Art Bell

I'm remembering how many times I and others have wished Art would come back just even one night a week ... or even once a month.  We've got at least 4 nights a week now.  Imma happy lady! (Ever hopeful about the weekends, though.)  ;D

I'm afraid Stern has that distinction, but Art is certainly no lightweight.

Stern had a lot of listeners on Sirius at first, but that has gradually dwindled to almost none due to Stern's empty promises and lack of talent on the show in the last few years.  He promised "no censorship" and "commercial free".  Now the show is heavily censored, even more so than when he was on regular radio, and they have constant commercials.  The nail in the coffin was when Artie Lange was let go, Stern on his own is a borefest.  Also, Stern ripped off his entire early career directly from bits that were done first by Steve Dahl.  Stern isn't any good unless there's something for him to ripoff or someone to write for him.

Good thing for Sirius that they got Art Bell, otherwise there's really nothing else on there worth listening to.

I'm still slightly disappointed that there's nary a word about a guest host for the weekends.  If my dreams are TRULY to come true, George Knapp will be the guest host on Saturday and Sunday nights.  (It's okay if they do a "best of the week" show on Friday nights,..... although, better yet?  Ian Punnett hosts Friday nights).

I second this. I don't know the intricacies or legalities of No Compete Clauses for part time hosts, but I have a horrible feeling that even if Knapp wanted to host AB's new show on the weekend that the PremRat lawyers would make it extremely difficult for both him and AB, even if just out of spite.

Just something I noticed the other day - There's a new piece of Art's site under News called Twitter Feeds.  It shows a certain number of postings from various twitter users they are following.  Right now it only shows area51.org and UFO Sightings, however yesterday it was showing some Unknown Country, so I wouldn't be surprised if Whitley Strieber will be a guest at some point.

You don't have to buy whatever the ad is for - just clicking on the Amazon ad sets a referral cookie from Art's site that is good for 24 hours and whatever you put in your cart and checkout for during that time is credited to them.
I love Art. I wish him well in his "extraterrestrial radio" venture. But Art Bell is living in wealth and tangible riches that the vast majority of his listeners and fans could never dream of approaching in a lifetime. Does he really need to be additionally paid a commission for every purchase we consider making from Amazon? My take is there are hundreds of charities and struggling individuals who could make far better use of, and would be far more grateful for, the percentage Amazon pays folks who allow Amazon links on their webpages.

I could take Ian if it would get George Knapp. My feeling was Ian was being serious about the health reasons for quitting C2C. Or was that just a face-saving gesture as he was being pushed out by PremRad? A "Defenestration of Minneapolis" as it were?

But it's glorious to think of Ross returned to the national airwaves of the night along with Art! If only George Knapp could follow!

To help him ease back into being in front of the microphone, Bell has booked physicist Michio Kaku, a frequent guest on Bell’s previous shows, for the inaugural episode of the new show, titled “Dark Matter.”

For a while he wanted to move on, but now he says during his first show on SiriusXM, he will share his story about why he left “Coast to Coast AM.”

As he did when he was regular host of “Coast to Coast AM,” he will have a special Halloween episode dedicated to ghost stories from callers

Thanks for posting! LOVE that Kaku will be the first guest, and I absolutely cannot wait to her Art tell his side of the retirement story.

Just noticed this while perusing Art's site - it looks like Keith is beta-testing a Google-powered fast blast-esque feature called the Worm Hole. http://artbell.com/worm-hole/

Riiight?  Even though Kaku is one smart cat and Art will do a great interview, hearing all the cosmic theory rap reminds me of how I feel when friends discussed "Lost" or which Dead show was the best. I know it's fun for them but I have to be really high to care.

Yeah opie and Anthony are fun. So much stuff to listen to, I'm not gonna lie. I'm listening to 1st Wave the 80's new wave channel haha

Thats one of my favorite channels, it used to be called Fred.  lol  ;D

Art could have premiered with Dolan, Friedman, or Wood; maybe one of the more reputable ghost people. Something...ANYTHING but KaKu.

Nothing against Michio, but he`s just over-played. He has nothing new to add. We all know about 'string theory" and time travel. Art has said he is most fascinated by time travel, but most people are NOT!

I've got to disagree with you, FTF. I think Art interviewing Michio Kaku will make for very interesting, entertaining radio. When Art had him on in the past, those were some of his best shows in my opinion. I'm looking forward to hearing what they both have to say.

Same here.  Even though Art's also apparently going to have the C2C "Science Advisor" on, chuckle, chuckle, it'll be nice to listen to somebody who actually does know science.

This comment is silly. There are millions of sites that link to Amazon or Adsense or whatever where regular people, bloggers have the link.

I had it on my original blog before it got hacked by an online stalker. I never had anyone click on it because back then I wasn't buying much on Amazon but the link was there. People make money from it and many of them aren't Art Bell, Keith Rowland, Whitley Streiber, etc. I don't have a problem with Art making money from it.

As I understand it, you can have the funds go to a charity but I suspect most bloggers use it to pay for their bandwith charges.

Blogger has made really weird changes to Blogger since my original blog and there are many things I can't do anymore that I used to be able to do and that really sucks. In part, its why I haven't been posting much. I used to be able to send You Tube videos to my blog and comment on them, now they show up as a link with no way to view them, as one huge example.

I also used to have links to the weather, stocks, Fox, CNN, etc. None of that seems to work anymore either and I can't get any help from Blogger no matter how often I ask. Google's system of only replying to problems with automated replies is horrible. My blog got deleted for unknown reasons, but primarily because this guy hacked it and I couldn't get google to reinstate it by interacting with a human.

For that reason, Google also sucks.

I've got Kaku's books on my shelves somewhere and like them but to hear him on the radio or see him on tv everywhere has gotten a little annoying.

I'd like to time travel too but I know we can't. Art needs to move on to something else and so does Kaku when he talks about string theory. After you hear it once and understand it, that's enough.

I was hoping for a new guest or some wild open line.

I am really mad that the guy I bought the Sirius XM radio from and who said repeatedly he shipped it, hasn't, although he told me on the phone Wednesday he was finally shipping it after 21 days of waiting. The guy lives 8 miles from Santa Rosa, has my home address and could have shipped it via Fed Ex and I could have had it in 1 day, as my replacement printer from Canon was delivered from Wal Mart. I may have to listen to Art on my Imac Monday. I'm really mad about this and probably will ask for a partial refund anyway due to the time involved if it doesn't arrive by Monday.

As an aside, if any of you get your personal or business mail at the Post Office in a po box you can sign a form and it will allow you to receive Fed Ex and UPS at your po box. It makes it a lot easier and safer than having stuff left at your doorstep particularly if you're not home. You sign the form and then have to list your mail coming to the physical address of the post office with your box # listed as # 123 etc. instead of having it say XXX po box 123, etc. Then all packages no matter who ships them can get to you.

I would be deeply surprised, even shocked, if Art doesn't have Whitley on as a guest, and probably in the first month.  Always thought that Art genuinely liked Whit and they have a nice rapport on the air together.

That's the thing - there is SO much good stuff on there! I got xm back in '07 to try to make my work commute (70 mile daily roundtrip in Chicago) and it pretty much changed my life. I rarely if ever listen to AM/FM anymore - it's either XM or my iPod.

I don't know about your internet phone carrier, but listening to Art on an Iphone eats up big time on your data charges.

Verizon is terrible in this respect. I had to pay extra for more data time and I still eat it up in a month.

I'm stuck with them for another year and a half but ... I went to TMobile and ATT & they charge the same rates as Verizon does for an Iphone. Its price fixing in the worst way and if we had a government that works properly they'd nail the sobs for price fixing and being anti competitive, something we've been told for years that competition supposedly causes prices to be lowered which isn't happening in the field of using an Iphone which really makes me furious.

RedMichael

I'm so excited to have Bell back I don't care who he has on. We knew the score when he said he would have all the old guests on to play catch up for those not keeping tabs. I only have cable september - feb for football then it is gone so I don't catch Kaku very often.

If it weren't for the fact that Noory has turned Coast To Coast into Crap To Crap on almost a nightly basis, one could easily find a Noory look a like and post parody shows on You Tube.

But then how could you parody the idiocy except how Paperboy does it.

I don't CARE how much money Art makes, he can make a billion as long as I can hear him on the air.

I wouldn't pay even 1 cent or a postage stamp to ever hear Noory, that's how much I hate him and for what he's done to the show.

I suppose in a sense I did pay something to listen to him because to hear him on the radio I had to pay PG & E for the electricity.

By contrast, once the trial period is over on Sirius, I'm going to pay the money to listen to Art.

And Art is wrong in his assumption that we listeners THINK he was better than he was on the air.

He was.

In part, because he was unique and in part because compared to the people we had as an alternative at the time, he was a breath of fresh air almost every night.

And his open lines gave us calls we would have never heard and topics we never would have thought of hearing anywhere else.

That was the magic of listening to Art & I don't think he'll have lost his touch even though he's been off the air for years.

I guess wish the " average Joe " as it says in the song Conspiracy Radio, knew he exists.

There are a lot of people who have never heard of him out there.

Hmm, maybe I should print up some flyers and start posting them on phone poles and on bulletin boards at supermarkets.

And its a pity Sirius doesn't have tables set up at events and Walmart like Comcast and Vonage do. They could get new subscribers and get people to discover Art like we have.

SaucyRossy

Holy crap people, it's the first guest.
He said the first two weeks were going to be old guests. Relax, there are going to be plenty of new guests etc.
listen to c2c if you don't want to hear Art tell his side of the story about premiere and talk with one of the smartest men on the planet.

Besides its ONE NIGHT.

Agree.  I have no interest in physics, and as far as I can discern it's not all that mysterious (if you know it).  Certainly not paranormal (altho, yes, I guess time travel is, although I don't believe in that really).  And, as with math, when I'm confronted with it my mind automatically shifts into neutral and then either recalcitrancy or a snooze soon follows.  Or just plain old drifting away to something else that does interest me.

I'm thinking he might not be on as a full length guest but only to talk for a bit about actual dark matter specifically.  If Art's going to talk about his issues with premiere, that might take some time.

I can't wait to hear what went on with that, I've been wondering for years

I think you misunderstood me. My point was, Art himself doesn't need the referral fees that Amazon pays for any resulting orders when someone links to them from a referring site. I was saying that instead of linking to Amazon via Art's site, click an Amazon link on the site of someone who can use the $, which is most certainly not Art Bell. A charity site or a struggling blogger can use and appreciate the money a whole lot more than Art. Surely you don't object to that.

Surely you don't think you think that attitude is "silly".

Michio is a brilliant man and it was very painful to have to listen to him being interviewed by a moron who is clearly not qualified nor educated enough to bring justice to his ideas.  Art's theater is the perfect fit for Mitchio. IMO
