Ah, yes.  A frame from the Zapruder Burbank parade incident, with two fill-in celebrity wannabees.  Abraham sure gets around for being a dead guy.  A whole lot more than Tommy.

The third producer on the grassy knoll.
Also the first and second producer because there wouldn't be enough room.

Does the ad above mean that all the untalented musicians wind up as Noory's submerged artistes ?

Art,

So you've done this non-compete dance before I see. I bet you were looking forward to spending your quiet retirement years setting on the beach or on the back porch with a beer in your hand telling Asia not to go too far out into the water or too far out into the desert. But then comes all of these people who call themselves friends, followers or fans, screaming, yelling, and begging you not to retire and to get back to work. I bet that one really caused you to reassess your life. Not many get to ask themselves if making a living is work or if it's something you can call fun. Okay, now aside from not having the music you want - what could possible make you decide to go back into retirement?

I started reading some of the posts at the start of this thread- and guess what - deja vu - in 2010... ;D

Art Bell may be returning to radio soon, non-compete contract over with former syndicator

From a Facebook post last night , Art Bell announced his non-compete clause with Premiere Radio Networks, who syndicates Coast to Coast AM, is over.

He told Facebook friends and followers to STAY TUNED.

"Stay Tuned"

Art,

If you are going to die during your show then I think that those words are a befitting phrase for your headstone or above the entrance on your tomb.

You're not going to be cremated - are you?

Hopefully Art's consciousness will be downloaded before his first body ever gives out. Ride into the eternity and beyond! ArtBot is best bot <3

Obviously Art is coming back MAINLY because he loves broadcasting...not for or against anyone else.  Which is why he is great at what he does--the love of it shows through.

Every time I hear Art's coming back and then he's not coming back, I think of this song & think it should be a song on his new show & Durante sang it before Dan Ackroyd.

Falkie--what part of the Pittsburgh area are you from?  I was born and raised for first 22 years of my life there...mostly Monroeville.  I can definitely hear the Pittsburgh in your videos!

Long live the Steelers and the memory of Myron Cope,

Da man is from da 'burgh !

Born in Magee hospital, lived in Oakland on Joe Hammer Square and Parkview Avenue next to the bridge going towards Schenley Park. Saw my first 'BUCS game at 3, was IN the press box at 8 when Maz hit the home run ( even then I talked my way into stuff ), spent lots of time at Forbes Field & Isaly's Hq ( ah for rainbow sherbet and some chipped ham) & at  Kennywood ( when I take over the US I bring back Isaly's that the Brits destroyed ), used to practically live at Kaufmann's and Gimbels ( no damn Macy's ). Dad born on South Side, still relatives there. Sister, nephew, niece still in area.
Thanks for asking. Was amused that last weekend Fort Pitt tunnel closed for cleaning, it's always being repaired.😀

I hate to say it but I get why Art may not want to get back into the pool with the sharks.

You reach a point in life where fighting, defending yourself and stewing over everything that the haters like Jimmy, Norrey and others say on their programs all in the guise of not throwing trash is not worth it.

You reach point where you want to have fun and enjoy life.

Art take some advice, no one can explore subjects like you, don't try to make a number one show, don't try to take on the other hosts, don't listen to idiots. Make a show that you enjoy and do it just for you, (and us) any other reason will be too exhausting and will make something that you love a burden. I know its hard to ignore the simple minded morons but you made your bones in life, you have nothing to prove, so don't try. They can't touch you, they can only pick at your scraps and thats the way most of us feel.

Do it because you love it.

Ah, the Pittsburgh memories...also loved Kennywood--remember the Jack Rabbit and the Thunderbolt.  My sports memories--the city of champions in '79 and the long Steeler run--my family had season tickets for the Steelers in 70's and some of the 80's.  I was there for the Immaculate Reception.  Good years for sports.   At a Dapper Dan banquet as a kid my favorite Pirate Willie Stargell once introduced me to Hank Aaron.

Also miss hearing the word--younze!

I found this on a thread below, it is a comment from a radio guy working for a big AM station, I am not sure where:
As far as Art Bell, his words: "He's alienated his audience. If he podcasts, it will be mildly successful". His core audience is the age that may not want to deal with podcasts. The subject matter is so overcooked that there is nothing left to eat. And he's proven to be an unreliable media personality. Plus he's no a young man playing in a young man's world. He will get a bump out of the gate on popularity and then it will slide south as the newness wears off. Once it becomes evident that he doesn't get even 5000 subscribers, he will shut it down. If Art was serious about making a go of it, he would do terrestrial radio + podcast it like his main competition. Otherwise it's a hobby.

He makes some pretty good points, some not so good, my core audiance is really 8-80 Years old, so about that he is wrong. The subject matter is over cooked but the product has been slaughtered by most Chefs. He has a bias for commercial radio because that's who signs his paycheck but I have a flash for him AM radio is dying, the shares are now tiny and shrinking fast and I am sorry for that because I love Radio but the writing is on the wall. As far as how my listeners feel about me, well I've pissed off lots of people in my time, if you live long enough, so will you.

I am not a young man anymore, 70 in June but many of the best Paranormal Broadcasters in the World have been older. Lastly, if it becomes a Hobby then it will be a very good one.

Art--I'd tell him to "F" off...some great broadcasters went way beyond 70, the late Paul Harvey certainly did for one.  And I totally agree that almost all those doing paranormal radio just plain suck!  You can make the subject sing.  And AM radio--yep that's a dinosaur.

sydtron

Screw him! You will take back the night!  Listening to your last Ghost to ghost right now. Lady called in that had morse code comming from her microwave! She was going to send you her recording of it to de code.
Did u ever get the tapes? And what did they say?

So true, Art.  This is why so many long for your return.  I don't know what is better, seeing the fire you've got, or knowing that you will be gracing the air once again.

Cannot please everyone; if it makes you feel any better, I've pissed off a couple of people just this weekend!  I hope your bumper music negotiations are going well.  Great to hear from you, as always.  Don't let that fire go out.

I'd like to add that podcasting may be a young man's game, but you have the support of many who can help if you have questions along the way.  There is no substitute for the wisdom gained by years of experience discussing the paranormal.

Hey Art!  Hope you are doing well.  It will be great to hear you once again soon.

As for your age.. nobody cares about that except the naysayers.  People of all ages want GOOD CONTENT and will take it where they can get it.  Also John C Dvorak is 62 and does fairly well on his No Agenda podcast.

It might take time to build an audience again but I know you can do it.

Sounds like someone was just venting hot, noisome air.  Why does that goomer care, anyway?  Whatever you do is no skin off his ass, unless he really said that because he's afraid you're going to cut into his audience.  As far as your fans being too old to "deal with" podcasts, I've had my AARP card for a few years and have never had a problem figuring out how to listen to them.

sydtron

If my 3 year old can work my phone. Im sure many people can. I swear they test these things with kids to make sure we all can work them. Moot point.
