art has "parked" his site. i imagine there is no more code there and the passwords have been changed. i imagine it artbell.com will be back when art finds a new webmaster.
I understand..
I wish someone could explain the ARt the easy way he himself could start a blog and just the direct and mask the domain name. Or heck, just install Wordpress on his account and let him type away when he wants..
Art could easily do a website on his own without a web master to worry about.

I hope Art takes his time and uses good professionals who he fully vets before entering into anything with anybody for now on.   And he needs to learn how to keep his cool when the bullets start flying.  It's better to use Kung Fu and make the other guy knock himself over than to wail with fists willy nilly.  Art, please hear what I'm saying!

I disagree.  Art needs pros doing things with him, collaboratively.  Him doing things using crap like wordpress would be a horrible mistake just pleading to derail.  Art is top end and needs top end people working FOR him.  Obviously, Keith was too much friend and not enough Professional.  Art needs to start playing the game like Chess or Risk (I love the game Risk).

How was DMRN being paid for?  How much did it cost, and was Art funding it completely?

streaming audio is very cheap these days. i mean reeeeally cheap.  it's almost not even a concern.

I love the term webmaster. It seems like an all powerful term some neck beard, dungeons and dragons playing nerd thought up to make him seem like he's wielding some kind of power when in actual fact they are just masking the pain of being beat up by the jocks at school who are now their clueless CEOs.

Present company excluded of course.

I doubt cost is an issue. I think it is the will and having someone to do the behind the scenes/legwork on his behalf.

ya seeing how drmn is rocking a cool 32 kbps its roughly 10 dollars a month.....

The mainstream media weighs in on the Art Bell news (while eating ice cream)...

The ice cream gobbling makes this.

I don't care for Baseball or Jimmy Church. All I wants is my Art Bell back and today that seems further away than yesterday.
Still luv The Jazz up here in neverneverland. But I'm kinda drunk so

You said it, pal.  If Anderson Cooper would snack on some iced cream whilst reporting the news, maybe CNN wouldn't be in the ratings toilet.

I really like the KGRA idea and the Youtube idea. Art could try to sell downloads from Libsyn after airtimes too.

Outselling a certain other show on Libsyn might be an ego boost...

Falkie is gonna ruin his camera ready figure eating sugary bowls of ice cream at 1:32 in the morning.

that's what i think inherently stinks though about an "all xyz genre all the time" stream.  i think a variety of different programming is a good thing.  just a matter of preference, but that's my thought.

btw... i spent the last few days building a new gabcast stream server and it's up and running as of about 20 minutes ago.  please tune in and let me know how you think it sounds (assuming you like abba).  link.

Paranormal can be good when it's done well.  But you can't have 30 people doing the same topic well. Better to have people doing a number of different topics well.  That way it's more like a magazine and weird conference.

Art could potentially become one of YouTube's biggest stars.

And that means something these days.  I'm friends with a YouTube star who pulls in about $100,000 a MONTH (a MONTH!) from advertising before his videos.  And all he does is play video games off camera, not even showing his face.

Far from pocket change, Art.  Way more than that Sirius XM contract of yours agreed to pay annually.

Yeah, a varied format might be a good thing, but since KGRA has basically the same format as what was, until today, Art's intended return-to-radio venue, makes sense to assume he'd want something similar.  Might even be some incentive for him to take a KGRA gig and attempt to poach some DMRN talent and/or takedown the network.

I think we're just thankful he didn't make himself sign a non-compete clause.

That's a great point, and one I think KGRA is better at dealing with than DMRN.  DM is, as I understand it, a loose confederation of independent programs that Rowland broadcasts but exercises limited (no?) content control.  As a result, he could get consecutive programs covering the same topic.

KGRA is run more like a traditional radio station with a program director who pays attention to hosts and their topics/ guests.  Different hosts have different niches, and topics can be spread throughout the broadcast schedule to limit redundancy. In my case,  I listen to the UFO shows consistently, will occasionally tune in the ghost and cryptid programs, and totally ignore the conspiracy theory and touchy-feely, consciousness and new age stuff.  If you spread the various subgenres around within the paranormal format, and have good talent, a network devoted entirely to the format can work.

I'm gonna listen to Jimmy tonight for just long enough to hear him try and justify what he's done.  Then, he's history.  It's been into weeks I haven't listen to coast and almost as long with Church.  I'm learning to live without these losers.

I'm starting to think you guys are right, if it's done in a professional way and he protects himself carefully first, youtube might be the answer.  Thing is, Art needs to use his head more, he's a very bright man, but he's playing war games using Roman armour and weapons, he needs to surround himself with well vetted professionals that will protect him and let him be who he is without letting him screw his own self.

wr250

jimmy's show is a repeat tonight

laserjock

Oh smart, he chose Thursday to break this loose, I forgot Friday is a repeat.  Well, off it goes, turning it off now.  Ahhh, there, peace and quiet, no more bloviation.  Mr. Big Shot being shut off.  About bed time anyways.  I got some news today that really sent me in orbit on top of this controversy...

You know, guys, I appreciate Art being pissed off about Snoory "poaching" a DMRN host, but when Art came on XM and had guests, many of those guests are regulars on Coast (though back from his good old days).  Poaching is a relative term.
But he did not have Knapp, Ian, or even JB Wells filling in hosting for him.  There is a huge difference between guest and host.

Does anybody believe that Pemrat would have given Wells the "OK" to host dark matter the occasional night?  Why is it alright for Church to sit in for Noory, but not for Wells to sit in for Art (aside from the obvious answer that Wells sucks...)

Wells claims to have been fired for conflict of interest by starting Caravan to Midnight while also hosting on Coast, so I suppose not.

zeebo

Dammit, why can't we just have some combination of Art, George Knapp, and Bateman?  It's so friggin simple.
