Pandora? Gosh one never knows. I wonder how Dave gets his inside info? I wonder if that was a guess or as Falkie seemed to say a statement of fact from someone who knows it all?
Time will tell.

Art

I really think that ole Dave's fishin' for info. He's hoping that by throwing out Pandora, Falkie, or anyone for that matter, would correct him by telling him the real partner.

Dave was actually referring to the mythical Pandora's "Box".  As in, stuffing you back into...

Yep

For someone always bragging about "all time ratings" and having a gazillion subscribers to the insider gig, Dave seems awfully obsessed with competition.

You'd think if he was so secure in his reign over Coast he wouldn't care.

Can you imagine C2C meetings discussing the impending doom and how they're going to cope? If their 2013 performance was any indication (as it appears to be) of their strategy, Dave will pack in a bunch of his health/vitamin shows before D-day, then put feelers out to guests he thinks Midnight will be booking for the battle (in his mind, anyway.)  But mostly he'll wait to see who's on Midnight show, then he'll start trying to grab the same guests as an annoyance tactic. That will last for a while as his numbers dwindle and he embarrasses himself as the ace interviewer on Coast. The long term strategy--lock in that salary (done), and collect a paycheck (done). Not much else to do, is there?

Scorch

It's so painful to listen to Dave.  There's been people on the show that I was interested in and Dave just ruins it by talking.  what he says and how he says it seems at best rhetorical.  He's had 10 years, isn't it time for Dave to retire yet, please?

Things will drag on at CTC as they have for the past decade.  The long, slow decline will continue, with occasionally bouts of insanity caused by the need to do sumpin every once in awhile.  The wreck will be visible to all, until the corporate mindset finally changes and they decide to junk this disastor.  Which could be soon, but my guess is it could be years.

Looked up Pandora--not sure it fits what Art has been describing...supposedly it is only in the USA, Australia and New Zealand.  If I get Art right--he was saying what he would be using would be available worldwide and not just 3 countries.  Which wouldn't fit Pandora.

Spotify is actually bigger than Pandora worldwide.   Or heck, I'd bet Art is going to do a deal with Microsoft, Apple or Google.  Just think, Art on itunes would be big.  Or how about Art promoting Google's space age projects.  Such as their autonomous cars and Google Fiber.  Now that would be totally cool.

Coast is not doomed and I do not wish it to be. There is room for us both. Dave has his listener base and I will find mine which for the most part scattered back into other aspects of life. We do very different types of shows.

The one thing I will react to is if they ever tell Guests that being on my show will not let them be on Coast, that will bring a very quick reaction.

Otherwise I say, live and let live.

Maybe, maybe not, I will agree that it is probably induction of a sort and you may be right. However its still an energy source that could be harnessed.

You say its low current, but have you ever checked it out?

If there is a current at all then is there a way, a design or other way (other than electronic) to increase the current?

If it is only the build up of electrons along a length of a wire there are still ways to make use of it.

Having built a solar system and wind system I believe there are other energy sources that we have not explored. Just to dismiss is so quickly seems a little like a missed opportunity.

It's a giant capacitor until it's discharged to ground. Once discharged, it builds up again. How much is there is variable. People at the university of Illinois studied this a long , long time ago. There used to be a tower erected with a wire in the center of it, insulated at both ends. It stood in front of the mechanical engineering building until the mid 80's. Nothing ever came of it because it's not a stable source of energy, no good way to store it. Perhaps you could charge batteries or something like that, but I guess it wouldn't be too efficient. The main reason I posted in the first place was just to point out it's just basic physics 101 phenomena.

You would think grown adults could keep their noses out of other people's business.  We won't tell them about that huge RealPlayer deal, though.  Pinky swear.

I actually like that--stay above the hate and do your own thing.  We have our Dave hater section here for those who dig that BUT yes Art, you should stay and be above that and focus on getting your show flowing.

I think this is one thing most people on bellgab will disagree with you on.  I would much rather have Dave off the radio dial, whether you are competing with him or not.      The best thing for Coast To Coast would be for Dave to be booted and Knapp to be put in his place (aside from you taking it back of course).

I don't actually believe Coast is doomed but I do think in their minds they see your new show as a real threat (as witnessed by the trolling.)   Their problem is what drove me to this forum. I tried to listen when Dave took the reigns and for over a decade he has rehashed everything you did, with his own style, of course. That style is chronicled daily on the GNS bellgab section.  To his credit, Dave has attempted a new direction, introducing more health and wellness shows, though I am not interested in those. Otherwise, he and his staff have shown little, if any, innovation and appear to walk in a shadow of your former program and your persona. In that way it is a different show, indeed.

I hope your deal goes through and as you say, there is room for both programs. Thanks for the efforts you're putting into this.

If you dislike Dave that much just don't tune in.  Tune in to someone else like Art.  Wishing ill will on someone else is simply bad Karma.

I think the point Art is trying to make, (Art please correct me if I am wrong) is he does not want this to be an "us vs. them" affair.  The success of Art's new show is going to come down to how well he does, not how bad Dave does.  As supporters of Art we should be directing our energy towards simply propping up "Midnight in the Desert."  Not throwing stones directed at Dave's camp which turns this into the tiring "us vs. them"

Art Bell

I don't think I am so much of a threat because Dave has taken the show in such a way that is no longer much like I did. For people with long memories you might remember I did a lot of open lines, i did more technical type shows. I did not do Health or many conspiracy type shows. A lot of my people simply left, they will find me in time. Perhaps some who have been frustrated but hung on will switch but there are some I hope stay where they are.

I'm sure many of us here can think of a lot of Dave's callers that we hope stay with Dave.  I'm sure you'll get a call from Bill the AAA from CT.  He called you before, he will be back.

Hi,
Is this the Art Bell love fest thread?  I'm in! Art I just discovered you two years ago on one of those streams on tunein.com.  I liked to listen to old time radio and was looking for another old time radio stream when I came across a picture of what I guess was a picture of rolling stone that gathered no moss and I was intrigued.  It was entitled 'Fine Art', I thought it had something to do with paintings so I thought I would give it five minutes of my time before I moved on.  It wasn't about paintings it was you, and I was then and there sucked in and a huge fan.  I listened to that stream constantly all summer and up until this day.  My roommate also became a fan of you since I started playing the stream constantly.  Anyway, since then you have been the soundtrack for my life.

Art, I have to ask. Did you send Terrible Teddy your toe nails?  ;D

Also I do have to say when I was a teenager in the 90's I had heard your name thrown around by my friends, they seemed to really like you but I had other things to do during those hours you were on.

Art Bell

I don't think its a love fest, I just think the people who are on this board are a smart bunch and we share some values. It also helps if you have a somewhat twisted sense of humor and I do, always have. If you have done any amount of reading here you know most are a bit twisted.

I am not fully love worthy myself, I do not try to project a personality that makes you want to hug me at all, I have little patience with foolishness and as a result many of Dave's people think I am mean. I guess if compared, I am. Simply put, we have a lot in common here.

I'm not so sure.  I never bought Dave's "nice guy, philanthropist" image.

That persona seemed to melt away rapidly when you announced coming back on XM.

Charging batteries is along the lines that I was thinking, you would have to even out the energy. Curious if different conditions changed the volt/amp. I still think that we are missing something here, maybe something along the lines of what Tesla worked with.

Or is it ok because if limbaugh's Intollerance?

I would have to say it IS a love fest.  People (including me) are so happy you are here that you can't deny they are a bit more open and responsive to all your posts.  Must be weird to be famous, hehe.

Also I dig your sense of humor, one example would be when you interviewed John Rhodes on 6/18/95 he thought we were from reptilians and he mentioned something about forked tongues right before you went to commercial.  It was pretty funny.  You couldn't even keep from laughing while you went to commercial.

Heather

I am listening to the show right now, I'll have a better description of it when I come across that part.
