I know someone posted saying they are representing Art's new show and offering to sell ad time but it struck me as fake.  This seems an unlikely place for an ad person to troll for clients.  It may have real but I wouldn't take the post at face value.

i agree, it looks suspicious.  also, if you google the phone number on that website ((888) 449-2526) you'll see it turns up results for a multitude of hosts this company can supposedly sell advertising for.

they even claim they can get you on limbaugh.  i'm calling bullshit there.

Yeah, I think somebody mentioned this earlier. They did a Google search and found out this guy was a spammer. It just goes to show, you can't fool the coastgabbers!

Ravenna

A huge thank you to HorrorRetro, and to you, Ravenna for your experience and advice about this.  It's been quite helpful.  Slowly I learn, step-by-step, inch by inch (old Abbot & Costello reference).  Yesterday I downloaded the Tunein.com app.  I'll play with it for a few days, then download Iheartradio.

It sounds like I'll want to spring for that speaker too.  Do you have a case on your Kindle?  I read some amazon reviews for a couple different cases, including a few mentions that some speaker plug-ins don't fit well with some of the cases.  For me, a case is a must and I wouldn't want to take the case off to use the speaker.

I think you'll find that you'll prefer the Tunein app (did you check out just HOW many music-streaming-only stations that it has?!  40 for just "Baroque music" alone!), but the Iheartradio app does carry some stations that Tunein does not, which is the only reason I use both apps.

I do have a case for my Kindle Fire HD, but it's sort of hokey... a sort of padded canvas thing with little straps to slip the Kindle into.  It's good for propping it up, and also for keeping it from getting damaged as I carry it to and fro about the house.

For me, the built-in Dolby speakers are just marginally okay.  I like a lot more bass response to my audio, esp. coz I use my Kindle to listen to music, too.  Can't say enough about how great the little Marware speaker is that I bought from Amazon, and at $20 it's well worth the price.  (Note:  If you get enough in your "cart" on Amazon to add up to $25 of merchandise, you get free shipping).  If you're like me, and picky about audio, I'd spring for the little external speaker.  Comes in 5 colors, too, and literally fits in the palm of your hand, and recharges through a USB port on your PC.  (No, I do not work for the company,... ha!).

I like that sound of the neoprene(?) cover that HorrorRetro was talking about for their Kindle for $2.50.  I'm going to have to look into that:  not very happy with my cover,... it's cumbersome and slides around a bit too much.

Wanted to share something that made me laugh. Just goes to show that Art could/can handle any unscreened call without being a dip shit like "that other guy."

細野晴臣 コズミックサーフィン Haruomi Hosono - COSMIC SURFIN

Here is a very "out there" song called "Cosmic Surfing". I stumbled on it by chance and it is very "synth" sounding but I think it would make for a good song because

1) It is very unique. If they were to use it, it would be only associated with the show really. Like the C2C intro music. (I am not implying this should be intro music)

2) Very few people in the US ever heard it or anything like it

3) It sounds sci-fi"ey" in a very old fashioned late 70s way (when it was made).

4) It is very catchy. I don't exactly know what I would label this music as but it isn't what I listen to and I like this song a lot.

O. M. G.   That's fucking annoying!

Sirius/XM has an archive of many of their talk shows. We are told Art Bell will be offered as well. Looking at the Sirius/XM website, it looks like most shows have an archive of 30 days or so.

I believe Keith has mentioned that after shows expire from the official archive he MAY be able to put shows up on Artbell.com but is not sure if this is allowed yet.

Does anyone have info on the 'Mr Green' that Art made a point of banning on his Facebook page??

Foodlion

I dunno if anyone was listening last night, but I was listening in bed and it sounded like they squeezed in Art Bell's name before either snickering, or was shut off. I've been trying to find an archive. It was the last call his first guest received.  Subsequently before that a caller mentioned he didn't eat meat, but at a sandwich everyday. When George asked him what was in his sandwich the caller said "Ham and cheese". I about died laughing. No doubt it was a troll caller.

Possible...  but one wrong step with a paper trail, and they'd be sued into the stratosphere for tampering or sabotage.  I'd hope the management and attorneys at a large media company would know better.
True and history is still littered with companies (and particularly radio companies) who have pulled all sorts of outrageous shit to deep-six the competition.  And it's much easier to hurt the show BEFORE it is on air.  Again, I don't know if it's real it just "smelled" very fake and I expect much more of that sort of shit going forward.
Anyone who drops into the forum and stirs shit, I look at how long they have been on the forum.  If it's been a short time period I just put them on the ignore list.  If someone makes a claim, all I want is evidence (not a dvd someone sells online).  Until then it's all just nonsense to rile people up for whatever sick reason and amazingly people respond.  Don't feed trolls.

I might have to check out that speaker after all.  I looked at the case I got, and it's a Marware.  This is the one: http://www.marware.com/vibe-kindle-fire-hd-8-9-case?sc=71&category=52641   The $2.50 neoprene carry case will probably be impossible to find.  It was on clearance, and then had an additional 70% off.  Not sure where you live, but this was at Fred Meyer in the Tacoma area.
