My opinion of Art has diminished over the years. I figured him for a true Alpha male, a pioneer, bold and possessing an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

In reality, he`s just a middle-aged cat lady. #disappointment
Another cat hater like Noory? Art will be back, all you have to do is read the Art of Talk to know that. Just be patient. He is coming

I wouldn't use a 1998 book as a point of reference indicating his return. Hell, two months after this book was published(10/98) was "Art leaves...Part 1"  and his life is much different today than it was when he wrote that book. He's gone.

hahaha.... yes it was right after he became disenchanted with Filipinos in general and started writing hate mail about them.  In fact, that was probably why he did it, right??

That is a pretty cold-hearted false statement.

I hope you never have to go through losing a much loved spouse.

Karma is a bitch.

Maybe??  Absolutely!!  Was that George himself?
Perhaps he needs a visit from that cute little wart-hog from the "random" thread.

Please don't use this term anymore.  It's redundant.

Now it's really redundant. Don't ever tell me not to do something. And change your avatar-it's annoying.

Art has just posted about his current situation, and unfortunately it's nothing positive...(four posts made over a 10 minute period combined below):

"There has been a explosion at our house tonight! Nobody hurt (I hope) it was a fire extinguisher, it just blew up (nobody in the room) but the house is beyond a mess. Inhaled a bunch of that stuff, like a white powder, not feeling so hot. Fire dept was here. More when I can. Good lord, we just remodeled. I think I got the most exposure but the girls got some as well. A fire extinguisher is supposed to save you not kill you! It was in my radio room with about 50K of radio gear that may be toast along with my lungs. It had been in the same spot for months, always at about 70 degrees, Fire guys said it was defective, lots of pictures, I will post in time, now VERY tired."

Whatever implications this may have for any radio plans Art may or may not be working on, certainly we should all wish them well--and be glad that none of them were seriously or directly hurt!

Pretty rough news from Art.. It sounds like it could have been much worse so glad it wasn't

Lovely Bones

Ditto, Horror Reporter.  Thanks for the update, Morphia.  That's scary news.  Never thought of a fire extinguisher hurting someone while it's sitting innocently on a wall.  Hoping the AB's are all well in the aftermath.  Insurance will cover the rest.

I heard it was a recalled model he didn't know about until now, obviously. I hope he will post the model number. Maybe it will help prevent this from happening to someone else.

That sucks but really if that is the worst that happens he's doing pretty fucking good.  He's probably insured and has to be a millionaire to boot if he's not.  Fortunately it looks like nobody was hurt so I'm sure there will still be Christmas at the Bell household despite the dust.....And I doubt he would be doing a predictions show with or without the extinguisher mishap.

AAristarchus

Hi everybody, I have to get something off my chest. Long time Art Bell fan but it's only been recently I've been able to go through a lot of his shows. One thing I've noticed having listened to between 200 and 400 total hours of recorded shows is MAN, Art Bell is dumb. If you have even one Iota of intellectual capacity he just seem to possess this dense, ignorant personality and a very very very very mediocre level of intelligence. Another thing that bugs me is that he is VERY emotionally wishy - washy. He's the kind of man who gets knocked over by an overly strong gust of breeze.

I know, I know, then why listen to him? Well for two reasons: first I think this is actually to the shows favour, simply because he is such a wishy-washy, selfish, weak soul with mediocre (at best) intelligence he's the perfect guy to host a show like coast to coast. He listens and gets carried away by the story; this allows the various interviewees to just get into the zone and speak their mind. His vulnerability is disarming. Second, I noticed that this vulnerability causes the various interviewees to open up and expound. This allows the ones that are BS (or bad liars) to trip over themselves and expose things. Since I'm more of a skeptical person, to me it's kind of a litmus test. So while I find many of the episodes that I listen to are so annoying it makes my head feel like it's gonna explode; other times listening to Art is very rewarding precisely because no one else can draw people out on paranormal subject matter the way he can.

Anyway, I was wondering how many of you feel the same. Can't say I like Art as a man, but I like his work and he was a unique person in his own place and time.

I'm glad everyone in the AB household is ok.

Here are some photos of the aftermath. Click on the photos for larger size.

Damn, the whole room was instantly and totally "antiqued".

Really bad things always seem to happen to Art.

Is this why we like him? He's just human, like us? Bad things happen to all of us.. the common bind between host and listener perhaps..
