George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

If you notice they are all syndicated shows. And there are few local hosts for the shows. And you do not get a broad range of views. Like Rush, Savage and Hannity they are mostly conservative. If you want anything else there is nothing that might be liberal.
We had Michael Smerconish in Phila. and he wrote some books. "Flying Blind" was one of them about the Airport security. Michael S. was once on coast for a segment about a book with one of the hosts. But that was a while ago.That book was out in the stores in 2004, and we went to the book signing. He is a former lawyer turned talk show host. He still does a show. And the other host is Dom Giordano doing political stuff. They talked about issues in the city and the country. and they prepare for the show. It shows.
What I miss about that station is that it was real radio. And the callers were not paid to call. And streaming was free. But most of all the show was good, the callers were smart and it kept our interests. Noory lacks this.
Not much of that kind of good radio in South Carolina. They fired the one they had in the afternoon about three months ago. We liked his show.
You cannot find quality any longer.

In many AM markets, the stations are either losing money or the owners are dumping long time hosts who had big contracts. KSFO did this & so did KGO when they switched to all news & people boycotted the station. They now have re-hired many of the talk show hosts & have started a new station to highlight them.

I've noticed this too. Commercial terrestrial radio seems about finding smash hits and the idea that cutting ties fast is the way to go.


The only place you can be mediocre for a while and still make it is a local public radio show.

Or be a stupid network who hires someone as stupid & mediocre as the Snooreminator.

There's a video on You Tube where a caller called and talked about an ashtray made out of Hitler's mantlepiece and wondered if it's cursed.

This is the kind of stuff that Snoory has dragged down Coast to a level even below that of a sewage treatment plant.

Can you imagine Art talking about cursed ashtrays ?

I feel he cuts off guests too quickly, doesn't convey gratitude enough, rarely follow up on ideas a guest has brought up and changes the subject too too often, has OPEN LINES way too often as a transparent filler and while I know he had a speech impediment as a child, it is very distracting with the consistent way that he mispronounces words.

It is cheaper to run a syndicated show than hire a local host. And if that is the case then why is Rush in every major city. I started listening on WABC in NYC. He was an unknown then.
Why is most radio conservative and why is it all run by big conglomerate companies. And does it look as if paid callers turn the show into a infomercial for the company to think that way. In NYC ABC went all news talk in about 1984. At that time the shows like DR. Joy Brown, Joy Behar and Gary Null were dropped. Replaced by Ruch and others of the same type of talk.
Savage won on "Freedom of Speech in Aug 2012." I often had heard him say that what he said would not be limited to what anyone wanted. And he won. Sounds to me like he did not care what the company paid him. He fought and won. I have respect for that. 
As far as the Hitler Ashtray, that was in poor taste only telling me is that he is a racist.

Because he gets good ratings, so stations want him.  Remember the individual stations have to pay a local host - they don't pay Rush (well, maybe some have to pay to get Rush's show - that's been hinted, but the money goes to Cheap Channel, not Rush.)  Rush's money comes from the network sponsors.

The man signed a contract for $ 400 million last year. He doesn't need Romney's money and was a conservative long before anyone ever heard of Mitt Romney. I've been listening to Rush literally since the first second he was on the air in Sacramento on KFBK which is where I listened to Art when KSFO didn't come in clearly because they lower their power at night.

I too appreciate  the mst3k reminder and have a bunch of them in que on netflix. My aforementioned ten yr old and I are having a ball with them.

That was classic Noory.  It was hilarious listening to him try to figure it out.  Noory makes me wonder about the validity of Darwin's theory.  How could one generation cycle veer so far from survival of the fittest?  How does Noory get home in one piece each night?  Then again there are pizza rolls......

Could be, I haven't checked that. But I do feel safe in predicting a posting milestone: if things keep popping like they have so far in 2013, I feel this particular thread, which is the very heart and soul of the forum, will hit 20,000 posts before the month is out.
