I'm still not sure why it's ok for George Knapp to host weekend shows, but not anyone else.

Or why it was ok for Ian to do so.

Or even Art Bell, up until he decided not to.

This is a bunch of shit

I agree. I don't begrudge Jimmy filling in, guest hosting or full time hosting C2CAM. It's his life to live. If he wants to make more money that is his right. Having said that he can't have his cake and eat it too. If he chooses Coast then he can't really expect to "sit in" for Art too.

George Knapp and Ian aren't on the DMRN so there is no conflict there.

You have a point there:  seems there is no bad blood at all between George Knapp and Art, even though George continues to host some Sunday nights on c2c and has for a long while now.  You'd think if proving loyalty to Art meant that you did NOT work at all for c2c/PremRat, then GK would also be on Art's shit list.  Hmmmmm.....  (Okay, I'm officially confused now).

I'm not defending anyone here but I don't really think it's a mystery.  Those people inherited the new C2C and weren't in conflict with any of Art's projects at the time.  Art basically sold them when he sold C2C.  Church, on the other hand, is making the jump after using Art's Dark Matter Network, which is in direct competition to Coast, to make a name for himself.  Art had to sign non-compete agreements whenever he worked for somebody but apparently he didn't go through that formality with people using the Dark Matter Radio Network, and now it's like a little betrayal when someone jumps to the competition.

I totally agree with this and this is the way it should be.

With that in mind Art's response the other day was over the top. Instead of shutting up shop and going home he should have just booted Jimmy C from his network.

WOTR

I am going to suggest to Art if he returns that he call up George one night, live on air and invite Noory to "guest host" for him one night.  Thank him for the "opportunity" for publicity that he had provided to Church and offer him the same deal just to watch him squirm.  George is smart enough to know his corporate masters will not allow it (he has a non-compete firmly in place.)

Why is it alright for JC to go on Coast when, in the future, it will not be alright for Knapp to fill in as a host for Art?

I understand that DMRN is more of a hosting site for individuals who mostly retain the rights to their shows and we do not want to see it as a restrictive corporation.  I think it was set up to show case "up and coming" talent.  I also think Art would be thrilled if one of his hosts got a full time hosting gig anywhere but Coast.

The thing is that Art Bell is still a brand- and there is still some value of that brand (though, arguably, less and less as the years wear on and more drama unfolds.)  In this world, people try to control their brand (ever look at the olympics and what they do to businesses when they come to town?) and Art is perfectly free to try to protect the value his name still has.  If that means pulling it because a host has decided to stab him in the back and sleep with the devil- it is his decision.

Eastern US:   1-800-825-5033 (toll free)
First time caller:   1-818-501-4721
Wild Card line:   1-818-501-4109 (anyone can call)

Bateman's tips & tricks:

1.  The 818 numbers are the easiest to get through.
2.  Make a relevant point to the screener.
3.  When you get on, make sure you drone on for a little while before you plug Art/DMRN. That way you get past the dump. They CAN still dump after 30 seconds or so, but it'll be super obvious they cut you off.
4.  If you don't want to use your real number, you can download free calling apps (I like Talkatone) that allow you to select any area code you want. If anyone needs help with this, feel free to PM. Make sure you're ready well before airtime.
5.  Bonus points for "GNS" mention.

Obviously, as we all know from old shows, and years later long...long...extended diatribes, postings, and subsequent explanations, apologizes, and recriminations: the Mr.Fidget method is the easiest way to get into C2C. (If that doesn't work reference Cap’n Crunch show.... about phreaking.) Good luck.
-GNS (and I'm suspect of Jimmy due to his love of "hair band" metal instead of good music...including real metal.)

Now we're cooking with gas. How about a Gabcast call in on Tuesday AB?

One more important note. You need to call AS SOON AS THE NUMBERS ARE ANNOUNCED. Cannot stress this enough. Once they have the lines filled, the screener won't even bother with new callers.

Can we broadcast a special news bulletin across DMRN every 20 minutes? Tell everyone to get to the phones!  8)

"We interrupt this DMRN program to inform our loyal listeners that GN still sucks! Where ever you may be please support DMRN by picking up the phone and dialing the wild card line at 1-818-501-4109! Send the fine folks at C2C flailing into the night by letting them know just how much more awesomer we are! Thank you. Your support matters" <3

This may well be the first C2C show I will listen to since the the "Pray for Goatse" era. Looking forward to mayhem :)

As an Art Bell sycophant, I'd like to defend myself. First, let me invoke some guidance with a prayer:\

Hollow be thy fame.  Nye kingdom come\

On Earth as it is in Pahrump.\

Give us this day our daily thread\

And forgive us our trolling,\
as we forgive those who troll against us.\
And lead us not into frustration,\
but deliver us from Noory. Amen."\
