This whole music thing is a nightmare, as posted earlier Pandora bought a radio station and tried to operate under the blanket license for the station and the whole thing ended in Court and not well. We continue to explore options. I understand people who say just don't use music or use the "emerging Artists" but I will not go that way. The music that I developed over the Years was as big a part of the show as the material covered, both for me and I think those of you on the other side of the radio. We are fighting the good fight and I hope we find a way.

Keep calm & trust in Art!

I can not answer all the questions you all have but I will say this, the "Big Player" is still in play, can not say more then that now. Besides that we are talking to the music people ourselves. So everything is still on track
for the moment. It seems unfair to us that the small amount of music played as bumpers is treated just
like a Pandora. The World is not a fair place and we are doing our best to work it out. Trust me when I tell
you this is the last thing we expected to run into. We had no idea that Radio and the Internet were treated
in totally different ways. When I know anything I will let you all know.

Mr. Art Bell earlier in his life was one of the pioneers of the Wild Western resurgence of AM, now turns his steely glare upone the desolate wastes of the intar-tube broadcast game.

There is a new Sherriff in town, watch your p's & q's people.

edit:  Art would you please deputize me, it could even be a Barney Fife deputation, I'd be so proud.  I'll keep the bullets in my shirt pocket I swear!  Pleese?

That is good news.  Thank you for keeping us updated, Art.  Lord knows you don't have to, but you do, and that's all kinds of kick ass.
Wish there was some way I could help, but will be here when you say, "Green light on The Blitz".

Mr. Bell -
Send me a private message so I can help you out with your music licensing/royalty headache. I can't help with your "on demand" pay service but I can get you set up with what you need for your live broadcasts.

Did you not get the memo? It has now been rebranded to "Ze Blitz". We're trying to keep one step ahead of the Davebots.

Sure the music thing is a nightmare, if trying to figure out a way to get around it.
Reality check... likely not going to happen.
In business there are expenses, figure out a way to pay them and make a profit.

All I know, is what you have shared with us.

Free streaming
No terrestrial radio
Play your same bumper music
Paid subscription for stereo broadcast
Really want to broadcast again, but on your terms

I'll assume you want to run a lean and mean operation with few employees.
That you want to stream on the Internet, because of it's simplicity.

So something got to give, assuming there is no way around the high fees for music.

Nix the music or figure a way to pay the 'high' music fees.

You stated you won't broadcast without the music.

So need to figure out a way to pay the high music fees, and hopefully put money in pockets of staff, expenses and make a profit.
.... or call it quits.

In business world, don't worry about higher taxes, price increase by suppliers etc...  raise prices and the consumer pay for the increase costs, so profit margins stay the same.

Subscribers pay fees to cover music fee and expenses.
MR ART BELL, INC.  project number of paid Internet subscriber and amount they will pay?
limit free listeners to trail period

I sure you know all of this already, mostly it's for Bellgabbers, so they get off the stick they are stuck on, for their ideal Art Bell business plan.
Lot's of way to skin 'shave' the cat.

Darn I forgot, I was going to keep calm and trust Art...

Thanks for the update. I suggest a Nevada-style "range war" against the FCC, the music recording honchos, and bad late-night radio etc ala the one few decades ago against the Feds (or the more recent ones!) And going Shortwave, off-shore or MEX radio, local FM pirate radio, locally owned AM, new FM channels, internet streaming (again from other countries hosting if necessary and for redundancy), podcasting, an ART BELL app for smart phones, a CCrane "Art Bell" special small radio for WiFi, LTE, AM/FM/SW with presets, etc. An all out BLITZ to bring talk radio back from oblivion and save the radio as a form of media whilst using the more modern techniques.
In other words,  thanks for the update and make all options on the table. We are waiting and will help.

:o Actually I was thinking of the great scene in the movie BEER (1985) where Loretta Swit talks about an advertising "blitz" and retains the marketing gig for the beer company (that was founded by Germans.) Alas, cannot find a youtube of the scene but it was hilarious.

In my twisted mind he Jorched messed up spelling lattice, but really meant matrix.  Some sort of mathematical algorythm stuff, I think boba's a COMMO guy, they get estoteric sometimes with their skip intarvals and bands...

Art Bell

White Crow,

No doubt one of the things you outlined will happen, that was deep.

Art

Chaim

how about you license only 20 songs or so?
should be enough, and you can always buy more or use licensing free music for more variety.

Sigh...

Can't imagine how frustrating this must be.

I know it's unrealistic, but I wish there was something I could do to help.

My thoughts exactly, sir.  I owe you several beers I believe...  Just tell the bartender to "Put 'em on Pate's tab, he'll never notice" & I expect I won't.

Who da man?  You da man!

Not trying to pick on your Bumper Music itch, Mr. Bell, but have you ever heard this one:

I do enjoy that tune, and hope you do too!

Art, will you go on Hulu's LARRY KING NOW to promote the new show?  Your 1990s interview with Larry King was a hoot.

Also will you please go on THE TODAY SHOW again and scream "Matt Lauer can suck it!"?

Was the movie LAND OF THE LOST also loosely based on THE COMING GLOBAL SUPERSTORM?

Thanks Art... For some strange reason... you got hold of me like the Beatles did, hoping they'd get back together.
Never got caught up in the Fan thingie again, to you came along. So many great memories of your broadcasts with family and friends.
