Has anybody suggested KNYE as a home to broadcast from yet?  I was pondering the problems Art is having while on my way to work today and it hit me when the station broadcast its call letters... Perhaps Art could use KNYE.

If not KNYE, has anybody thought of buying a station or having another one broadcast his show live?  I would PM Art directly, but MV has threatened to hunt me down if I cannot learn how to use the PM feature without sending a copy to him...

I recall reading someone around hear making the claim that they had contacted owner of KNYE and she said she'd love to work with Art.

I suggest to stop the debate about where Art is going to be broadcasting/streaming. It's pointless. If Art needs ideas he can surely say so. Obviously it's what is on everybody's mind, and everybody is sitting on hot coals waiting for news.
Better do something progressive, like suggesting guests that weren't on any shows yet, who you would like to hear on his next shows, or debate about the best old guests in the thread below this one.
Can be debate good new guests, or are we too afraid of Davebots? I guess if we are, we can't really debate about anything here.
Hmmm.  I'm suggesting that ART call upon some of his wide flung support base.  Surely there are some of us that are worthy of a visit on air, no matter how brief.  Like Chaim, for instance.  What do you do, what are you an expert on, what are you passionate about?  Don't answer here Chaim, I'm just using you as an example because you posted the above.
In other words, perhaps once ART is 'casting and streaming, we can 'apply' via email or even here in a seperate thread.  Some of us have got to have interesting lives or even have a life beyond moms basement apt and her meatloaf.

Art,

If the music licensing thingy doesn't work out, start small and let it grow. Build it and they will come and they will come in a hurry. As someone else mentioned, Dreamland had one frigging song and look how well the program did.

Be cool Art.

What about KNYE?

I don't think anyone has suggested this. Quick, email Art.

If you are going to use my idea I would appreciate it if you would at least attribute it to me in the future.  As the originator of the idea, I am claiming it as my intellectual property.  As this is your forum, I am willing to waive the licencing fee, but still demand that you acknowledge it as belonging to me.  Thanks.

***Edit: See?  Already two people believe it to be your idea when clearly it was mine.***

Art just posted this on Facebook. What does it mean!!!??????!111

Why hasn't anybody suggested going cap in hand to George, apologizing and asking for his old job back?

Too soon? Yep. I'll just grab my coat and I'll be off.

That was me. Chaim is 100% wrong. Karen has been arts friend for decades. She loves art and they still talk. She was his station manager when he owned KNYE. Karen has said that Art is welcome to do anything he wants on the channel but she think he wants to stay retired for radio and that Art seems to be happy where he is in life.

How old is the comment? You've repeated it a few times in this thread but I'm curious whether this is a recent statement or something said a few years ago. If it is recent I would suggest to her that she start following Art on Facebook. Obviously he's not updating his MySpace or AOL online accounts anymore.

I believe he forgot his password and is no longer able to retrieve it as his hotmail account has since been deactivated.

is KNYE full FM now or can they broadcast AM as well?
I guess FM just sucks for a talk show like Art Bell.
It also doesn't have the charm, AM is perfect because of the amazing distance you can receive it.
I can't imagine that it is really a problem to keep track of the music Art plays,
maybe the current owner doesn't want Art back because they want to broadcast polka music all evening, or something.
I'm not sure that Frequency Modulation sucks for talk radio.  There is a butt load of FreqMod talk in the LA/OC area.  It's the talk programs that suck ass.
However ART puts his program together, it will be worth the wait.
It wasnt a problem keeping track of music when I was with college radio (KSAK forever, motards!).  We wrote it down on a legal pad and the interns (me) would transcribe it onto a form, I'm not even sure it was an FCC form....
As to ARTs relationship with KNYE?  Quien Sabes?  That is btwn ART and KNYE.  It may be as simple as ART doesn't want to got that route or there may be some complexity that is Not Our Business.  *shrug*
I'm just waiting for ART to gear up and hit July hard.  My first show fantasy goes something like this, "Hello world, back by popular demand and because I just damn well wanna do it....I'm ART BELL.  Who wants to go for a ride?" Then comes the first bumper music, I'm going with ABBA, 'Knowing me, Knowing you' (because it's my first show fantasy, that's why, now shaddup).  Then ART comes back with, "To my Los Magnificos, my vaguely lovable BellGabbers...Let's Ride!"  Music swells.....KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU.....

NOT "free worldwide stream".  FM stations that also stream pay Sound Exchange to do so.  They are also required to maintain and submit complex records of each song, how many times played, etc...
I think Art and others have mentioned this here.

And for those harping on KNYE..Art no longer owns the station, can't simply commandeer it to do his show.  Not to mention he has said repeatedly he's done with terrestrial radio.  One hope for terrestrial radio--if Art would even consider it--would be a small non-profit community station that also streams, (and still pays all the usual royalty fees though at a reduced rate compared to the big commercial stations).  One more thing, bandwidth ain't cheap.  It's not too costly for small shows with few simultaneous listeners, which we know will not be the case with Art Bell.

Whatever arrangement he's pursuing, I think it's wise to keep it to himself and not post his business here.
Well said, Lt.  OPSEC is primary.

Chaim

I have a plan!
MV will create a fake corporation pretending to be a big player in the industry. Then contact Art Bell and tell him he can play any music he wants without paying any royalties. Make him sign a contract that shackles him to a lifetime of making radio shows with no way out. Art will stream his show directly to your shoutcast server. You can sell the shows in HQ to subscribers, and put it on youtube (with the music cut out). Art doesn't need to know what's really going on, and you can even pay him.

Maybe there is a local radio station near Art that could host him. Someone might want to look into it.

Sure Keith feel to jump right into this brainstorming session.  ;D

I'm just curious if you know whether or not Art has reached out to Alan yet about broadcasting through one of CBC's stations only this time it would be on the net?

Damn, I love this thread. Vaguely.

Heeeeeey.... Art once visited this radio station and I think it's the sole solution to our problem!

If I'm not mistaken I think that Art mentioned that the paper work would only become worse at KNYE. They have to account for each and every song that they play. I wonder if that's why a lot of stations are now automated or they have playlist?

SnapT

While we're exploring every possible solution (KNYE), here's another outside-the-box idea: has Art considered signing a NEW contract with Sirius XM?

They may have had their problems, but bumper music wasn't one of them...

Jaz, shouldn't you be picking up Art's tab for music? Don't you owe him for bringing down DM on Sirius?
