Thats Bill (not Bob) from West Hartford, Conn, the AAA.

The King of Talk Radio.

Now that's funny. For no apparent reason (although Snorge would say there are no coincidences), this whole situation was reminding me of Excalibur (the movie) just the other day.

If you haven't seen it, at the exciting climax King Arthur finds Guinevere shacking up with Lancelot in the woods and he shoves the sword in the ground beside them and leaves. The country begins to fall into chaos, and Arthur gets old and ill, but then he's called out of retirement to save the day. Not sure how to do this without the sword, he goes to find Guinevere in a convent to apologize, only to find that she's saved Excalibur for him all this time. He takes it back and, revitalized by it, rides into battle.

So I guess, in my little thought experiment, MV would be Guinevere, keeping the faith here in the CoastGab convent until such time as King Art returns to vanquish the foe.

Or I could just be bored, I dunno.

But does that matter if you're not after big revenue from your radio show, but just doing it for the love of having a radio show?  You could broadcast it on a small local radio station, and stream the show worldwide via Tunein.com (or Iheartradio) and reach millions of listeners.  This alone would bring that local station, at least, a lot of ad revenue as advertisers got the news that this particular radio show was getting millions of listeners online.  And, if making a lot of money wasn't an issue for you, then you could just do your little radio show on the local station, have all your listeners online, have an 800 number to call in on so that you could still do live callers despite most of the people listening to the show online.  This, as I see it, would be the ultimate way to call your own shots completely, and still have your little local radio show be viable by all the people who would stream it online.

I think the financial aspect is probably what is driving a lot of Art's decisions throughout this process, and probably influences format, degree of control, target audience, and things that radio insiders would know about.  That isn't to imply he is greedy, necessarily, or that there is anything wrong if he was.

It sure will be fun to analyze a lot of this stuff when he's up and running.  I suspect Art may also finally to talk a bit on his first few shows about many of the things that have attracted speculation for all these months.

All that being said, perhaps the argument is really about the popularity of the paranormal. There are so many TV shows about the paranormal, including:
Stranded, Alien Mysteries Killer, Contact, Monsters and Mysteries in America, and more than 20 in development. There are several paranormal podcasts and radio shows.

I think Art will have no problem rebooting.

I agree.  The paranormal topic tv shows still bring in an audience.  Look at all the years the sometimes silly 'Ghost Adventures' has been on The Travel Channel?  And I believe 'Ancient Aliens' is on its sixth season on the History Channel.  And every time I turn around The Bio Channel is starting up another ghost investigations show (check out 'A Haunting of'.... it's pretty good).  These shows still wouldn't be on tv if people weren't watching them.  There definitely is an audience for anything paranormal, and we all know that Art has an affinity for presenting paranormal topics in a way that makes them even extra thrilling.  I think the listenership for his new show is going to be huge, esp. since c2c is gradually moving more and more away from the paranormal topics (and Snoory doesn't present them well since he quite obviously has no interest in them).

My favorite sequence from that film has always been the flowers blooming upon Arthur's return ride, while O Fortuna plays in the background.

And Helen Mirren's Morgana killed it.

One of Art Bell's old bumper music selections by Crystal Gayle, "Ready for the Times to Get Better" would seem like a good theme song...

Noari is going to be in a State-operated institution before the year is up  :D

What a refreshingly correct use. The GN gives you a gold star.

New paranoid conspiracy scenario, and--serendipity!--it involves Alex Jones.

So it's unlikely that Noory or Wells will publicly mention Art or his new show--they won't even give him an ounce of free publicity. If a rogue caller slips through and brings it up, they'll downplay it and minimize it as quickly as they can. I think that much is all a given. I can see Knapp maybe giving a low-key but classy shout out--something along the lines of "Our old friend Art Bell has a new project and I wish him well"---but that's about it. And I imagine Knapp will get a stern talking to if he does do that.

But...what's to stop a back-room, off the record arrangement/understanding between Noory and Alex Jones? Wherein Jones, on his own show (thus keeping Coast's and PRN's hands clean), will badmouth and belittle Art and his new show--claiming that his "return" is all part of an NWO conspiracy, Art's being paid to spread disinformation (not the first time he'll have been accused of this btw), and take down Coast because sit's one of the only sources for "real news" and one of the few sources of "the truth" out there? (Or even he'll just accuse Art of being a sore loser/sore retiree.) Maybe even try to get listeners, affiliates and advertisers to boycott? (And maybe dredge up or at least not so subtly hint at some of the old accusations and allegations about Art in the process.)

I could go on but I think you all see where I'm going with this. I really don't think Noory would be above such tactics, as long as his hand was unseen, and I absolutely think that Jones would sink that low--he proves it every single day.

Thoughts?

That sounds like excellent publicity for the new endeavor.  Someone should recommend this to George and Alex

Lol, you don't say? :)

I remember one call where he either asked George or the guest if they knew of an atheist dating service for him to find a like-minded gal and then proceeded to give his reasons why (something along the lines of mating with someone of faith may produce retarded offspring).

A number of the additional links are to songs that have been mentioned here, as well as a classic alien abduction episode...

I love the exploding whale story.

Alex Jones couldn't take down a tent, much less take down Art Bell.  Art has seniority, talent, mystique, and most of all, class.  Of which Alex has none.

Alex ranting about Art being an nwo plant is less than meaningless, and is no different than any other day for Alex... everyone is an nwo plant to him.  "And it's all on record." lmfao

The Artbell.com page freezes at Incoming message. Is that just me, or everyone else have same issue?

Shockwave

^ It's just an image.. it's not really loading anything. I bet the green bar .gif will load more as the announcement gets closer tho.

EDIT: I wish he could put a countdown clock on the site though until the announcement...
