with some form of demand about what others can and can't say and a personal accusation that you're a bigot, some kind of -ism, because you refuse to submit to their emotional manipulation.

You being offended means absolutely nothing to anyone but yourself. Toughen up, buttercup fag.

Just for fun...  I call them gayzebos   .... And I hate it that the word gay has lost its original meanings.
And I hate it that a lot of gays have to make such a spectacle of themselves.
If I was gay, hope I'd have the common sense to understand that it's a dangerous world and wouldn't put myself in harms way.

Yes, let's all walk around in fear and let bullies dictate where we go and what we do, the very thing people from your side of the issue keep complaining about, right?

Count me as one who WOULD stick up for people.  I've been assaulted by street gangs 3 times already (try fighting 13 18 year olds at once), because I stood up for what is right.  I'm not afraid to die for worthy causes and innocents.

Yes, words are words, but the reality is that often they are used right alongside violence and threats, and expecting a 14 year old kid to accept that sticks and stones and such is irrational.  Kids commit suicide over bullying, and it's not because they are limp wristed wimps, it's because their brains are under control from their amygdla and not their still developing frontal lobe.  It's the same thing as calling a person with learning disabilities a retard, it goes right for the jugular implying that the person doesn't belong and should be ashamed of something in how God made them.

Once again, my own poor son was depressed and ashamed and deathly afraid until I had a talk with him and reached deep inside and for the first time he overcame the stigma and realized that his dad wouldn't call him names.  He's very brave in my book.  It's about shaming, calling people queers or faggots shames those that ARE gay.

And there's a lot of bullying that does go on in this site as it is.  There are fellow liberals and gay people on this site that remain silent rather than get abused.  But me, I can take the abuse and will stick up for them, just like I did when I was a kid, and it doesn't matter that I'm swimming against the current, because every inch further I get, the better for those that cannot swim.

And while we are at it, the term "butt hurt", you know where that comes from, right?  It's more gay hate drivel.

It's clear that the majority here are to the right of issues and that they will continue to rub it in with the least provocation until they've bullied people into silence, but remember this:  I used to BE a conservative right wing myself (from about the age of 20 until the age of 48) and I experienced an epiphany where I made a paradigm shift.

Now I know I'm a lousy lawyer, I'm not good with word games, I'm more of a direct person.  I call them as I see them and have no blinding him with science bullcrap.  There's a lot of smartasses here that feel pretty good about their ability to make pithy statements, but there's more to a man than word play and most of it is nonsense.

Just once I wish God would give me the ability to make some people have to walk in other people's shoes so they will see how it is.  Funny how, when suddenly the antagonist is forced to carry the same burden they yell out "UNCLE!"

If you guys insist on rubbing the wounded, I will insist on countering you.  Some of you are parents, just wait until YOUR kid is the one affected.

Shut up, you big dope!!!  LOL!

Levin does take some getting used to, no doubt.  I lived in the NE so I'm sort of acclimated to that sort of voice.  My wife goes crazy when she comes home and I'm listening to him on the radio.  I  like it when he starts talking about the Constitution and the history of the US.  His observations on Locke and Montesquieu are enlightening.  LOL.

I can only take Hannity in very small doses.  5 minutes every 3 months is all I can take.  I like listening to Savage sometimes but I find Michael Medved's show more interesting as hs show doesn't stick to 1 topic.  I love American History and he has a lot of guests that write good books.

I'm having to do a lot of catch-up on this thread.  All I'm going to say is some people need to grow a thicker skin.

Thicker than my skin already is?  Dude, I had enough thickness of skin to dare and come along with an opposing viewpoint, knowing full well I'd get dumped on and hive attacked.  Try telling a 14 year young kid to grow a thick skin, they can't, they don't have full frontal lobes, which is required for that task.

Stop it with your stereotyping.  I had a brother who liked she-males.  My parents and I loved him and accepted him with his proclivities though we didn't like to to hear his fantasies and experiences or see his she-male porn.  He's dead now because of AIDS and his refusal to take the proper drugs because he was schizophrenic.  My family is all dead save for my wife. You want to talk pain!  I can talk it and it had nothing to do with liberalism or conservatism.  You think you have all of the answers but you don't. The punk down the street doesn't care if you are Republican or Democrat.  If you are an easy mark, you'll get the shit kicked out of you.

Forgive me for repeating myself but you think you are so enlightened when you aren't.  All I hear from you is a lot of emoting and prejudice.  Stop flaming out and conduct yourself like a man.  For heaven's sake, show a little tolerance and develop a sense of humor.  You come across as a miserable and petty fool.

I find it funny how the majority of people who are arguing that words are just words and they should use them however and whenever they want then respond angrily when you use your words to say what you want.

Not sure if I made total sense with the above run on sentence but I think the point I'm trying to make is clear.

Because, my use of the term fag is not the reason someone commits suicide. And since, I am most likely the only one on this forum that regularly deals with suicide, I do get a bit put off.

Do I think your use of that term is a contributing factor to that? Is that what your stating or is that in relation to what laserjock has said.

But take a step back and look at the irony of "And since, I am most likely the only one on this forum that regularly deals with suicide, I do get a bit put off."
I consider you a logical man. You realize what you just stated is exactly the same reason why Laserjock is saying any of what he is saying? Because he relates to the issue on a personal level.

If anything, I hope all of us can take a second, take a deep breath, and calm down. Don't want kumbaya to be sung or something (this is bellgab after all), but maybe we could all concede these are personal beliefs that no matter how much discussion we have on it minds most likely won't be changed. Then maybe we can make a concerted effort to move the conversation back to Art.

People can get upset when moral absolutist busybodies try to limit their freedom of speech because it makes them personally uncomfortable. Who could have guessed?
