*sigh*
Secret PM's.  Short lived messages.  It's all a joke.  It was a poke at driving the davebots (FTDB) a little crazy as you know they post and lurk here.  DON'T YOU!
And if you can't play the game, then son, you need a check up fm the neck up.  Dave and his screw were probably shitting themselves trying to get 'in' on the inside.

For the record, some people don't live life on the constant snide. Its not a character defect to believe something someone says. I understand the whole davebot thing. Its childish. Dont really care if AB started it or not. Its a double edged sword.

what you need to understand is that each "secret message" or "clue" or whatever has been a joke, almost every single time.  during one of these instances, i instructed users to send me a private message so they could be informed of the "secret plan" laid out in code by art.  well, anyone who bothered to send me a private message quickly noticed my account is not capable of receiving private messages, so the joke was assumed to be established in that way.  there were other angles to the whole gag, but you get the point....

...but, all of that aside, i just want to summarize with this:  every "secret" message referred to by art or anyone else has just been a gag (as far as i can recall).  nobody has been left out of anything.  neither i nor anyone else knows anything that the rest of you don't know.
Aw man! Nao we won't know who belongs on the "special" list.
It ain't much of a joke if you gotta explain it.
MV, ur such a cockblock.  :P

Thanks, MV. If that is the case, then my apologies for not getting the joke and my subsequent rant. I, too, am waiting with batemans breath for a final GO on the new show, so I may overreact a bit if I feel like I am missing some information that might mean some concrete, good news for the future of late-night talk radio.   :-[

And to add with everyone else - great job on the new server.   :)

Nooooo. Will I be forced to listen to Gabcast as punishment?

I can't imagine the contract troubles are over music right. After all, that should be the partner-company's problem, even if the music industry changes usage rights next year.
So my top picks are:
A non-compete in the contract, or revenue sharing disagreements.

I don't even get to hear the music, since I listen mostly to the MP3s of the show which unfortunately don't include it. I can't listen live, since that would start at 5 or 6am in the morning for me.

Why can GROUND ZERO with Clyde Lewis include bumper music in his downloadable files?

I like that show, it's actually better than C2C, even though the host is obviously talking a lot of garbage, at least it doesn't feel so scripted like Coast does. When I listen to Coast 2 Coast, it feels like somebody is reading from a teleprompter, and the guests mostly suck, because they invite the same old crazies like in the 90's or new incarnations of them.

I just could not resist screwing with you all a bit with the change over!

Here is what I can tell you, Keith and I are going to think about this over this Weekend but it looks like instead of making a deal with anybody else we will do it ourselves. We will be on the Internet and everybody will be able to hear the show on Tune In (free app) Worldwide.

If we decide to move forward I will be ordering the gear by Tuesday. The music is taken care of and the time of the show will be 9PM-12AM PT M-F.

The live show will be free, but because we are doing it ourselves we will be depending on people buying membership for 5 bucks a Month which gives you the Podcast and Wormhole and so forth. If they don't we won't get very far because we pay music, Bandwidth, Producer Etc.

We could have signed with a Partner BUT they wanted to put us in a pay wall with other stuff and the price would have been at least double with all kinds of restrictions so we think we will put up the money ourselves and roll the dice. It's a gamble but so is life.

art... you're going to make a lot of money.

laserjock

It's a gamble, but I don't see you failing Art.

I'm confused.  I thought the bumper music was an insurmountable barrier to doing this independently.  Well, good on you Art.  If you have it worked out then that's probably the best position for you to be in.

Nao ur screwing with us!?
Amiright?

Art Bell

Well we will start as a "Small Webcaster" which we can afford and hope they do not increase the price to much at the end of the Year. Like I said we are rolling the dice on this. We still do not want to promote yet, timing is everything! But when the time does come I will need everybody's help to get the word out.

Same here. I thought the reason for all of this was because doing it all independently with music would be too huge a barrier. If the music is now taken care of, might as well try the indie route. People will pay if the incentive is there.

Do what you have to do, Art. Not sure if that last blurb is good news yet. But it seems like it.

I like the gabcast, though one of the hosts has a hissing laugh that is annoying.

I haven't even noticed that, but someone seems to be rattling something every few minutes

I think Redacted has one of the best if not the best female voices in radio.  She should be doing voices for characters in animated movies or something similar

and

(2) where do I sign up ... I'll gladly give my $5 per month to hear your show once again!

my guess is - the "big player" will get back to you with a better offer, especially when he feels you're ready to go ahead without him.
That's how a Bazaar works.
Are you going to reveal who the "big player" was, once you start the show in July/August? (assuming you go without him)

That is a great idea - by the end of the year when (if?) the 'Small Webcaster' exception goes away you'll have a good idea how things are going.

I don't know what the music costs, but the other expenses can't be much.  100,000 subscribers at $5/month is $500k/month...
