With all due respect, no one on CoastGab has that power.  However, it's a legitimate subject of inquiry (maybe more appropriate to the "things that annoy you" thread) to speculate as to why some people are obsessed with dropping trau at public celebrations and pinching off a deuce in the living room.  Are they more like Fred Phelps, or more like Kim Kardashian?   Rhetorical question.

I think we should all chill out and stop looking for splinters in each others eyes. We're like a bunch of people in a dive bar who have heard news that an old favorite band will be returning. Some will leap for glee and dance around, others will just say "cool if it happens", and keep drinking their beer.


My own thoughts are along the lines expressed by Eddie, Sardondi, and Yorkshire, but that doesn't  mean people can't be expressively happy. Hell, have at it. Just realize that some of us would rather just finish our drinks than celebrate.  If and when Art returns (and its more a solid when now), we'll all once again be talking about it.

Sirius is the lesser of two evils though. I won't bore you with the details, but Cumulus is the worst of the worst terrestrial radio operations. If Art was unhappy with Premiere, he's gonna be miserable with Cumulus.

However Sirius/XM is a pay network, and Art has always said he likes free over the air broadcasting.
Even in the 90's he offered free internet audio recordings of his shows via broadcast.com - unlike when PremRat took over and forces pay subscriptions to access them.

If Art isn't too concerned with big high income contracts or large network coverage, I think it would be best if he stuck with a local station.

Thats how Art started in the early 90s, just the Las Vegas station and expanded from there, building his own network from scratch (the CBC radio network, you can hear mentioned on the old mid 90's shows)
That was the only way he could have total control before the sale to PremRat...

So much has happened in the years since Art left.  I am really excited to hear what he has to say.  I am also excited to see who he has on air.  I am just hoping he leaves Ed No Shame Dames and Richard C Hoaxland to Snoory.

And I think there's a huge difference between telling us "what we should all" do, and expressing puzzlement about the reactions of some.    The folks who keep drinking their beer, shrug their shoulders, express skepticism or disinterest don't actually puzzle me.   It's the joy some folks derive in taking a whizz in other people's beer that does.   Maybe that's a topic better suited for "Things that bring me joy" thread.

Has to be full time, 4-5 nights a week. No way he gets a big contract on anything but. Not to mention, he has very strict requirements for whatever company he works for, in order to fill those, they need him to fill hours. A bit brutal to let go of a night radio show to make way for Art Bell? No way. That's expected.  You can be sure if that happened, anyone who worked for the station saw that coming a mile away.

I so hope you're right.  Our one strong AM station here dropped c2c to put on Red Eye Radio (I think they "had to" for some reason that I don't fully understand), and it had been so great to be able to listen to Art on a strong radio station with no reception issues.  Now, I have to listen to c2c (as yukky as it is) streaming online, if I'm to listen at all (which I do for an hour or two just coz I can't let go of my habit and haven't found a good replacement for it).  If Art bumps Red Eye Radio off that strong signal and the station airs The Art Bell Show in its place, I will be so incredibly happy.

Still hoping that he's not on SiriusXM.  I'm on a tight budget and it will hurt to buy one of their radios and pay a monthly fee.

Last GaiamTV bit I saw he was slapping himself in the face with a blue, rubber calf muscle.  'Nuff said.

When I saw that preview of the Giaim TV show on the c2c website and it showed Noory literally barking like a dog, I knew I would never watch it.  I was pretty sure I never would from the outset, but that confirmed it for me.  I can't believe that show has even lasted THIS long, if it even has (I haven't kept track if it's been taking off "the online air" yet).

If he signs with a big network, they would be wise to have an ironclad contract that he has to host for at least five years. 

I really doubt that Art would sign a five year contract.  He is 68, after all.  He probably wants to give it one last go for a couple of years, and then really retire at 70, going out as the Hailed King of Night-time Radio, with his new shows owning its time slot.  I would bet that he would be willing to sign a two year contract, but no more than that.

Two years is low... I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least 4.

We already have the "fake" C2C "band" with the crappy, non-original member, Jorch Noory.  Just C2C in name only.   This radio-version of The Temptations without even "Big Daddy" Otis Williams bites.  I want the original "band," with it's founder, Art Bell.

I'm sure this has been bandied about before, but seeing as how I'm new to CoastGab, has Art considered just doing a podcast, a la Joe Rogan? I don't know how many people here, if any, listen to The Joe Rogan Experience, but it gets tons of listeners and is immensely popular. No need for the archaic methods of conventional radio anymore, it seems, and you have pretty much absolute freedom and free reign when you're running your own show. No higher ups to pander to, no suits to appease (not that Art has ever been the appeasing type), and he could literally just do a show whenever he wanted and not be tied down to a stupid contract.

Then again, Art is and always has been old school, so I could see him being apprehensive towards strictly internet radio.

And I would think the maverick in Art, the very large part of him that doesn't like to have a boss or having to kowtow to a corporation, would love to do his own show out of a small, friendly station near where he lives, and calling all the shots without having to compromise.  This is starting to be my fave theory of how Art will come back on the air.
